3 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2004 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 08/01/2016

Driving & all gauges in dashboard turned off. The same day, the car didn't respond normally when gas pedal was pressed. The gas pedal was pressed several times before car took in gas. Parked car, & later that day restarted car. Car again didn't respond well when pressing accelerator. Gauges still non operational. Car died & battery tested by aaa. Battery found to be ok, but charging system was issue. Towed to tow yard & told alternator needed to be replaced. New, not rebuilt, alternator replaced by cousin & fuse (not sure which one) was found to be blown & replaced. Gauges worked after fuse & alternator replaced. Check engine light came on several days later. Cked car on auto zones free diagnostic tool & diagnostic trouble code u1001 can communication line & p0462 secondary code given. Car died again bout week later & towed to pep boys. Pep boys said battery needed replacement, so I had aaa test it & aaa said its the charging system. Aaa replaced the battery after much ado. Car taken back to pep boys for 'electronic diagnosis' & they said alternator! alternator tested at separate battery shop & tested fine. Later found meter fuse blown. Took to mechanic specializing in electrical & he scanned pcm & found no communication on data lines. Had blown meter fuse causing false code. Mechanic cleared out codes & test drove. He ckd charge 14. 2 volts. Mechanic told me to bring it in if happens again. Well, happened again & replaced meter fuse & ck engine light on again. Electrical mechanic said it's a short somewhere & I'd have to leave car for maybe several days. Had a friend inspect under dashboard & cked under the gear shifter & ckd speedometer wires & didn't find any shorts. Googled "meter fuse Nissan Sentra" & meter fuse has created a lot of problems. Problems listed on forums. I've already spent $550, can't afford to pay Nissan $150 diagnostic fee yet.

4 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2013 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 03/07/2016

Car wouldnt start but panel lights came on. Jumped started car and it worked fine for a while then same issue days later, Nissan replaced the battery and worked fine for a few months then same issue bought another battery and next time car wouldnt start it made the click sound like the alternator was bad but its tested fine. Im tired of having to charge the battery just so I wont get stranded. Nissan dealer claims car has to be driven at least 20 miles per day to keep battery charged. Never had that issue with my 1989 Sentra but it had other electrical issues.

7 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2003 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 01/01/2009

2003 Nissan Sentra, first notice the service engine soon light come on. Then, the car would feel like it was losing power while driving. Took it to the dealership, they couldn't find anything wrong with it but they said it might be the battery or alternator. So, they gave me a new alternator and a new battery. Then, short time after the car started losing power and just stalling completely. Power steering goes as well. As time goes on the occurrences are becoming more frequent. Several times that this has happened I have almost crashed into someone whether I was trying to make a turn or my car shut down and someone almost hits me. So, I looked up the recalls done on my mode, make, and year car and found that there were recall on parts that are causing the same problem for me. So, I called up Nissan and told them my VIN and problem and they said there aren't any recalls on my VIN and my VIN shouldn't be doing what the recall describes. Everytime I drive this car I fear that I'm going to hit someone or someone is going to hit me because this unknown reason as to why this car does this. I don't feel safe getting from point a to point b in my vehicle.

10 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2006 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 10/24/2006

My son purchased a 2006 Nissan Sentra on 10/13/06. The car only had 20 miles on it. It ran good for a week then he started having problems with it not starting. He had to get it jumped off. That was Friday 10/20/06; he didn't have any problems on sat. Sunday was a different story, he and his fiance had a get it jumped off three times. When you would stop at stop sign or light it would barely take off. She went by the dealership to have them look at it. They told her it was probably the battery to bring it back on Monday 10/23/06; she said it would have to be between his two jobs. He would come by around 4:15 pm, they said that was fine. He took the car back to the dealership on tues. 10/24/06, they ran a computer scan on the car and said it was fine that no codes showed up. He told them that something was wrong with the car and that he wanted to get whatever is wrong fixed. They told him to bring it and leave it, he explained to them that he couldn't leave the car due to the fact he works from 7am-4pm and 4:30pm-11pm. He asked about getting a rental or a loaner, they said he couldn't get one because his age and because no codes had showed up. He went to pick up his fiance, while they were in the car waiting for her they started to smell something burning and then they saw smoke. They got out and opened the hood, the alternator wires were on fire. He put it out. The dealership the next morning picked it up after I went there to tell them about it. I had already reported this to Nissan motor north America. We were told that when the car was send back for the recall on the motor that they forgot to tighten the nut up on the alternator and that was what started the fire was an arc. They assigned it to a consumer affairs person. We had to take it because he had no other way to work. We didn't look at it until later that night it was found that all the dealership had done was taped all the naked wires that had melted, and left the singed ones on there. T.

12 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2002 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 05/14/2003

I own a 2002 Sentra spec v and this is my second one in 10 months that has failed to perform as it should. The current vehicle has had 1 new engine, 1 exhaust manifold, 2 window regulators, 2 new windows, three new door speakers, two shift knobs, 1 timing belt tensioner, 1 third brake light, and is in the process of getting it's third engine. Car consumes oil at a rapid rate of 2 quarts per 1200 miles. Tried an informal resolution and Nissan rejected. Dealer agrees the car should be bought back. Symptoms that I have, lead to possible engine fire and is being addressed with a recall. I was sent home in a vehicle that was unsafe and they did not want to fix this last time and were denying the car had any problem. I fought a long hard battle just to get it fixed.
