Driving on a busy expressway, there was suddenly a loud clanging under the chassis. I started driving slowly and again there was an extremely loud banging against the chassis. Pulled of the expressway when the car suddenly started slowing down. When I started to pull into the first minimall I could find, the car started moving backwards and none of the gears would work. Could not take my foot off the brake as the car continued to go reverse into traffic. Finally after getting assistance from several people helping me get the car into the parking lot, I was able to be towed to my garage, where it was discovered that the drive shaft had broken off, knocking off a piece of the od sensor and then knocked out the exhaust pipe which then snapped off the shift assembly cable and all the gears. My mechanic has never seen anything as bad as this. The car is completely undriveable and I shudder to think what could have happened to my family and myself as we could have been killed. Currently my car is still at the mechanic's where he is waiting for a decision from me as to what to do with the car which will cost $3,000 to repair which is what the trade value is on the car and what the car was worth. Now it is junk.

I own a 2012 Nissan Rogue. I purchased it used in 2015 with approximately 60,000 miles on it. In about April of 2018 I started experiencing the car not accelerating after driving on the expressway. I would be driving 65-75 mph and suddenly the car would slow down and not accelerate. This is in heavy traffic mind you. I would pull over and sit for about 15-20 minutes. After that time I would restart the car and the car would drive as if nothing happened. I would experience this each time I would get on the expressway after driving for about 50-60 minutes. I took it to my mechanic and he told me the transmission was failing. I could not get another car due to the fact that I am in the middle of paying for this car and owe too much to trade it. In July 2018 I did not have to travel the expressway as much. I thought that I could continue to drive the car thinking if I didn't travel that far I may be ok until I get the car paid down some more. To my surprise that just did not happen. In August 2018 I started hearing a knocking sound and took it back to the mechanic to find out that the drive shaft was bad. Some of his customers brought their Nissan Rogue's to him with the same problem. The problem is very expensive to fix and a used part may not be the answer due to the fact that all of the Rogue's are having the same problem. Well, at this point I am without transportation. The knocking turned into a loud noise coming from the bottom of the car, as if everything underneath was on the verge of falling off. I cannot drive the car and had to have it towed to my home because the mechanic cannot find a suitable used part to replace the problem and I cannot afford to have the problem fixed with a new part. So I also am paying for a car that I cannot drive. Nissan really needs to do something about this problem, as it is a defect from the manufacturer.

Drive shaft broke and took out shift gear cable. . Car was in motion and just stopped dead in middle of the road. Upon calling Nissan to inquire cost of drive shaft they replied " we have them in stock because this is very common, happens all the time".
On 10/30/15, I was driving my Nissan Rogue and pulled out at a light in abingdon, va onto a main highway. It was dark and around 7:00 p. M. And had just began to accelerate. The vehicle suddenly made a really loud noise that sounded almost like driving a vehicle with a flat and then there was an odor that smelled like something on fire. I gave it gas, but it would not accelerate. I almost got rear ended as I was pushing the gas trying to get out of the road and unable to move the vehicle. I had my 10 month old daughter in her car seat in the rear of the car. With help I was able to push vehicle partially out of the road. My daughter and I sat on the side of the road for almost three hours before a tow truck came to pick us up. I contacted Nissan in bristol and was told that the power train is not under any warranty. The vehicle only has 81,000 miles on it. I thought the vehicle had a 5 year 100,000 mile warranty, but was told that was not the case. My concern is I was almost rear ended due to the transmission going out. Took vehicle to a transmission shop and was told the torque had literally exploded sending metal throughout the transmission. After researching, I saw where Nissan had reimbursed people for transmissions and extended powertrain warranty to 10 years/120,000 miles. It has a cvt transmission. I was without a vehicle for over 2 weeks. The vehicle has since been repaired but there is still a noise and the repairman said that I was going to need to get a driveshaft for the vehicle as it had been damaged as well. I am still paying on this vehicle and I do not feel safe driving it. My husband contacted Nissan and he was told it was not under warranty. I contact Nissan on 11/16/15 and was told it was under warranty until 1/13/16. But I had to have it repaired at a Nissan dealer. Vehicle was repaired by amocco asking for reimbursement. Thank you.
I have a Nissan Rogue s 2009, I have a banging noise from underneath the floor boards. I was made check by a mechanic and he said is the drive shaft and u joint is completely covered is rust with the drive shaft and can broke in any moment and the I have to repair not only that other parts too like the transmission, directional and so on. I went to the Nissan dealer part service and the person who work there he said that part is very expensive and for the low of mileage shouldn't happened. Is very expensive to replace is a fault of Nissan on a bad parts that they install on my truck. They need to make a recall and fix this big problem in the same way they charge for the truck and we paid, they need to replace at not cost is there responsibility for use bad parts and this is urgent I don't wants my mother, my nephew (3 y) and my nice (2 y) get into an accident and myself please help me this is urgent to bring my car for repair.

I was driving my 2009 Nissan Rogue when I heard a banging noise from underneath the floor boards so I turned around and headed back home when the truck came to a stop and would not come out of park so I went underneath the truck and it had broke a u joint and the u joint was completely covered in rust with the drive shaft still turning it had snapped the shifter cable. I have spoke with numerous people that have worked on cars before and they said this shouldnt have happened at this low of mileage. I also spoke with the parts manager from the dealership and he has worked on Nissans for 20 years and he said he has never seen something like this happen. I have been trying to work with Nissan and they are trying to shove the deal that they have for me down my throat and I am not willing to take it since this is a fault of Nissan on a bad part that they instaled on my truck. There is also another recall on my truck that I was never informed of and I have had my truck serviced at Nissan dealerships since I bought the truck in 2011.
