About a week ago, my car started making noises when idling, which I thought little of because my car only has around 76,000 miles on it and is well taken care of. Over the next few days, the noise became a full-on rattle (like an amplified version of bike gears grinding). When driving, the car will lurch forward and will jerk even harder when turning. Within the first few minutes of driving each time I use the car, it has no power and feels as if it wants to "pull back" and hinder me from moving forward. I've taken the car to two mechanics and have had the transmission looked over. Both mechanics believe that the transmission is the underlying problem. After researching cvc transmissions on other 2014 Sentras, I've discovered that many other owners have had the same issue with even less mileage than my own car. Many of these Sentra drivers felt unsafe driving their vehicles. I too, feel that continuing to drive my car is a hazard to me and other drivers as the faltering and jerking of the engine are unpredictable which could cause a potential wreck. Nissan Sentra transmissions from 2003-2010 have been recalled to the best of my knowledge, but not for the succeeding years of the same model.

I have been getting grinding noises from my transmission since the fall of 2016. Took the car into the georgesville Nissan shop in columbus, OH where they stated they can't recreate the noise or hear it even though the noise is noticeable when the car starts to move after sitting still for at least half an hour. It sounds as if someone isn't pushing on the clutch before changing gears, the problem is though this is an automatic transmission. I have gone to the shop a few times where I've been given the same thing, they can't recreate it. My car was under warranty at the time and now it's not. I feel as though this was them trying to not replace my transmission under warranty. The car was around 90k miles when the problem started and I've been there two or three times. Now my car is at 123k miles and I am no longer covered by the warranty. I am currently at work and can not upload my receipts from my visit but will send pictures when need be. I'm sure I have a video I recorded of the noise to, if not, I have a dashcam that I'm sure has recorded the sound many times over.

2011 Nissan Sentra with 80,000 miles and the cvt transmission is making a high pitch noise when accelerating. It increases in rpm but doesn't increase power. Nissan is aware of the issue with these transmissions but refuse to do anything about it if the car is out of warranty. This could be very dangerous if trying to pass another vehicle with oncoming traffic. This and many other problems with the cvt transmission are all over the internet. They extended the warranty for earlier models but won't do anything for newer ones. When I called and opened a complaint with Nissan consumer affairs they called the next day and told me there would be no assistance from Nissan and as far as they were concerned the case was closed. I took the car to a Nissan dealer and the vehicle tech said he thought it was the cvt going bad. He said they have a lot of problems with cvt's and his opinion was he wouldn't own one.

With no event associated, my transmission began to shutter and rattle when I slowed to a near stop, then accelerated. I took it to the dealership when it was still under warranty and asked to have a technician take a ride with me to hear the noise and feel the rattle. The transmission rattled four times as we circled the block. His answer was "that is nothing, some times that happens when the road is wet. " I told him that it happens wet or dry and he again dismissed it as "nothing to worry about. " well it is not 'nothing. ' the shutter/rattle occurs when I slowdown into a turn, then accelerate. Or if I am on a straight-away and brake, then accelerate it will shutter. I have read many complaints that sound too similar to be a coincidence. My wife is affraid to drive the car and I am concerned for our safety.
An engineer said that car had been overheating in the transmission for a long period of time. My service team did not know about it. The car failed at 89,000 miles and a month before I owned it 3 years. The engineer said that every 50000 miles the 2013 Sentra needs a $4000 plus new transmission. I turned the car on after parking and while turning the car everything seemed fine. I put my foot on the gas and the car would not accerate at all and made chunking noises. I parked the car and called a tow truck. The car had two major checkups at the dealership July-August and was assured that nothing was wrong with the car. Engineer said it had been overheating during the time of the major check up. Nissan tech at service center swore my car was in perfect working condition.

Vehicle was experiencing stalling on a stop and hesitating in reverse for approximately 4 months. Thought it was due to fuel pump issues. Then, heard a loud clicking noise when I took my foot off the brake to slow. Was told my transmission needed to be replaced. Nissan has an extended 120,000 warranty on transmission. My vehicle had 120,815 miles. They only replaced 50%, causing me to pay $1500. These Nissan cvt transmission clearly have a significant defect causing these issues that Nissan has acknowledged by doubling the warranty, but this is insufficient. The transmissions should have been recalled. I should not have paid anything for the repairs. Additionally, the replacement transmission was a Nissan remanufactured with refurbished parts, not new. Based on the numerous consumers reporting they have had to replace transmissions in these vehicles 2 or 3 times, I will not be keeping this vehicle, nor will I ever buy a Nissan product again.

I bought a 2012 Nissan Sentra I kept up with all the work for the car so to be sure nothing would go wrong. About a year the car started making noise. I told the service dept. But they did nothing on 07-10-2012 the service dept told me I needed a new transmission the car is only two years old. The car began to run really bad. Upon accelerating the car makes a awful clunking noise that is not only heard but felt on the floor under your feet this happens often. The dealer stated this was normal. I pressed the gas pedal while switching lanes and the engine revved up, but the car did not move. It took the transmission several seconds to catch up to the engine.
I only had my car for about 10 months. I keep my car updated with the maintenance. I drove to las vegas, nevada Friday afternoon. My car was running great I get to las vegas nevada I here this loud grinding crinkly noise coming from my engine or transmission. I take it to planet Nissan in las vegas nevada. They took forever to even take me as a customer. Then they come out and say you are not eligible for a rental and your transmission went out. They proceeded to tell me that I will be responsible for the car as far as picking it up when its fixed. This is the worst experience I had with cars. This is the third time something bad happens to this car and its supposed to be brand new. I bought it with 32 miles on it. Mind you all this was on a trip I took to vegas with my family. My two year old son was drained from this experience having to spend 6 hours at planet Nissan. They even try selling me a another new Sentra.
The following problem with the car can potentially cause bodily injury. Please record and compare with similar complaints. When the vehicle is warmed up (after about 20 minutes of driving) and the gas pedal is pressed genteelly, it experiences severe rocking back and forth motion during the driving. It unexpectedly accelerates and then unexpectedly decelerates, occasionally to almost complete stop, repeatedly. The tachometer reading will suddenly jump to above 3000 rpm and swiftly jump back down below 1000 --€“ all within 2-3 seconds. Then it returns to normal range at 1000 -1600 rpm depends on amount of gas pedal applied. The car accelerates and decelerates in sync with the rpm changes. When the car is decelerating, the car makes squeaking noise and it feels like the brakes are applied to the maximum. If the gas pedal is continuously pressed at the same level, above symptoms repeat at uneven intervals, frequently in between every 5-10 seconds. If the gas pedal is pressed more, the above symptoms get worse with larger range of rpm changes, louder noise, and more severe jerking. When the vehicle is stopped with the engine on, it is hard to start moving and accelerate -- lack of power and the rpm suddenly jumping up and down. According to the dealer, a coil inside the transmission is at fault and the connection between the engine and the transmission was assembled wrongly.
Purchased a 2004 Nissan Sentra brand new with 137 miles on it, 2 days after purchase, heard noise coming from car whenever changing into gear, (automatic trans) reported it to local Nissan dealership, scheduled service appointment, took in for service, found that transmission was defective, replacement unit was ordered, was instructed to continue to use the vehicle until parts arrived, car has stalled in traffic, while traveling down the road at 45mph, and has also stalled sitting still at a light. The dealership replaced defective transmission with a refurbished unit, all seemed fine for a few hundred miles, now same noises and complications from original transmission are in this unit, along with other problems. Ow vehicle has to go in for service again on replacement transmission.

Consumer stated that when the vehicle reached a speed of 60 mph a whistling noise could be heard from the transmission. The consumer took the vehicle to three different dealers at least ten different times and they all told him that the noise was normal with this vehicle type . The consumer spoke to the manufacturer a few times but currently they don't want to deal with the problem. The vehicle experienced electrical problems and the dealer replaced all the electric cables. The brake pads were replaced at 10000 miles and at 20000 miles the rotors had to be resurfaced.
