3 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2018 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 08/08/2020

Attempted to start vehicle in a parking lot and engine would not turn over. Electrically everything turned on but engine would not start. Had to attempt to start the car a few times before the engine would actually turn over. Purchased my car a few days ago from hertz car sales and this started happening more and more frequently every time I attempt to start the car. I read all the posts related to this type of 2018, and appears this is a common problem, looks like it should be recalled.

8 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2018 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 08/09/2019

I was in the parking lot stationary, attempting to leave the store, and my vehicle would not start due to the brake sensor malfunctioning. I drive a 2018 Nissan Sentra and it is push start. At the time it was mid day and the weather was about 102. My eight month and a half pregnant girlfriend had to wait in the parking lot for approximately 20 minutes in the heat until the vehicle started to work again. After one google search I was able to find out that this issue is quite frequent and needs to be addressed. This is happened on four separate occasions prior to this and all of them happened between 21,500 and 23,500 miles. This isunacceptable for a one-year-old vehicle and could've led to something way more dangerous in the event we had our newborn child with us.

17 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2012 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 08/07/2014

Daughter driving car on interstate when engine died. Was driving in left lane and narrowly avoided getting hit when maneuvering to shoulder on right. Problem turned out to be defective maf (mass air flow) sensor. No indication of trouble (check engine light, rough running, etc) prior to engine shutoff. Do not understand why car would not go into default (open loop mode) at this point rather than just shutting down. Vehicle would not restart. This is ever bit as dangerous as gm's ignition switch problem causing engine shutdown. Extremely dangerous when driving at interstate speeds in heavy traffic and vehicle engine just quits causing loss of power steering and power brakes and little time to react to get out of the way of other traffic.

18 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2010 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 11/12/2012

Left car with hazard lights on and engine off for about 10 minutes and when tried to start car again, car would not start. I had just drove the car for my morning commute of about 1 hour. This is the second time this has occurred on this vehicle's stock battery. I am suspicious that there are recalls for the same part on different vehicles, but not the one I have.

19 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2010 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 10/27/2012

Positive battery arcing/voltage drop, causing ecm reset, vehicle fails to start, stranded by side of road. This is an existing recall and needs to be expanded to cover other months of mfg. This is a pour design that allows a loss of voltage to cause the ecm to be damaged and/or need reprogrammed.

21 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2007 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 12/05/2011

On two occasions while making right turns, the engine failed to operate. The first occurance, the engine restarted and appeard to operate normaly. The second occurance, the engine failed to restart and the vehicle was towed to Nissan maintenance where it was determined that the battery was leaking acid, which was ingested in to the air intake, destroying the air filter and causing severe contamination of the spark plugs and fuel injector system, as well as corrosive damage to the framing. Had this engine failed on the freeway, it would have jeapordized the lives of the occupants. Action is being addressed with the battery manufacturer, but this report is implemented to address the poor design of the vehicle which placed the battery above the air intake, without provisions for containment in the event of such an acid leak. 22 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2010 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 09/14/2011

The first incident I was reversing out of spot and the engine just shut off, I had no control of gas however lights and dashboard errors were displayed. I put car in park, turned ignition off and tried to start up car with success . So I thought maybe something strange happened and I went on with my life. Over the next few years this kept happening months even years apart at the strangest times. For example the most recent time it happened I had stopped at a stop sign and when starting to accelerate the car just shut off like it has so many times . By now I started thinking maybe this is more than a coincidence and actually saw a recall online for the same problem. Only this time the car wouldn't start back up. I had it towed to Nissan and told them my suspicions on the recall and I get a call back a few days later saying I need a new engine and they can't check the electrical recall bc they can't start the car . What do I do now!?.

23 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2001 Nissan Sentra

After the replacement the rpm reading would remain at 2000 and the speed would remain at 30 mph without depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The mechanic stated that the idle air control valve would have to be replaced because the wires had been damaged when the computer was installed. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

25 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2003 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 01/26/2005

I currently drive a 2003 Nissan Sentra gxe, 1. 8l 4cyl. Car. (purchased in or around April 2003 from universal Nissan) almost a year after buy the Sentra I noticed that the car wouldn't start or if it did start it would take a while to start. . . Meaning I would have to hold down the key while it tries to crank itself on. I do this all the time & at times when I finally get the car to start 3 to 5 seconds will go by and the car will turn off & I have to restart it. So I took the car into Nissan or orange, CA and they totally blew me off, telling me that they couldn't do anything because I didn't noticed if the engin light come on. Which leads me here today. My car is getting worst. . . I noticed a NHTSA campaign id #03v455000, Nissan recall #r3022 and a number for Nissan I call Nissan (Jan. 26, 2005) and I'm told there was no recall for my car because I drive a 1. 8l 4 cyl car and not the car they have on their recall list which is 2. 5l 4cyl. The guy only makes a file for me and updates my address. They didn't do anything to help me except update my personal information. I tell the rep. That I noticed on another website that my car make and model was affected by the recall and they didn't even reseach it. . Read more...
