In the evening of 12/23/2015 when entering freeway 101 in CA at the gilroy entrance, I pressed the accelerator pedal in my vehicle in order to reach the freeway speed of 65 mph. When pressing the accelerator I didn't get the acceleration going and I experienced a sudden jerk motion in the car. The car did not accelerate up to the 65 mph and I had to enter the freeway at a speed of about 40-50 mph. If a driver had been entering the freeway behind me at regular acceleration, probably he would had crash into my car. After noticing the lack of acceleration, I felt the car tried to change gears but didn't, experiencing more jerking when pressing the accelerator. After driving in the freeway for 13 miles, I exit the freeway and the checkengine light came on. I was able to drive home and next day drive to the local mechanic for a quick checkup. The local mechanic did a computer diagnosis and determined there was a problem with the transmission and the transmission solenoid. My car has only 73,179 miles and is is pretty unusual that such a driven vehicle fails at this mileage. 2 more diagnostics were run with the computer description stating clutch pressure disengagement performance. Transmission fluid levels fine. This kind of failure is inadmissible in a car this old and very dangerous in a highway scenario.

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated the clutch pedal failed. The vehicle stopped on a hill and would not shift into gear causing the vehicle to roll backwards forcing him to use the emergency brake in order to stop the vehicle. The dealer stated they had to check for fluid leaks on the master and slave cylinders before replacing the manual transmission. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 100,000.

I was driving at night, when I noticed that my clutch had a little more "play" in the pedal than normal. I thought this was my imagination until within another 15 minutes of driving I noticed that the gears started shifting harder than normal as well. Within another few minutes, the clutch pedal was almost all the way in, and the clutch was not releasing causing me not to be able to shift at all. I was able to pull off to the side of the road, and get the car into second gear and drive the remainder of the way home without incident. Once home with the car, I inspected the clutch pedal and the clutch cable under the hood and noticed that the piece the clutch cable attaches to (the withdrawal lever) was cracked and almost completely broken in half. The car was then towed to my mechanic who informed me that after adjusting the clutch system and test driving it, he had the same problem I observed, and almost couldn't get the car back to his shop from the test drive. He informed me that the entire clutch assembly would need to be replaced as it had obviously failed, as well as the defective withdrawal lever. He found no obvious reason for the failure of the clutch and lever, other than manufacturer defect. He did not feel that the failure was the result of normal wear and tear or abuse.
