Cvt transmission -available upon request to inspect. Safety was at risk as I was in flow of traffic and suddenly lost power to the transmission slowing suddenly, cars behind me had to swerve to keep from hitting my car. Car has not been inspected at this time, there were no warnings or symptoms prior to the failure. During normal operation at interstate speed speed over 60 mph. The cvt transmission slips and experiences a sudden loss of power making it difficult to safely operate on the interstate. This condition also occurs when leaving a stop. The vehicle loses power and does not want to accelerate properly under normal operation. Causing cars behind me to have to slow down to prevent accidents.

I am writing to express my deep concern and frustration regarding the transmission issues in my 2018 Nissan Sentra. It is widely known, including to the past recalls of similar models that Nissan has an ongoing problems with its continually very reliable transmission cvt. Despite this, no recall has been issued for 2018 Sentra, even though the many customers myself include our experienced significant transmission problems. I had my transmission replaced in 2023 not knowing it was already a problem with Nissan. It was covered through my extended warranty. Now 2 years later I am having the same problem again.
The contact owns a 2019 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission downshifted, and the vehicle stalled. The message to see “owner's manual” was displayed. The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 134,145.

I took this vehicle to the dealership, and the dealership said that the transmission needs to be replaced. I sold this car to surburban Chevrolet of ann arbor, but they appear to be selling the car without fixing the transmission. It is not safe to drive this car because the vehicle is jerky and may not change the gear properly in the highway.

I filed a complaint a couple months ago, about my car driving erratic and slipping of gears , jolting, cutting off in traffic etc; now this complaint is about an accident caused by the jolting of the car which crashed my car into the back of someone else’s… this car is a death trap… Nissan needs to be held responsible for these death trap cars cvt transmission is its major problem… this season of car was recalled but my car was not…. It was a major recall on these cars I need my transmission repaired by Nissan…. My first complaint was of driving disasters jerking of transmission slipping cutting off in traffic my life’s been in danger since I bought this car now I damaged my car and someone else car do to Nissan’s negligence…. Not holding up to repairing their malfunctioning cars….
As I was driving on the interstate, traffic came to a complete stop. When the traffic resumed, approximately 2-3 minutes later, I took my foot off the brake to press the gas pedal and vehicle would not drive. I tried shifting the gears to see if the vehicle was stuck in gear, it was not. My vehicle came to a complete halt in a "kill zone" area of the interstate without any mechanical malfunction warning and this is unsatisfactory. My transmission was replaced in 2020 because of a recall issue and now not even 5 years later, I am having issues with the same transmission. The dealer informed me that the cvt transmissions on my model and others of the same year, are no good. They have several other vehicles waiting for the same repair with the same issues. I truly believe this issue could potentially lead to a life-or-death situation especially with the issue coming out of nowhere. I am requesting that a national recall be issued on the transmissions before some potentially loses their life, such as myself, in a "kill zone" area when the mechanical issue took place. I am looking forward to a swift resolution.
Transmission is slipping when trying to go up hills. Also crash detection sensor malfunction and these items need recalled. Especially the transmission when I see I'm not the only complaint.
I have a 2016 Nissan Sentra sv with 103k miles on it. I was driving the car, and noticed at stop sign and red lights the car would strain and hesitate when the accelerator was pressed. It would jerk hard then drive normally. The car would also loose power while driving. It would drop from 65 mph to 20 mph. It has done this numerous of times, and I have to try and maneuver off to the side of the highway to avoid a crash. The check engine light illuminated. The car would sit for a few minutes, accelerate, and drive normal. A few minutes later, the cycle starts again. I would also smell as if something was burning. After taking it to the shop, it was determined it was the cvt which was recalled in 2018 for 2013-2017 Nissan Sentra due to faulty cvt's. However, it is based on your VIN number according to Nissan. I did speak to a representative from Nissan consumer affairs and she stated my VIN number should no recalls!!!! I have this car that is doing everything that granted the recall, but because they did not put my VIN number on their list it doesn't qualify. Several transmission shop has told me they do not attempt to repair the cvt they buy a new transmission from Nissan dealership. The price starts at $5200. God please help!!! the check engine light code was a p2859 issues with the power tran transmission.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated while driving approximately 20 mph and attempting to accelerate, the rpms increased but the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact coasted to the side of the road and failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to auto er with giaco, where a mechanic diagnosed the vehicle with transmission failure. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.

2014 Nissan Sentra. Transmission began inexplicably slipping and failed within a month. 120k miles. Very lightly driven, relatively low mileage car, driven for 2 years by our [xxx] daughter. I see there were relatively widespread recalls on various Nissan Sentra cvt transmissions in this time frame and our VIN isn't included but this is definitely a manufacturer problem. She ended up stuck in the middle of a major intersection unable to move, engine running but no drivetrain, had to call 911 for help. Police pushed her out of the way. Emotionally traumatic situation of course. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
While driving car shuts down in traffic!!! cuts off at stop signs!!! cuts off driving up steep roads!!! jerks and jolts forward!!! speeds up and down while gauges fluster!!!! the car slips in and out of gear!!! my life has been in danger since I bought this car… I need the situation taken care of this car is a dear trap and a severe safety hazard!!! this car in whole was recalled I don’t know why Nissan missed my VIN number….
Vehicle began making a whining noise when starting with car in park, accelerating or decelerating. Didn’t seem to drive like normal. I immediately took car to my usual mechanic and was notified it was the cvt transmission and it would need to be replaced. I was made aware of the recall by my mechanic. I contacted Nissan and was told they would not cover it. I’ve kept regular maintenance on my car and it only has 131,000 miles. .
Began to have transmission issues several years ago, slipping and eventually could not even accelerate at all. Had to have a full replacement done in February 2023. Only driven 13,000 miles since replacement and it is slipping and failing again. No major signals or warnings prior to the slipping beginning again. Have had two different shops inspect and confirm transmission is the issue again.
I was driving down the highway and my vehicle all of a sudden started sputtering. The speed dropped quickly as a car almost rear ended me. Then it went back to normal so I continued driving and then it did it again and stopped completely. There’s no check engine light on or any other warnings. Had the vehicle towed to firestone and they told me it is the transmission. They said I should call Nissan dealership because my model and year is known for this problem and should be a recall. So I call Nissan and they said yes there is some recalls for that year and model but my VIN number isn’t on recall list. That doesn’t make since to me. Are they installing different transmissions in the same year and model?.

Started having problems within first two months of purchase, bought new in April 24. Charge ports stopped working. Also reported to dealer electric burn smell. Hesitate to start/stop with push button. Feels like loses power while driving. Rpms revs unexpectedly. Almost wrecked a few times due to this. Happens during continuous driving, not stop and go traffic. Sometimes when put in park, it will jerk hard. Sometimes when put in park and turn off, doors don’t unlock automatically. Car will jerk when starting at times. Forward collision light comes on often. Sounds like front rotors or something in the front rubs while driving. Auto engine off/on sometimes doesn’t work. The first time I took it to the dealer, they didn’t record their visual inspection. They blamed a lot of stuff on rodent nests. The second time I took it to the dealership, I made it a point to have the visual inspection recorded and sent to me. Surprise, no rodent nests found! both inspections were completed in less than two hours even though I told them I could stay as long as needed. Since then, the burning smell has worsened.
Transmission has failed. The car will not change speed when pressing on gas. Causing danger on the road when driven. The issue has been confirmed by an independent auto service. No warning lamps or identifiers has been present with this issue. The vehicle itself has only 97000 miles. This transmission issue with this vehicle is a known problem and many owners of this vehicle has reported this exact issue.

The vehicle just slows down and will not go while driving it. This could cause wrecks while driving and car just slows down and won't go. This has a cvt transmission that needs to be recalled. Nissan dealers and other automotive shops have said the cvt transmission in Nissans need to be recalled.
The transmission gave out. There was no warning lights given, no issues.
The continuously variable transmission (cvt) in my vehicle failed prematurely, leading to significant safety concerns. The car experienced severe jerking, hesitation, and loss of power while driving, especially at highway speeds. Eventually, the transmission stopped functioning properly, making it unsafe to drive. There were no warning lights, messages, or dashboard indicators to alert me of any issues before the failure. A dealership confirmed that the transmission fluid was burnt, contaminated with metal shavings, and the internal components had failed. However, due to the vehicle’s design, the cvt fluid is sealed and inaccessible to consumers for routine checks or maintenance, meaning the issue was undetectable until complete failure occurred. This defect poses a serious risk, as many drivers have reported sudden power loss, delayed acceleration, and unexpected breakdowns in traffic. Nissan has had a history of cvt failures in previous models, leading to warranty extensions, but similar issues persist in newer models without proper acknowledgment. If left unaddressed, this could lead to more drivers experiencing dangerous situations on the road.
When I go up hill my car doesn't want to automatically shift, my rpms start revving, and the car won't go over 50 mph. It's been an on going issue since I purchased the vehicle in 2020. Ive taken it to Nissan on more than a couple occasions and the assured me there was no issues. Now as of last week after I brake my car loses driving power but doesn't lose actual power. Now my check engine light is on.
The transmission failed. The car just stopped moving forward while my son was driving in traffic. It was 12:00 in the afternoon on a Friday so local traffic was a bit heavy. Traffic had to go onto the other side of the road creating a hazard. Luckily the car behind was following at a safe distance and was able to stop. There was no previous warnings that this was going to happen. The car had to be towed to a repair shop. The repair shop called Nissan but they said they could not offer any assistance with repairing the transmission even though this is a known problem to them.

When I connect an obd 2 meter. It cannot read the powertrain and it’s not the first time that I haven’t been able to diagnosed the car. I’ve taken it to a dealership. I’ve been used scan tools from a dealership and mechanics shop. The powertrain isn’t readable it spiders when I drive as in like it feels like the transmission is skipping or going out. It stopped while I was driving by itself like the car brake, and then kept going like it was skipping a gear or had a hard time going to the next gear as well as when we were pulling into a driveway, the wheel on the passenger side went underneath the car like it was only attached by the upper control arm because the lower arm came out of the joint. I’m a driver side a tire is at an angle. The tire is about to fall off or the lower control arm is about to come out of socket impacts the safety of my children and myself when driving down the road is not safe or structurally stable to go down a highway even.
The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle started shuddering. The contact stated that the engine revved up to high. While driving, the vehicle stopped suddenly, drove, and then stopped again. The contact continuously moved the gear shifter and the vehicle moved forward. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the transmission solenoids were defective. The contact called an unknown local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
On December 23rd, my 2014 Nissan Sentra lost all acceleration power while driving. The car was then towed to a nearby independent service center where they discovered a faulty transmission. I was made aware of the cvt transmission recall by Nissan and I believe this is the issue with my car. I would like to have my car inspected by an authorized Nissan dealership so that the proper actions can be taken to repair all malfunctions.
Upon purchasing the vehicle on December 21, 2024, I immediately noticed a delay in acceleration when pressing the gas pedal, particularly after the vehicle had been idling for some time. This delay creates a significant safety risk, especially in situations where quick acceleration is needed, such as merging onto highways or avoiding accidents. Additionally, the vehicle displays incorrect fuel mileage readings, leading to poor fuel consumption and inaccurate fuel gauge readings, further jeopardizing safety due to the potential misjudgment of remaining fuel. During the test drive with the service manager, he almost got into two accidents because of the delay in acceleration. He acknowledged that the issue was caused by the updated cvt transmissions and stated that it would be best to return the car. Despite this, the dealership was unable to fix the problem after multiple visits. I was advised to contact Nissan consumer affairs, who were aware of the delay in acceleration. However, after following up with Nissan, I was directed to file a complaint with the better business bureau (bbb). The issue has been replicated by the service techs, two sales managers, the service manager, and the dealership owner. The service manager confirmed the acceleration delay during the test drive and recommended returning the vehicle due to its unsafe nature. This delay continues to pose a serious safety concern, and I am deeply concerned that it could lead to an accident if not properly addressed.
