37 Transmission Failure problem of the 2013 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 03/15/2018

Several times this vehicle while traveling on highway for along period of time was lose power and check engine light would come on. Most of the time this would happen when I was far from a exit or rest area. At first I could shut vehicle off then back on and it would clear itself. My dad checked for codes and found a code for transmission(po744)-we contacted a Nissan dealer to ask them to look at vehicle but they said it would have to be in "broke mode " to diagnosis. I had traveled several different times but each time it happened I was not close to any dealer. My dad gave me is scan tool to travel with so if I got stuck,I could clear the code so I could make it home. Finally on March 15th as I was coming back from a trip, the car acted up and I was able to get vehicle to country club Nissan in oneonta new york. They drove the vehicle and was able to duplicate the issue. So I brought the vehicle for diagnosis on March 21st. They found the transmission has failed. Now on research we have found this is a common problem with the cvt transmission . Nissan has extended warranty on older vehicles for this issue on some vehicles. Also they have a TSB out for my exact issue(TSB#ntb16-090) I contacted Nissan customer service. They gave me a case#30284691. After five days they got back to me and advised me that they would not cover this repair. This is unacceptable as they know its a on going issue with this transmission and I know this by research(all over the internet) . The extension on some models was 10 years or 120,000 miles. Also the TSB also proves that they know of this problem. This vehicle is my life line. I still owe on this vehicle for three years and its no good to me with this problem. The repairs are beyond my budget. We have had bad weather here in upstate new york and this vehicle has left me aside the road. My dad had to come and get me two hours from home when it broke down.

40 Transmission Failure problem of the 2015 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 02/09/2018

There is a recall on the Nissan rouge 2015 on Nissan recall page relating to reprogrammng of cvt transmission from 8th of December 2016 but this isn't on your page. My transmission went and was told it is over the mileage warranty and when asked was their a recall on my vehicle was told emphatically no however on investigation there is two recalls. When I later contacted them with this information they said they sent out a letter. I got no letter and when I said send the letter to my email account the employee stated he had no access to this information so how can he say a letter was sent out. Nissan are continually putting these cvt transmissions into cars for years knowing they are not fit for purpose and there is no fix for them. You just need to google Nissan cvt transmission failure to see the devastation they are inflicting on people.

41 Transmission Failure problem of the 2011 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 01/28/2018

Sept 2017 I paid sandy sansing Nissan 853. 00 to replace my defective cvt jatco transmission that failed. Now January 28, 2018 with less than 6000 miles on new transmission I was driving interstate 70 mph posted speed in heavy rain when the car began to go up in rpms revving before it quickly began to lose speed. Same thing as before. The roads were slick due to 24 hours of rainfall placing myself in a deadly situation. I'm not willing to risk my life or the life of my children and husband for a known defect Nissan has been aware of, and sued for numerous models already and yet still installing defective cvt transmissions with only a 12,000 mile or 12 month warranty on their replacement models which states they know they are trash and still deceive their customers. Nissan owners should be aware of the death traps they are driving and Nissan should be held liable for their defective products they continue to sell to consumers without disclosing the potential loss of life that could occur.

42 Transmission Failure problem of the 2008 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 11/08/2017

Tl the contact owns a 2008 Nissan Rogue. The contact did not have the information on the part that was replaced. The repair did not correct the failure. While driving 60 mph, the transmission jerked and the vehicle decelerated to 40 mph. The check engine indicator illuminated while the failure occurred. The contact was able to coast the vehicle onto the road shoulder and attempted to restart the vehicle, but was unsuccessful. The vehicle was towed to the contact's home and then back to zimbrick Nissan on November 10, 2017 where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed. The dealer advised that the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 85077. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was over the repair mileage. 45 Transmission Failure problem of the 2012 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 08/08/2017

The transmission failed after 154,000 miles on the vehicle. Car bucked a few times, then stopped moving. The front axle is broken. Nissan consumer affairs opened a case, had me pay to tow the car to their dealer, pay for a diagnosis, confirmed the transmission failed, then denied the claim based on mileage which I provided to them up front. The $265 towing and diagnosis fee should have been avoided entirely.

47 Transmission Failure problem of the 2013 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 06/14/2017

Driving on interstate at 70 mph, when car suddenly reduced to 50 mhp in jackson ms, almost got hit from behind by 18 wheeler. Took it to the dealer in meridian ms and they stated the cause of the transmission failure and damage are due to boiling coolant. The boiling coolant is caused by the coolant system that can not cool the coolant liquid fast enough. This only happens if you are driving on highway for a very long hours. Dealer suggested replacing the cvt transmission ($4000), Nissan advices to add a second external cvt oil cooler kit ($900) to prevent coolant liquid from boiling and to protect the transmission. I had extended warranty, they will not cover this issue. It's a known issue and it's Nissan's design flaw. Warranty companies know about it and they will not cover for this particular issue despite of their contract says transmission is covered. Nissan offered to pay for half of the repairs. They did admit it was a design flaw on phone.

49 Transmission Failure problem of the 2011 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 04/18/2017

My car has 86k miles on it. I was driving on I-95. The speed limit was 75 mph, I was driving 75 mph. Suddenly, the rpm's started going out of control. Then I lost pick up. I managed to drive the car to the nearest exit. I then had to cross over a busy 4 lane state road in order to get to a safe parking place. The car died as I was attempting to cross over the 4 lanes. A wonderful police officer finally pushed my car to safety. He guessed my transmission had failed. He said it happens all of the time in my type of car. He said the crv transmissions were no good. The transmission had failed. Sheehy Nissan in mechanicsville, va, the closest dealer, said there were no recalls on the transmission and the cost of a new transmission was $4,600. I had to get an auto body shop to install a transmission from a new car that had been in an accident , for $2660, as I could not afford $4,600. This transmission should not have failed at 86k miles. I am enclosing two bills; one from the dealership for diagnostic fees and one from the autobody shop that did the work.

51 Transmission Failure problem of the 2013 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 04/10/2017

While driving highway speeds on colorado mountain passes, the vehicle transmission failed and would not accelerate. This put me in a very dangerous position with the other traffic on the road going 55mph and my car not going faster than 20mph. I took it to woodmen Nissan in colorado springs, colorado where I was told there were metal shavings in the transmission pan, and it needed replaced. I had purchased an extra insurance plan for repairs with the car in April of 2015, the car had 29,000 when purchased from modern classic motors in grand junction, colorado. I used this insurance to have the transmission replaced by woodmen Nissan in April 2017.

52 Transmission Failure problem of the 2012 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 03/01/2017

Vehicle had cvt transmission failure at 90,000 miles. Car speed uncontrollable between slow or too fast on the highway. Nissan dealer indicated transmission was failing, but would not replace it. I filed with Nissan consumer services to check vehicle since cvt transmission failures are being repaired by other car manufacturers. Nissan has refused to address the issue and mechanic agreed this is a failure on the company's side. I had to replace the transmission at a cost of $6,000 and there are still issues with the boot and front case transfers that are not working properly. I'm requesting for Nissan to issue a recall against faulty cvt transmissions and replace these since these are dangerous on the highway.

53 Transmission Failure problem of the 2011 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 01/24/2017

The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 83,153.

54 Transmission Failure problem of the 2011 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 01/14/2017

With low miles on my car I had a complete cvt transmission failure without warning. It started with one bump backing up. I pulled out and had power loss for a short while. When I tried to pull out into traffic again, I almost got hit and the car bucked as I crossed the road and tried to make it to a nearby parking lot. I could only go about 10 mph and it felt like the front end was going to drop as it bucked down the road. When I made it to the parking lot, it wouldn't move at all and it had to be pulled onto a flat bed. The transmission shop, recommended a new transmission because it would be cheaper than trying to rebuild the cvt transmission. As they tried to find a transmission for my vehicle, they said they found many that were pulled due to damage which told them the Nissan cvt transmission was junk. They recommended that I use it til the new warranty expired and then maybe sell the vehicle. I was the only driver of the car and babied it and changed the fluids and ended up trading the car on another as I could not trust the Rogue to be safe pulling into traffic as it failed us and almost got us hit. The car is sold, but I want it on record how dangerous the situation was when the cvt transmission went out without any warning beforehand.

55 Transmission Failure problem of the 2013 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 01/01/2017

The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that the transmission would overheat after driving approximately 3-4 hours at highway speeds. The overheating would prevent the vehicle from accelerating over 45 mph. The contact took the vehicle to the east Nissan champan highway dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the repair was no longer covered under warranty. The manufacturer provided case number: 27801526. The VIN was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 94,000.

56 Transmission Failure problem of the 2009 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 12/20/2016

The Nissan Rogue had a cvt transmission replaced by the dealer after it stopped running on the highway in 2013 with only 70,000 miles on the vehicle. The transmission failed again, 2 years later, while driving on the highway again. Nissan failed to do anything to assist me the second time with this vehicle. The vehicle was in motion on the freeway both times. There have been many issues with the cvt transmission.

57 Transmission Failure problem of the 2008 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 12/19/2016

"takata recall" I was driving down the highway and stop for the red light, the light turned green and I went to pull into the intersection for a left turn and my car would not move. I was lucky I was not rear ended by the cars behind me. I had my car towed to the dealer. The diagnosis was internal transmission failure. I also had the same diagnosis back in 2013 with a whistling and knocking sound. It was called a cvt problem but in 2013 it was still under extended warranty so a new transmission was put in free of charge. This time I am ask to pay for a transmission out of pocket that I know is defective and it will cause a serious accident one day. My car is at hudson Nissan charleston SC 29406 with a price tag of $5101. 00.

58 Transmission Failure problem of the 2013 Nissan Rogue

60 Transmission Failure problem of the 2013 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/29/2016

I own a 2013 Nissan Rogue. That I have kept up the servis on at the dealership for everything, but while driving at various speeds, the vehicle suddenly failed to accelerate properly. The failure was intermittent. The mileage was between 80,000. To 85,000. At that point the Rogue becomes unresponsive and can't accelerate past 40 mph. This is incredibly dangerous and it has left my family and I stranded on the interstate 3 times, now I can't trust this vehicle at all and fear for the safety of my family. And Nissan for some reason can't find anything wrong when they hook it up to the computer because there is no code error. (but thet do have the balls to tell me I need to buy a new transmition for a caust of over $5000 before taxes)this Rogue is only 3 years old, this all has been very frighteningto me and my family, as I am on the freeway every day and someone could very easily crash into me when the transmission fails or even when I am trying to pull out into traffic from an on ramp or out of a parking spot in the city or a tool booth and there is zero power, I can't express how dangerous this is. Nissan please do something about this, we are hard working people and none of us will ever consider another Nissan if this can't be fixed. Patrick brady from hayward CA,.

61 Transmission Failure problem of the 2013 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/29/2016

Transmission failed at 62,135 miles. Overheated. No prior problems or repairs. Dealership recommendation is replace transmission and add a transmission cooler. Sold in georgia operated in georgia and needs a transmission cooler to continue to operate in georgia?! escalated to Nissan regional but will not cover the cost of the repair. Nissan has had an endemic problem with prior years across multiple models with this exact problem with cvt. This is clearly a continuing design defect. Vehicle lost power and speed suddenly on the interstate. Almost in an accident as trucks ran up on the car till it could be pulled over safely.

62 Transmission Failure problem of the 2013 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/10/2016

Cvt issues. Whenever I am driving at high speeds (over 60 mph) uphill, my transmission fails. A couple times, the car has completely stopped. I have floored the gas pedal and my car still won't move. This has been very frightening, as I am on the freeway and someone could very easily crash into me when the transmission fails. There has been an extended warranty on the cvt for previous models but it is apparently still an issue.

63 Transmission Failure problem of the 2012 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/07/2016

Cvt failed on Nissan 2012 Rogue at 72650 miles disabling vehicle in the hov lane on the highway. Service bulletin on cvts on years 2010 or older extended warranty to 120,000 miles (because of failures?). Concern is whether Nissan actually corrected cvt issues on latter year models. Never had a transmission fail with so few miles.

64 Transmission Failure problem of the 2013 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/06/2016

The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Rogue. While driving 75 mph with the cruise control activated, the vehicle began to lose acceleration. While depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.

65 Transmission Failure problem of the 2011 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 06/25/2016

Nissan has had and continues to have transmission problems, they did a recall for transmission failure up to year 2009. I have a 2011 Nissan Rogue with 80,000 miles and I just received a call saying that my transmission needs to be replaced. This cvt transmission has always had problems and Nissan knows this but they wont and know one in the govt will do anything to hold them accountable.

66 Transmission Failure problem of the 2014 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 05/17/2016

Nissan is covering-up a very serious and on-going problem with its cvt transmission. I bought a 2014 Nissan Rogue new in may 2014. The vehicle now has 70,700 miles on it. After only 24 months, the cvt transmission failed and, according to the local Nissan dealerships, I need a new transmission at a cost of $4,000. The Nissan dealership implied (but would not state directly) that there is a problem with Nissan's cvt transmission which has been on-going for 10+ years. However, my car is out of warranty and I must pay for the new transmission. The transmission should not fail after 24 months. Nissan should address the systemic problem with its cvt transmissions and extend its warranty for cvt transmissions as it did in 2010 for Nissan vehicles in model years 2003 to 2010.

67 Transmission Failure problem of the 2008 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 05/11/2016

The 2008 Nissan Rogue we purchased in March 2009 has experienced continual cvt transmission failures. The first failure was may 2009 and the cvt was replaced. The part was found to be malfunctioning after determining the vehicle was not shifting properly and was experiencing high rpms while driving. The cvt was replaced again in April 2014 after losing functionality in a potentially dangerous situation. The failure of the transmission occurred while traveling at high speeds on the expressway at which point the vehicle suddenly experienced heightened rpms, began decelerating and would not accelerate greater than 20mph. We safely exited the expressway at an approaching exit and coasted to a Nissan dealership less than three blocks from the expressway exit. Nissan recently alerted us that the current cvt transmission in our vehicle will need to be replaced again despite having only 20,000 miles since the replacement in 2014. Nissan has declined to cover this faulty part in the vehicle and has offered instead to provide a longer warranty if we purchase a brand new vehicle instead. If the cvt fails in this vehicle, it will have been the third transmission during our ownership of the vehicle, requiring a fourth to be installed.

68 Transmission Failure problem of the 2008 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 04/07/2016

I was driving in highway conditions (55mph in 55mph zone) when the car suddenly decelerated and would not get above 30mph. Cars behind me had to swerve around me in order to get around me with the sudden deceleration. I was able to make it off the highway & onto local roads. Every time I had to accelerate after a stop light or stop sign, the car would not initially accelerate despite me pushing full down on the accelerator. This repeatedly almost resulted in my being hit by cars behind me. I was able to slowly make it home. I took the car to the dealer I bought it from, and was told that the cvt transmission had failed. I was also told that I am beyond the warranty extension (about 9,000 miles past the 120,000 extension), so I will be responsible for the cost of replacing the transmission. I don't understand why this has not been a recall with the # of complaints all about the same issue. Also, if the manufacturer has extended the warranty, doesn't that mean they must be aware that it is a widespread problem?! it is so dangerous to be driving at 55 and suddenly without warning decelerate significantly. It is a wonder that no one has been hurt (& unfortunately probably only a matter of time before someone is). This appears to be widespread issue with this year & model of Rogue.

69 Transmission Failure problem of the 2012 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 08/12/2015

2012 Nissan Rogue cvt transmission failed while accelerating on a 2 lane merge from one interstate onto another putting the occupants at risk while attempting to get to the side of the road. Nissan has a long standing issue with the cvt transmission that allegedly was resolved after a redesign. Nissan acknowledged the issue (not covered by warranty d/t mileage but declined to apply an extended warranty that was in place for earlier models). Dealer repaired at a cost of 1/4 of the vehicle cost was for a rebuild, warranty for this only covers 1 year/12k. Not much comfort regarding longevity or personal safety within this vehicle.

70 Transmission Failure problem of the 2010 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/05/2015

The contact owns a 2010 Nissan Rogue. While driving 60 mph, the transmission failed without warning. The contact stated that the transmission failure caused the vehicle not to accelerate. The failure occurred twice. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing, but the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 79,000.
