1 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2009 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 07/15/2020

My 2009 Nissan Pathfinder (after the warranty ran out), started having issues with the transmission and overheating. Lo and behold we have an issue where the radiator and transmission fluid is mixing. This appears to be the same problem others have reported as a failed transmission fluid cooler integrated in the radiator that allowed engine coolant to mix with and contaminate the automatic transmission fluid. There were no warning signs leading up to the failures other than a sudden jolt of the vehicle like the transmission was slipping. This always happens while the vehicle is moving at slow and high speeds.

2 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2017 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 01/02/2020

With engine running, the electric cooling fans wobble when they come on, most likely due to worn bushing/bearing. The fans don't appear to be hitting anything but make a loud audible tapping noise. Driver side fan seems worse than passenger side. The fans come on as soon as I turn on the cabin fan to circulate air; this is 45 degree f weather and "heat" not a/c. Internet search shows this problem has been reported by other owners.

3 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2017 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 11/01/2018

Loud knocking noice coming from engine, after research and dealer checkup it appears to be a very common problem for these 2014-2018 Pathfinders. The problem typically occurs around 50-60k miles which is outside of the manufactures warranty. Mine began around 50k, anytime my engine gets hot and both fans kick on the cooling fan assembly starts violently vibrating (I have video with sound). The only way to stop the vibrating is to turn off the a/c which in our texas summer heat reaching over 100 degrees is unrealistic considering I use this as a family vehicle. If you look at all of the complaints reported you and do a simple google search you will see this is a very common problem and Nissan is fully aware of it and in my opinion should be liable for installing a faulty fan. I was quoted $950 to replace the bad cooling fan assembly part by the dealership. It is my sincere hopes that a full investigation is done and a recall is issued for the number one complaint with this vehicle.

4 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 03/08/2016

My son bought me the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder on March 8. The check engine light and tps lights were on the day we got it, I also could smell antifreeze constantly. Took to mechanic to check. He said engine coolant was leaking intotransmission fluid and that Nissan was having alot of troubles with this. He said it could cost thousands dollars to fix. My vehicle has alittle over 73,500 miles on it and I cannot afford a huge repair bill. My son is worried about my safety. Can you point me in the right direction in regrds to this please! thanks!.

5 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2008 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 09/18/2014

The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. While driving approximately 35 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle shuddered and stalled. The vehicle was able to restart, but the gear was stuck in the park position. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the valve body needed to be repaired. In addition, radiator fluid leaked into the transmission fluid and caused the vehicle to need a new transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 114,000.

6 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2008 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 07/26/2014

I, a female, purchased a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder from integrity Chevrolet in chattanooga, TN. A day later the Pathfinder is skipping, vibrating and rattling, rear end clunking at 40 mph. Shifts hard at 4 and 5. Got 4 mechanics and the Nissan dealership to check all this out and they all concluded the coolant overflow tank was filthy, stinks- not the sweet smell- smelled burnt and rusty. The valves were bloated and radiator cap seal was loose. Low on coolant, high in water. Transmission and radiator needs to be flushed and checked for 'sludge'! the dealership's associate, jamie ryan, assured me the 2008 Pathfinder had been serviced and all fluids checked and filled. The Nissan dealership and the 4 mechanics all stated that 'no service or fluids were checked!' if it had been, the dealership would have known of this transmission issue! the coolant from the radiator is mixing with the transmission fluid in the transmission, causing a milky- sludge. No one can convince me that this dealership, integrity Chevrolet, in chatt, TN, did not know of this issue- it is a very common issue with the Nissan Pathfinders, xterras and frontiers years 2006-2010. Any good associate would have known this issue- in order to sell this automobile honestly! jamie ryan, to whom I have known for over 20 years, screwed me over and saw an unknowing, innocent woman coming his way! I had to be a good joke that day. This dealership knew they had to get rid of this Pathfinder quickly b/c it is a 'lemon'!.

7 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 07/12/2013

The vehicle has had all sorts of issues starting with the brakes when one brake shoe totally disintegrated and evidently ruptured brake lines at around 61,000 miles. New brake replacement almost $900. Since that time (the vehicle now has 75000 miles) the transmission has continually slipped, the gas gauges and all other gauges work intermittently, and the emissions test last month showed possible catalytic converter issues (there are evidently two). When taken in for service the service technician suggested I get rid of the vehicle because it was notorious for cross contamination of coolant and transmission fluid. Continuing to drive it would eventually destroy the transmission, and even now may have permanent damage. When contacting Nissan about possible recalls and the supposed settled class action lawsuit concerning the transmission contamination, I was told I would need documentation of all service done to the vehicle to receive $800 toward the necessary $3800 repair cost just for the contamination leak. If anyone is considering purchasing this or any other Nissan product, I would avoid it at all cost.

8 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 06/14/2013

Hi I brought my 2005 Nissan Pathfinder in December 2012 from kings auto Porsche and the car fax was clear on it. I brought it with 63k miles on it and I now have 90k on it. I never received and paperwork such as any recalls campaigns. About the end of may or first week of June of 2013 my car started to do a vibration and then acted like it wanted to stall and hit real hard into gear. It wasn't till June 14, 2013 that it put me on the side of the road running hot to where I pulled over in 80+ degree weather with my 2 year old son and my 3 month old daughter in the car. I started to search the internet to find a few recalls and many unhappy Nissan customers and find that Nissan has many complaints on the radiator fluid leaking into the transmission causing a milky substances. I knew nothing about any recall and find out that many are very upset with Nissan who isn't fixing this issue after their vehicles hit 80k. I am very unhappy with this issues and feel that Nissan should be responsible for this. Please contact me on my issues. As I will be going higher up and to the media like the rest of your unhappy customers! thank you for your time and looking at my letter.

9 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 02/01/2013

This issue is related to NHTSA action number : dp12004 my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder started having transmission issues at roughly 96,000 miles on 2/1/2013. While driving, the car will sometimes shake and rumble when traveling between 40-55 mph. The car has progressively gotten worse in the 2 weeks that the problem started happening. I took my Nissan for repair at berlin city Nissan in portland, maine on 2/19/2013 and they stated that the problem is a known issue. The known issue was a design flaw with how the radiator and transmission are integrated together. In summary when there is a cracked atf line in the vehicle, that engine coolant will run through the transmission ultimately causing permanent damage and requiring that the radiator and transmission be replaced. The quote I got today to get the items repaired is $6,700. Nissan is aware of this issue and rather than having a recall they increased the warranty duration to 80k miles. From reading on-line, it appears that most people that have had this issue (like me), experience this problem after 80k miles. Therefore, Nissan does not have to pay for the repair. From reading on-line and talking with the Nissan service staff, the problem with my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder is only going to get worse and ultimately present a driving hazard. I need to make a decision soon whether to make the costly repair or get a new vehicle. I am concerned about the car failing putting myself and my passengers at risk.

10 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 02/25/2011

This vehicle is a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder se, 4. 0 liter v6 with 53,000 miles. 60 month warranty expired 7-2010. The timing chain and gears broke apart causing engine to stop running. Normally timing chains and gears should not disintegrate for considerably longer than 53,000 miles. Filed complaint with Nissan north America 3-28-11 with no satisfaction. They were unwilling to do anything since the vehicle is past 60 month period and since we never serviced the vehicle at a Nissan dealership. Having researched this problem it appears that this is not an uncommon complaint with 2005 and 2006 4. 0 liter v6 motors. Dealer is asking in excess of $2000. 00 to correct the problem.
