While driving on the highway the tachometer fell to zero and the vehicle stalled while in gear thus causing the vehicle to decrease speed quickly, the only way to restart the car while in motion is to bump start using the clutch. The check engine light turned on after this incident. After this many misfires occurred while drive including stalls while driving which is very dangerous because the vehicle will stop quickly. I researched online to find that other Nissan models have had this problem the Sentra/altima. I also check some recalls and it does show some Sentras and altimas have been affected. However when I contact both the dealer where I purchased the car and Nissan north America they said that the 2003 Nissan Sentra se-r spec v was not affected, and that it was regular maintenance. I will take my vehicle to the dealership to have it looked at. This is very dangerous and have almost crash 3 times. I suggest all who have this problem not to drive their vehicle.

Car was left at home for 4 days while on vacation. Upon return the vehicle would not turn over. It would crank, but would not start. Had vehicle towed to local shop who determined that the computer was at fault. He charged me the diagnostic fee of $90. 00, printed out a page showing that there was a service bulletin on the matter and advised me to bring the vehicle back to Nissan. Brought vehicle back and Nissan wanted me to leave it with them so they could duplicate the problem. This was unacceptable since my daughter needs the vehicle for work. This problem only happened once, but reading what others have said it appears to be an uncorrected problem. Nissan should check into this. . . By the way, it took 2 weeks to get a service appointment with Nissan.

Vehicle(2002 Nissan Sentra gxe) becomes rough and the engine stop intermittently while driving the vehicle. Taken the vehicle to the dealership, the ecm (engine control module) was detected to be bad. It was replaced at a cost of $95. 00. The vehicle odometer was showing about 47,000 miles. Talked to the Nissan manufacturer and I was told that all recalls were already done on this vehicle on March 24th, 2004 at stevens creek Nissan. This included rectifying the defects related to ecm. However the ecm became bad again. There may be defects which have not come to the review. Please help to identify the defects and make the vehicle safe on the road.

Ref: Nissan Sentra gxe year 2000, VIN# 3n1cb51d0yl354320. Since purchase of this used car in August 2003, over a period of 8 months I have had many problems with "check engine light" coming on often and rattling of axle/suspension on left side. After bringing to dealer for repair under warranty and each time the problem comes up next day or 2 weeks later. I have had the special-order from japan ecm module replaced 3 times after 3 month wait each time. I also have had front wheel axle and/or suspension replaced 3 times in the past year. I have had 2 or more recalls performed on the car in 2004. As of 12/14/04, there is a problem of poor or slow engine performance and raggedness when driving. Refer to NHTSA campaign id # 01v174000 and 03v477000 and 03v455000 for references. I have copies of service records for this car if you would like to receive them. Please advise. Randy d. Wietrick

Several times the vehicle starts shaking, not starting at all and running rough. It was a ecm recall performed but after that several problems occurred and related to the same ecm. However, the vehicle is no longer under warranty and I have to pay for all these problems. The ecm was replaced by the time, the problem is still there, I am getting the same diagnostic p0300 and the vehicle is dead. Poor quality on this Nissan. I have a 1996 Sentra which is by far more reliable than this junk!.

Since soon after the purchase of the vehicle if you start the vehicle and then move it a short distance and turn it off, you can not restart it, you have to hold down the gas pedal and crank it until it starts, or wait till later to start it. Sister had same model and year Nissan exact same problem. Dealer said there is nothing they can do, but it is a common problem. Now at 98k miles you turn off the car and the fan continues to run must disconnect the battery to stop it. Many electrical problems.
