1 Starter problem of the 1999 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 03/19/2008

The contact owns a 1999 Nissan Quest. While driving approximately 15 mph, the engine shut off. The contact was able to restart the vehicle; however, it shut off again and was towed to a mechanic. Twenty minutes after the engine shut off the check engine light illuminated. Four mechanics have diagnosed the failure and stated that the distributor cap was blown and caused by the ignition. The vehicle was purchased with a black box on the right side under the steering wheel. The black box allowed the dealer to shut the engine off if the payments were not made. A mechanic also stated that the black box should be checked and could also have caused the failure. The dealers mechanic quoted her $1,000 to replace the distributor cap and ordered the part for a higher price than quoted without her approval. The failure and current mileages were 155,000.
