36 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 08/18/2014

While traveling on a I - 94 west freeway the van lost power and stopped. The gas gauge showed the tank was quarter full, however there was no gas in the tank. The incident happened on a busy freeway, and there were children in the car. This is the 3rd time this has happened on the same vehicle. I had to call aaa to bring some gas. Based on what I've read online - this is not an isolated occurrence. Nissan has recalled cars with similar problems but not the Quest model. This is a very dangerous issue and could have resulted in deaths of my family.

37 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 08/13/2014

Inaccurate fuel gauge - my wife's Nissan Quest 2008 came to a complete stall in the middle of the road, while the fuel gauge was showing 70 miles left to empty. The regular dashboard gauge, also showed some level of gas. In reality, the tank had no gas at all. We confirmed that when, after some people's help, we were able to manually put some gas to arrive to the nearest gas station. My wife was in the car with the kids and it was a scary moment, to say the least. This was the second time it happened (unnoticed the reason the first time). Contacted Nissan consumer affairs and brought the car to a Nissan dealer for diagnostics. They validated that the car run out of gas with 66 miles left to empty on the display. Nissan consumer affairs doesn't consider this a defect nor decided to include the car under the recalls they had for this issue. They suggested that I upfront the cost of fixing this defect. This is a dangerous situation, as you cannot rely on the instruments to read levels of gas and the car can stall at higher speeds, causing significant injuries.

38 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 08/11/2014

Gas gauge read that I had 1/4 of tank of gas. I did not have any. I had to call aaa for assistance. Since then, my gas gauge has not been accurate. I will need to have it serviced.

39 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 08/07/2014

My 2007 Nissan Quest stalled in the middle of traffic because the gas tank was empty, even though the gauge indicated that there was over 1/8 of a tank or over 2 1/2 gallons equal to 50 to 70 miles to empty.

40 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

Was traveling at 65 mph on a three lane highway when vehicle began to buck and decrease in speed. Fuel gauge indicated 1/4 tank (60 miles to empty). Needed to steer into shoulder lane of highway to assess the situation. Determined the fuel gauge was in accurate, resulting in empty tank.

41 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 07/21/2014

Had just left work on my way home fuel gauge read just over a quarter tank of gas and hud on dash said 90 miles left til fill up. Stopped at an intersection with a really sharp left turn, signaled left went into turn at about 20 mph car stalled all lights on dash lit up steering wheel and brakes became almost inoperable causing me to almost crash into several parked cars. I have 4 sons ages 3-16. What if they were in the car?or my wife or mother and that happened on the highway at 55 mph?of course I had to call for tow to mechanic costing more money. Was told by mechanic to begin investigating possible recalls and or factory problems with this model make and year of fuel gauge/fuel level systems. Have been looking into it for several months now and see that I am not alone in this. Now my inspection time is approaching and check engine light is on due to this problem so there's no way I will pass inspection with this present. What should I do?!what is my next move?!call Nissan?Nissan should be responsible for this and work with customers on fixing/replacing these faulty parts. I am planning to call them ASAP to find out what can they do,wish me luck.

42 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 07/15/2014

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Quest. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the engine immediately stalled. The contact stated that the fuel gauge reading indicated adequate fuel level when the fuel tank was actually empty. The vehicle restarted after the contact filled the fuel tank. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the problem and they informed the contact that the failure was under investigation. The approximate failure mileage was 105,000.

43 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 06/21/2014

My wife was driving the car with kids in back, at traffic signal she stopped at left lane turn left. When left green signal was given, she released brakes and couldn¿t move as intended. She described to me that engine was running and as if all breaks were engaged. She made slowly left turn dragging car and stopped at right side of the road and called me asking that she is unable to move the car and engine is still running. She also informed that car is at safe area of road and could able to get out and walk to kid¿s activity school. Upon arrival at the location, couldn¿t start and called for aaa help. Aaa tested battery and it was okay; fuel gauge was showing slightly below â½ tank mark. Asked aaa to tow the car to my home as it was getting late in evening. While looking for details on internet for possible causes I noticed possibilities of wrong fuel indication. So added a gallon fuel and car started and worked normally. I am planned to switch the car with my wife to test this car next few week for safe operation.

44 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 06/10/2014

The first incident, occurring in the summer of 2014, caused my 2007 Nissan Quest to stall/shut off and nothing worked - it lost all steering, power, acceleration, braking, etc. It just died, going approximately 15mph while veering right to turn into a shopping center. This same incident occurred about a month later, while traveling approximately 25mph (posted speed limit) going uphill at night. Van just died and I was stranded on the road - lucky enough to get far enough near a private driveway not to get hit by a car, an to call for help. The fuel gauge was showing sufficient gas left in the tank, but it had run out of gas. We had put the vehicle in the shop for repair and luckily the mechanic was honest and Smart and concluded that it needed fuel and the gauge was defective. Luckily on both occasions, none of our three children (one special needs) were in the van. This defect left us without a second (family transportation) vehicle for several days and to incur unnecessary auto shop costs. Secondly, we recently had suspension work done, totaling over $1300. 00. There was apparently a recall for this, of which I was never made aware. The bolt defect was also never brought to my attention, but the rattling noise has existed since purchased used in 2011. These defects have caused potential endangerment to my family, incurred us costly shop/repair costs, and left us without a vehicle for days - highly dangerous and inconvenient, when all were known defects that should have been known to us and for which we should not have paid.

45 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 06/02/2014

I just purchased my 2007 Nissan Quest in may and after a month it started dying on me as I was driving. It was out of gas but said it had plenty of gas in it. It isn't consistant either, I could have the gas gauge at 1/8 of a tank and it would still be running or it would read above 1/4 of a tank and it would be dead on the side of the road. The dte gauge says I have another 60+ miles to go when it dies. I am tired of running out of gas because my gas gauge doesn't work correctly.

46 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 04/08/2014

We were traveling on the highway when our trip odometer said that we still had 60miles to e and then suddenly stalled. We were able to pull over but had no clue what happened since it said we still have gas. We called our roadside assistance who brought us gas along just in case and after putting the gas in, the car started back up. Just this morning however 7/15/2014 my gas gauge was suddenly almost at e when the night before I was just under a half a tank.

47 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 03/25/2014

The vehicle's fuel tank indicator has suddenly become faulty. The needle for fuel capacity showed about 1/4 gas tank full, yet my van stopped in the middle of the street. There was no gas in the vehicle, yet the indicator showed 1/4th available. It was a big inconvenience, I had get emergency help for fuel, etc. I was lucky it happened when I was in the right lane of a slow moving road that had a shoulder on the right. I was also fortunate to carry my cell phone with me at the time of that journey ! I took it to the repair shop, they replaced the fuel tank, etc. The problem occured again even after the fix. The technicians pointed out to a report on NHTSA site that points to a open ticket for this model and issue.

48 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 03/22/2014

While traveling on a highway the van lost power and stopped. The gas gauge showed the tank was half full, however there was no gas in the tank. The incident happened on a busy highway, and there were children in the car. Based on what I've read online - this is not an isolated occurrence. Nissan has recalled cars with similar problems but not the Quest model. This is a very dangerous issue and could have resulted in deaths of three people. The problem with the gas gauge has been confirmed by a Nissan dealer as well as an independent car mechanic. Please recall the gas gauge in Nissan Quest before someone dies!. . . Updated 04-10-14.

49 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2014 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 03/21/2014

The following has happened 5 times. Everything on the vehicle powers off, without warning ~ steering, light,s brakes, etc. The vehicle slowly stops and nothing can be done. (immediately prior, the fuel gauge shows 1/4 a tank and the trip computer shows 60 miles left on the current tank. We put gas in it and everything starts to work again. Nissan sent me a postcard stating that they were aware of the problem and would be fixing it when parts are available. I called Nissan today and parts will not be available until August!!!!!.

50 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 02/28/2014

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Quest. The contact stated that the fuel gauge indicator displayed inaccurate information and as a result the vehicle stalled and began to hesitate because the fuel tank was empty. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel gauge needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 92,000.

51 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 02/19/2014

Beginning in February 2014 my Quest, owned for less than 6 months at that date, ran out of fuel when gauge still read 1/8 of a tank remained. Low fuel light did not come on, car simply stalled out and left me stranded on the side of a busy road. This had since happened four more times in the following five months. One incident left me stranded on a freeway offramp for nearly an hour with several close calls. I find it unacceptable that a vehicle I purchased from a dealer, less than a year ago, is this unreliable and untrustworthy! I don't feel safe having my family in this vehicle!.

52 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 11/16/2013

Driving car w/ approximately 1/4 tank shown on fuel gage and car stopped. Tried to start and car appeared to not have any fuel. Filled tank with fuel and car started. Happened again on 2 more occasions, each team seeming to stop with higher level on fuel gage. Problem appears to be getting worse. Looked for recall on this item and identified problem on numerous other Nissan models and several complaints from other customers not covered by recall.

53 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 09/21/2013

This has happened to me on two occasions now. Driving along in peak traffic and suddenly vehicle shuts off. No power steering and almost involved in accidents both occasions the first time I was alone the second time I had my grand babies with me and that was terriffing for them as the other road users where whizzing past and they were stopped. Both times I looked at the digital reading on the display and it displayed the miles as 80 miles to empty and 60 miles to empty and the manual gauge still showed just under 1/4 tank left. The low fuel light never came on either time. This needs to be sorted out before some one gets killed especially as this is used to transport children. . . . Updated 04-10-14.

54 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 09/02/2013

My fuel gauge read that I had approximately 45 miles left in my tank. I had a short trip to the doctor's office with my child. I planned on stopping for gas after the appointment. I made it about a half a mile and the van stalled. Being that the gauge read that I had gas, I thought there was no way the van ran out of gas. After this incident, my gauge never read the fuel levels correctly again. When the gauge said it was at a quarter tank, it really meant it was on empty. I learned that during the second incident of running out of gas. My gauge now is empty at a half tank. It also randomly puts itself at empty after I know I put a full tank in. So, now I use my mileage to calculate how much gas is truly in the tank.

55 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

2007 Nissan Quest dash/cluster control reports incorrect fuel gauge causing multiple, out of fuel/empty fuel tank scenarios. One scenario occurred while driving at night with family and reported 1/4 tank 76 mile til empty. Nissan claimed the car was out of warranty.

56 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 05/15/2013

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Quest. The contact stated that the fuel gauge indicator displayed inaccurate information and as a result the vehicle stalled and began to hesitate because the fuel tank was empty. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 103,000 and current mileage was 123,000. . . Update 04-10-14.

57 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 03/15/2013

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Nissan Quest. The contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the fuel gauge incorrectly displayed that the fuel tank was half full. The engine stalled without warning due to the empty fuel tank level. The vehicle was refueled and resumed normally. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage 152,617. Mah.

58 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 12/01/2012

While driving the vehicle on December 1, 2012, I came to a stop at the red light. When the light changed, I put my foot on the gas pedal and it moved slightly then just coasted, (through the light) and came to a stop in the right turn lane of the parking lot. Fortunately, there were only a few cars behind me and I made it through the intersection. I tried to start the vehicle but to no avail. I called a tow truck and the local Nissan dealership to let them know I was on the way. When the driver arrived, he put my vehicle on the tow truck and drove to the kroger gas island in the parking lot. He put $5 in the tank but nothing happened. At the Nissan dealership I explained what happened. The invoice reads: customer states the car stalled out cause: gas gauge shorted out and stuck on 1 (that's all that printed). I had 1/2 tank of gas when this happened. I keep track of mileage and fill-ups. It took more days to correct the problem than initially discussed. They would call and let us know that something didn't work when providing a status update. Finally they told us they believe the problem to be fixed. We picked up my vehicle on December 6, 2012, and paid over $775 for the repairs. I have tried to contact the dealership (left voice mail, left message with person, and sent email) but haven't heard back yet. I believe the problem I experienced is the same as the notification/ recall campaign and 1) my vehicle should be reviewed to make sure the problem is 'corrected' and 2) a full refund to be made as this incident is in line with the documented information in the recall campaign. Nissan has the paperwork to go back and confirm this repair. The nhrta action number I found is pe14012. (model years 2007-2009).

59 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2012 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 11/15/2012

I was parked on a slope, with about 1/8 a tank of gas and the van would not start. I was able to start the vehicle after I put it in neutral and rolled it to level ground. I googled the problem and found out there was a recall, which I was never informed about. I took the van into the local Nissan shop and they performed the recall fix. When I asked why I wasn't notified of the recall, they said that my vehicle was manufactured after the dates covered by the recall, but it was obviously affected by the same issue (and that the dates in the recall must be "off"). The recall number is 12v076000, it covers vehicles manufactured between 7/29/2010 and 2/21/2012. My vehicle was manufactured on 2/23/2012, and has the same issue.

60 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 10/18/2012

I was traveling on a state road at approx. 50 mph. I was beginning to start a curvy hill and pressed the gas pedal with no response. There was no engine revving heard and the tachometer had dropped to zero and all dash lights were on as if I had just turned the key to the 'on' position to start it. There was no low fuel light and the fuel gauge indicated 1/4 tank. I tried turning the engine over, but it wouldn't crank as if it was out of gas. Thankfully there was no one behind me coming around the blind curve or else someone would have been severely injured or worse. I pressed the trip button several times on the data display and it was flashing asterisk as if it was out of gas. I walked 2 miles to a gas station and put a gallon of gas in the tank and the car van cranked right up which indicated the van was out of gas, but the fuel gauge and low fuel light was faulty. This has occurred 3 other times with my wife driving alone. Once was on a u. S. Hwy. It appears there's a bad fuse or bad sensor, but we're not sure and I've not seen any recalls on this. Now we just have to keep an eye on the data display once the fuel hits a half tank. It's just not something you think to do while driving. I at least wish the trip display would pop up as a low fuel backup, but when your children are watching a dvd or the radio is on and you're concentrating on driving you don't think to press the trip button to check the dte. I wish someone would come up with a solution or show a recall. We are desperate and afraid someone will either be injured or it will do damage to the van. We can't afford to take to the dealer to pay a high price b/c my wife is in school. Please help!.

61 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2012 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 09/02/2012

Car was parked on a parking lot on a very slight decline. Low fuel indicator just came on but distance to empty indicator still shows 50+ miles. Vehicle started at first but started to shudder and then engine died. Tried restarting a few times but it will just shut off right away. All electrical components were fine (radio, lights, etc). Had to put 2 gallons of gas to get it to start again. Drove to the gas station right away and filled it up with only 14. 5 gallons of tank. Manual says vehicle has 20 gallon fuel tank capacity. I was aware of the recall (campaign: 12v076000) but initially thought that my vehicle was not included since the campaign was back in March 2012 and I bought the vehicle in July 2012. Was later confirmed by Nissan consumer affairs and dealer service advisor that my car was indeed not included in the recall. However, car shows similar symptoms with same model cars that were recalled.

62 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2012 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 06/19/2012

3 months after purchasing a brand new 2012 Nissan Quest (purchased vehicle on 04/15/2012), I was driving down a hill at a low rate of speed when the engine shut off and the car stated there was no more gas, even though there was a quarter tank. Cars behind me slammed on their breaks and luckily we were not hit. I put the car in neutral and after coasting down the hill and reaching a level part of the road, my car started again and told me that I had a quarter tank. After taking the car to the dealer, I learned there was an open recall campaign (NHTSA recall 12v076) on the 2012 Quest and the remedy was not performed prior to me purchasing the vehicle, which is against regulations as the recall campaign was started by Nissan before I purchased the vehicle. On 06/20/2012 (1 day after the incident) I took the car to a Nissan dealer to be repaired and the problem was supposedly fixed at town center Nissan under r/o number 6012078/1. On September 26th I started to turn into an intersection on a green arrow when my car shut off and said I was out of gas, (a minute prior to that the car said I had 37 miles and a quarter tank left). I was almost rear ended (the car had to swerve into another lane) and good samaritans pushed me into a parking lot close by. I realize that NHTSA has already acted on the problem my car experienced, but I feel something should be done with regards to the dealer "gwinnett place Nissan" who sold me the car without first fixing the problem (since it was a brand new car). I also want NHTSA to be aware that the "fix" so far has not worked for my vehicle. We are giving them a "final repair opportunity notice" via the lemon law.

63 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 05/27/2012

Fuel ran out and locked steering and stalled vehicle in middle of 4 lane highway while fuel gauge showed half full tank. Nissan dealer found no fault in fuel gauge in may 28 2013, but 3 further similar incidents took place until we stopped depending on fuel gauge and refill every 100 miles.

64 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2011 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 04/04/2012

Tl-the contact owns a 2011 Nissan Quest. The contact stated while driving 30 mph at slow speed or the engine idling, and on a decline with ¼ tank of fuel or less. There maybe an insufficient supply of fuel going to the engine. This causes the vehicle to stall in the intersection. The vehicle was merged to the side of the road turn the engine off and on and it resets itself. The vehicle was taken previously to the dealer and replaces the fuel tank and reprogrammed the fuel tank control module. The vehicle continues to have the stalling failure. There was a recall NHTSA campaign id number: 12v076000: electrical system: software and the vehicle was repaired under the recall. The manufacturer was notified again and stated they will send out a representative to inspect the failure. The failure mileage was 1,898 and the current mileage was 11,500. Mw.

65 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 02/28/2010

My 2006 Nissan Quest showed me having a quarter of a tank in gas, I stopped and filled it up and it did not register as getting any gas until a couple of days later. I just read the recall report but the Quest is not on there.
