2 Crankshaft Position Sensor problem of the 2004 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 07/10/2015

2004 Nissan Sentra shut off while driving on highway. Happened 2 times within an hour while the a/c was running, the vehicle shut off while in drive and physically moving. Service engine soon light appeared and currently displays code p0335: crankshaft position sensor circuit malfunction. There is currently a recall for some Nissan Sentra for this exact situation, but not for my 2004 and I highly suggest this is reconsidered because this issue is affecting many people. Here are complain by other people related to same issue. 4 Crankshaft Position Sensor problem of the 2002 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 05/08/2014

I was traveling on the highway when the car shutoff. The rpm's shut to 0 in 5th gear. The battery was fine. I brought it to the shop and they could not make connection with the ecm. I needed an ecm. There was a recall for the crank position sensor which was performed in 2004, that recall was established because of vehicles stalling while driving. This is still a serious public safety issue. I called Nissan and they stated because of the age and mileage of the vehicle there was nothing they could for me. Searching online in Nissan forums I realized this is a common issue for that year. So I am not alone. The recall should extend until this problem is fixed period. Thank you.

5 Crankshaft Position Sensor problem of the 2004 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 01/13/2014

Drove the 2004 Nissan Sentra 1. 8l on the highway at 60mph and the car began to decrease speed to about 30 to 40mph with rpm meter fluctuations while pressing on the gas with same pressure. On the same day the car shut off multiple times after starting it for a minute. Previously on 2 occasions while at a stop light the car would shut off while idling. The check engine light was on for awhile but would periodically turn off. Took the car to Nissan after the highway incident and they said it was the cam position sensor and crank sensor. When asked about recalls Nissan said my car was not listed under the recall campaign. Had to pay $730 to fix this problem while after reading other people's complaints for this model and other model complaints it appears this is a common problem and should be taken a look at to include in the recall.

6 Crankshaft Position Sensor problem of the 2002 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 03/15/2013

I was driving when all of a sudden several lights in the car came on and the vehicle suddenly stopped in the road and was not able to restart. I took it in for repair a few days later and was told it was the cam and crank shaft sensor failure. Additionally it turned out to be a bad ecm.

7 Crankshaft Position Sensor problem of the 2002 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 01/13/2013

I currently own a 2002 Nissan Sentra se-r spec v and it is old but has been taken good care of and it only has 110,000 miles on it. Vehicle problems smoke black really bad, uses up to 5 quarts between oil changes, idles rough, runs rough. It has had a couple recalls I checked up on like the pre cat header it had been replaced in 03. I replaced coil packs, spark plugs, mass air flow sensor, cam sensor, and crank sensor. All this virtually did nothing and with vehicle oil consuption and fuel usage the engine is shot and will be in need of rebuild or replacment. I have read many reviews of others with the same car and have had the same and worse problems, and it just makes no sense how Nissan can screw up that bad and screw that many people out of money because of manufacturing defects. I also called Nissan and told them the problem and they basically said to bad nothing we can do you are on your own. I still own the car and feel like as many of these car owners have experienced the same issues it is obviously something Nissan did wrong and should compesate me and others with this defect.

8 Crankshaft Position Sensor problem of the 2004 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 01/30/2012

On Jan. 30,2012, my car stalled while driving. I was going the speed limit of 55 mph and without warning my car just stalled. I was lucky enough to be able to coast off the road without getting into an accident. After about 10 minutes I was able to start my car. At first the service engine light was not on but after about 3 mins. The service engine light came on. I drove the car to the dealership without any problem. The invoice states: ran the diag trouble tree. Could not get the dtc to confirm. Checked powers and grounds, all are good. Pulled the sensor and did the inspection and found the resistance to be wrong between terminal 2 & 3. They told me that the crank position sensor needed to be replaced and I approved the repair. It cost me $ 210. 00 for the repair. I read on the safecar. Gov website where the problem was happening to the 2. 5l models and were recalled. My car is a 1. 8l model. This is a safety issues. I was lucky that there was not any other cars around me when my car stalled and I was able to coast off the road.

9 Crankshaft Position Sensor problem of the 2003 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 10/08/2009

While driving in routine traffic, I felt a jolt, the service engine soon light came on and the rpms dropped resulting in the engine stalling. The first time this occurred I was able to pull over on the freeway to the shoulder. The 2nd time this occurred, I didn't pull over in time and the power steering and brakes went out making it difficult to stop the car to turn off. I am usually able to turn the car on after a moment without issue. At first it occurred once a week and Nissan dealership could not diagnose or "recreate" the issue. Then it didn't happen for several months, and now it's been happening extremely frequently and sometimes very difficult to start the car up. My safety is at risk because the engine will just stop, and I've found it difficult to get over to a shoulder, and on some parts of the freeway there is no shoulder. I've taken to Nissan dealership 4 different occasions and even when the service engine soon light comes on and stays on, they claim the computer does not produce any codes and cannot recreate the issue. I suggested a recall on the crankshaft sensor and they claimed it was not for my car or engine type. I've had tune ups, oil changes, and they did a repair involving a carbon build up and nothing has solved the issue. I personally ran the diagnostics today and the computer issue a trouble code for p0335 crankshaft sensor malfunction circuit a. I'd say the car has stalled about 20-25 times in almost a year.

10 Crankshaft Position Sensor problem of the 2004 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 04/11/2009

4 days ago while driving my car it just shut off. The car died it just completely shut off while I was going 55 miles and hour. Luckily I was able to pull off the road and out of traffic. I tried restarting the car and after several attempts I was able to get it restarted. The check engine light came on at that point. It then went less than a mile and the same thing happened again. This time I was able to pull in and park it in a store parking lot. I took it to a repair shop and had it put on there machine to see what the problem was. I was told it was the battery so I had that replaced. When I was driving it after leaving the repair shop the car died again. At the suggestion of my sister I took the car the next day to a auto parts store they plugged in the machine to read the codes it came back p0335 the crank shaft sensor. I had to order a new one and replace it and the check engine light has yet to go off. Today while doing some research on this problem I find out that this is a problem for this vehicle. I have never heard about the recall that I keep reading about while doing this research. I am scared to drive my car and scared to drive it with my kids in it. The car is a 2004 Nissan Sentra se with a 1. 8 engine. I have not had a chance to road test it to see if it will continue to shut off now that the sensor has been replaced because I am scared to drive it for an extended period. I have yet to see if the problem has been corrected but from what I have been reading I doubt that it has been.

11 Crankshaft Position Sensor problem of the 2004 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 02/15/2009

Nissan Sentra 2004 engine automatically shuts off when driving. Could possibly cause an accident. 1. 8l. I've had a mechanic run a computer test on the engine and says that the crank shaft sensor is malfunctioning, which is causing the engine to shut off. I have read about a few other people experiencing this problem and would like for you to please look into it. Thank you.

12 Crankshaft Position Sensor problem of the 2003 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 02/08/2009

I have a 2003 Nissan Sentra gxe 1. 8 l. My car has cut off or will not stop properly since the incident date. I took the car to autozone and the error that came up where p0462 and p0335. I checked the with the haynes book and to correct the p0462 problem I have to replace the fuel pump and p0335 is the crankshaft sensor. I have noticed that many of the complaints of the website are the for the same problems I am having. I also called Nissan consumer hotline was told my VIN does not fall within the recall and I have same size engine for the recall. I feel because my Sentra is cheapest model of the Sentra's that is reason it is not apart of the recall.

13 Crankshaft Position Sensor problem of the 2005 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 12/10/2008

Nissan refuses to follow through on their recall, NHTSA campaign id number 07v527000. On 12/10/08 I was driving my 2005 Nissan Sentra on the highway, just cruising, not accelerating or decelerating, when suddenly my engine had a strong pull back, and the check engine light came on. 2 days later I brought my vehicle to autozone for a free diagnostics, and they printed me a report that listed that there was a problem with the crankshaft position sensor. I looked here on NHTSA for recalls, and found there was one directly dealing with my problem. The recall clearly states "dealers will reprogram the ecm free of charge. " when I brought my vehicle to the dealership, they said they cannot reprogram the ecm because my check engine light is on. First, it does not mention that in the recall. Second, my check engine light is on because of the crankshaft sensor, which it also states in the recall summary "the crankshaft position sensor can overheat causing a brief interruption in the signal output from the sensor. " so since then, I have been on the phone numerous times with the regional manager, who finally today, 1/9/09, told me I need to pay $95 for a diagnostics at a Nissan dealership, for them to consider replacing the acknowledged faulty sensor, and do the reprogramming. Which, she admitted, they will most likely not do under "good will". So I simply asked the manager, do you understand how "insane" that is that you are telling me that I have to pay $95 for a diagnostics that I already have, to get Nissan to consider fixing the faulty part which they most likely will not do. The manager said, "yes, that is 'insane', but that is policy and procedure. " if I am not willing to get the diagnostics done at Nissan, there is nothing she can do for me, and my file is closed. So, in the end, Nissan will not perform their recall nor fix the part they acknowledge is faulty in the recall.

14 Crankshaft Position Sensor problem of the 2002 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 09/08/2007

My car stalled out on road twice. The mil came on; ecm failed. Nissan of union city, GA, diagnosed ecm failure; said needed replacement. I then found there is a recall concerning "sulfur" that could cause corrosion of ecm; Nissan never notified me of such. They told me they'd perform the foam and crank sensor recalls; they didn't as found out later. Advisor told me that the ecm replacement would be covered if there was burning or melting of the foam around ecm. I argued that "burning or melting" is not required for ecm failure since recall stated failures were caused by foam releasing sulfur gas during curing. I contacted Nissan na and told them my argument that Nissan should cover the ecm cost since they never notified me of the recall and that the dealers explanation for ecm failure didn't make sense according to recall. If the ecm's fail due to sulfur out gassing during curing, he cannot he say failure of the ecm was not due to the recall due to lack of burning or melting of the foam. After much delay, Nissan na finally told me about 16 days later that they were not going to cover cost of ecm replacement because dealer said the ecm failure was due to age and mileage. This is not logical. I replaced ecm. When I took apart my ecm box, I noticed they only took the foam from above the ecm and not foam below ecm and video taped. Recall calls for taking out both foams from ecm box. It's obvious they never took out ecm to inspect to say "there is no burning or melting". They failed to properly perform the recall. I contacted Nissan na about this failure, but they said my case was closed. Just today, my car stalled out again after new ecm, and it had an error code for a crankshaft position sensor malfunction. They claim to have performed the crankshaft position sensor recall. But crankshaft sensor in my car looks as old as car. I believe they didn't perform that recall as well. I think Nissan is using foam recall to cover up bad ecm's from 2000-2003 and make money.

15 Crankshaft Position Sensor problem of the 2003 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 03/15/2007

Vehicle would stall without warning at low speeds authorized Nissan dealer confirmed failure to crank sensor dealer replaced crank sensor and completed ecm reflash I do not have the old part. However the vehicle has been running fine ever since the repair. Nissan issued a recall for the same concerns which have the same repair but states that only 2002,2005,and 2006 models are affected. My car is a 2003 Sentra ser and was supposedly not affected. I do not buy into that response.

16 Crankshaft Position Sensor problem of the 2001 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 07/26/2005

1. Power windows (both front driver and passenger side front) failed to operate properly in my 2001 Nissan Sentra VIN: 3n1cb51d31l494755 within 12 month after it was purchased brand new. I took it to the Nissan dealer (coral springs Nissan) and was told that it was not under warranty and was not manufacturing defect. I recently search on the internet and found many other 2001 Nissan Sentra encountred the same problem. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. My second problem started recently where my car's engine suddenly quits running after 15-20 minutes of normal driving. If I let it cool down and wait 10-15 minutes, it starts and runs for another 10 minutes before quiting again. My Sentra was recalled once( campain#: 01v357000) in Jan 2004 to replace the fault crank shaft sensors, yet I am still having this problem. On NHTSA website I see information about campaign#: 03v455000. ,however Nissan customer service is not acknowledging that crank shaft sensors in my car need to be further replaced for the second time. Please review my situation and advise. Best regards, imran khan 3022 grandiflora dr. Greenacres, f: 33467. 561-346-4375.
