1 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2014 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 05/28/2019

2014 Nissan Sentra broke down while in motion. (parking it in a spot in a medical office building lot. ) while trying to shift gears, to reverse and straighten out, it simply turned off. I restarted and it ran normally in "park" and "neutral," but stalled every time I put it into any gear. It had to be towed to a local shop where I was informed it would need a new cvt, and then towed to the dealer. I believe this car is a safety hazard because the problem occurred while the vehicle was in motion and it is only through luck that this did not happen on the road at speed. Subsequent research online indicts these issue are common to the Sentra and other models from the same company, that it has TSB's and also many similar complaints on this site. The car has also been to the dealer recently, who replaced the valve body and the cvt fluid, but the cvt failed again within 90 days. Now, the whole transmission needs replacing and it's being done so, in my opinion' with full knowledge by Nissan that it is likely to fail again. The car also had transmission issues in the past with the o/d off light engaging while at highway speed without my knowingly touching the button on the shift column. It is a safety issue to drive a car with a transmission that shuts down a car while it is being driven, or that shifts out of overdrive while at highway speed, without the driver making a concious choice to do so.

2 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2016 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 03/30/2019

Car not even 24 hours old, the car would not start with pushing the starter button, the rmp would be at 3 at idleing. March 2019, engine light came on, and went to the dealer. Sensor in fuel pump had to be replaced, few weeks power train problems. In the middle of intersection of route 45 in greys lake, IL. The car would not shift out of first gear and almost dies in the middle of intersection. Shut the car off, the car would run normal for awhile, then the shifting gears and bogging would start all over again. A week latter the engine is making a whinning noise.

3 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2013 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 03/22/2019

The cvt transmission slips at various rpms and speeds. Traveling down a hill in the city with a steep grade the transmission will down shift and throw the rpms up to 5k where you can barely stop it. It slips to where basically it has no power to the wheels when driving on the interstate at 70mph at 3k rpms. It is like you threw it into neutral. There is no power to the wheels but engine speed shoots to 6k rpms and car speed decreases rapidly. This happens daily. Several times a day. I have taken the car to the dealer and been told it is the way the cvt transmission operates. That is a bunch of mess no transmission is meant to slip out of gear. My personal mechanic says he replaces 3-5 a week of the cvt transmissions with as little as 40-50k miles on them. These things are a death trap. My car has 107k on it and I've been complaining to the Nissan dealer since 20k. There should be a recall before there are serious injuries from the loss of power of surging. I have a 3 month old and this is my only car to get to work. Dealer wants 4. 5k and mechanic wants 3. 8k. I'm still making payments on the thing for another year.

5 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2000 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 10/03/2002

When driving this automatic car in the city (at 20 - 40 mph), it shifts out of gear into neutral. Acceleration is lost. Reengagement of the transmission is accomplished by manually shifting the car into second gear. The problem occurs only every couple of weeks and cannot be diagnosed by o'neill or state line Nissan dealerships. The problem has happened to two different drivers, and once when a third person was in the car. Nissan says it will not fix what it cannot diagnose, so it has no proposed remedy for this potentially dangerous condition. Mr.
