1 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2007 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 08/14/2016

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Titan. While driving 40 mph, the front passenger side caliper bolt detached from the vehicle. As a result, the caliper loosened, which damaged the tire and locked the wheel. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 64,000.

2 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2005 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 08/09/2013

While moving forward from park, the rear tires locked up. I reversed and then moved forward to try to free the tires. The emergency brake was off. It took several times of shifting gears before the vehicle would move freely. I researched the internet and found several other Titan owners had the same problem. They traced the cause to the rear emergency brake pads dislodging from the hub and becoming lodged in the rear rotor. My mechanic removed the rear rotor on the right side and the emergency brake pads fell out. The left side pads were still mounted but with one poke with a screwdriver, the pads fell out. One youtube video shows a Titan with this problem but additionally the brake pad broke the rear caliper bracket.

3 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 06/29/2010

The brakes on my 2004 Nissan Titan have been replaced 3 times in the last 1. 5 years. Nissan admits there is a problem, and provided an upgrade kit the consumers have to pay for. I have the upgrade kit the last 3 times the brakes were changed, and they still go bad. This morning without warning the caliper dove in the rotor, and I nearly went' thru an intersection. Something needs to be done about these vehicle now. There are thousands of complaints about the brakes on these trucks. When will the dot make Nissan do something about this?.

4 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 08/12/2008

The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Titan. While driving approximately 50 mph on normal road conditions; proceeding to make a right turn, the "brake" warning light indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. Pressure was applied to the brake pedal followed by a loud a clicking noise. The contact was forced to apply extreme pressure to the the brakes in order to slow the vehicle down. The contact was able to drive into a parking lot; however, the warning indicator light remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. The contact was able to continue driving normally. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing. The failure was contributed to the "abs" and the computer code was reset. The driver side caliper also locked and a technician replaced the defective front caliper, front brake pads and resurfaced the front rotors. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was 87,000 and the current mileage was 87,773.

5 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 02/20/2008

Nissan north America has incorrectly defined the condition "brake judder" as steering wheel shake, body vibration or brake pedal pulsation while braking (emphasis mine), especially at highway speeds. My problem manifested itself at highway speeds while no braking was being accomplished, and was extreme after the purchase of new premium tires (toyo open country h/t). While a fix has been offered for "brake judder" as Nissan defines it, I was told at two different Nissan dealers that it would not remedy my problem. My problem surfaced before the 36 month/ unlimited mileage limitation, but I did not utilize the warranty coverage because my situation did not fit the definition. An independent tire dealer mechanic (who used to work for Nissan) indicated that defective rotors were indeed the problem, and internet forums and lemon law websites supported his claim. Since I had exceeded the 36 month limit by 90 days, I elected to let the local independent tire dealer install the Nissan parts. He was correct! problem solved (at least for now). I called Nissans consumer affairs line to complain, and to let them know that I felt that a safety recall should have been implemented because of the extreme safety implications involved--and not the company cost saving measures of a couple of tsbs and a feebly modified basic auto warranty. Nissan is acutely aware that they have a problem. She asked me what Nissan na could do for me? I replied, "pay for the parts and labor that it cost me to fix my truck, which total $747. 65. " she asked if I had the receipts for the repairs and I answered in the affirmative. When I disclosed that and independent tire dealer had installed the Nissan parts (done by a former Nissan technician), reimbursement for parts and labor were resolutely denied because a Nissan dealer didn't do the job (the same folks who told me I no longer had warranty coverage, and that the fix" would not remedy my particular problem). 6 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 02/15/2008

When trying to stop, at any speed, the brake pedal goes to the floor and there is a vibration from under the hood; can also smell brake fluid in the cab. Took the truck in once for the vibration recall and they replaced the calipers, rotors and pads. Then started having the above problem again and took it back to the dealership. Was told that the computer needed reprogrammed and some switches on the power brake booster needed replacing ($550). Have had it back 1 month now and doing it again. Luckily this time was close to dealership and took it in and now they are saying I need a new power brake booster ($700). Have owned 5 other Nissan vehicles and never had this much of a problem, and wonder does someone have to die before a recall is issued for these problems that we are having with the brakes.

7 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 01/03/2008

I bought a Nissan Titan new in may of 2004. Problems with the brakes were immediate. The dealer has replaced the brakes, rotors, etc. A couple of times due to defects. They now say that the brakes are out of warranty so I am doing it on my own and often. This past weekend I almost hit another car because I could not get the truck to stop. I went and bought another set of brakes and rotors. While changing them, noticed that the brakes calipers were cracked and rusted. Had truck towed to Nissan dealer, waiting on a decision from them to see if they will fix them. Truck is under warranty, and extended warranty that I purchased from Nissan. These were suppose to have been replaced by the dealer before, but I don't think they did. I am paying a truck payment every month for a truck that basically sits in my driveway because we are afraid to drive it. We never know if the brakes will work. Nissan doesn't seem to care, even though they have admitted that there is a problem with the braking system design. I fear that someone will be killed if Nissan doesn't step up and put an end to the brake issue.

8 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2005 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 12/10/2006

I bought my 2005 Nissan Titan crew cab 4x4 le new in may of 2005. Since then I have had to have my brakes/rotors replaced and resurfaced 3 times do to sever brake vibration. The first time was at 7500 miles, second was at 15000 miles and now at 25000 miles. This is horrible and very dangerous. The brakes are obviously undersized for a vehicle that is advertised to tow 10,000 lbs, and I am having these problems without ever towing anything.

9 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 06/06/2005

Continued warping of factory front brake rotors. Rotors were replaced once and resurfaced twice. Vehicle only has 10,000 miles. Nissan has not corrected the problem yet.

10 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 03/19/2005

Took my vehicle to the dealer for service on the front brakes because of shuddering and excessive wear. Was told by service rep that there was a service campaign on the brakes because they were undersized for the vehicle. The repair kit would be ordered to replace the rotors, calipers, and pads. I was never notified by Nissan of any defect in the brakes. It took 2 months to get the parts in but not the parts they had discussed. They turned the rotors because they were warped replaced a control arm and replaced the pads. Making the rotor thinner and replacing the pads is not going to resolve the problem. They indicated another "repair kit" would be available in April or may. Meanwhile I continue to drive with the brakes being admittedly undersized for this vehicle.

11 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 03/01/2005

To whom it concerns, I own a 2004 Nissan Titan truck that has a major flaw in the braking system. I seriously think that I will be causing an accident if this problem is not fixed. I've been back to the dealership 3 times to have this problem fixed. They admitt to the faulty brakes sytem, but do not have a permanent fix. I am very concerned for the safety of my family. Please contact Nissan and force them to recall all the Titans and fix this well known problem. I can't believe in the year 2005 it is ok to have thousands of trucks roaming our highways with faulty brakes?.

12 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 02/25/2005

4000 miles on the truck and the brake rotors are warped causing the steering wheel to vibrate. The brake peddle also pulsates when brakes applied.

13 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 02/21/2005

Defective brakes on all Nissan Titan trucks manufactured to date. I have to replace the front brakes every 4000-4500 miles. They shake violently and could easily cause a traffic accident. Nissan does not have a "fix" for this problem and should recall all Nissan Titans at this time for a permanent replacement of the faulty system. I now have 9300 miles on my new 2004 Titan and am currently on my third set of front brakes.

14 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 08/14/2004

At 4345 miles, brake rotors overheating due to non-full-release of calipers causing rotor warp, jerking in steering wheel, damage and overheating of tires, loss of control on wet pavement even at slow speeds, damage to steering components due to shaking caused by warped rotors, blue overheating marks on rotors. I returned the Titan to the dealer at 6:30am. , called back at 2:15pm and was told that I would either have to leave the truck at the dealership or pick it up due to non-availability of parts. This was over 2 months back. Still no parts, shake is still consistent when using the brakes at any pressure and speed.

15 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 07/15/2004

Purchased 2004 Nissan Titan se four door may 23rd for work. I average approximately 3,500 miles per month. The steering wheel started rocking back and forth violently every time I stepped on the brakes after about 4,500 miles. I took it in to the dealer and had the brake disks turned and the pads, bolts, miscellaneous items replaced under warranty. The truck started doing the same thing at 12,000 miles, around September, 2004. This time they replaced the discs, calipers, pads, bolts, everything and made all new again. I drove it and it happened again at 18,000 miles. At this point I was becoming very frustrated and angry at the situation. The Nissan dealer promised me that they had just received the most up to date repair kit from the Nissan factory and that they were being told that this should take care of the problem. The truck was braking fine until I reached 23,000 miles at the end of December, 2004. I spoke to the customer service department at the dealership and lodged a formal complaint. I was asked when was the last time that I had my brakes done and was told that they had a new repair kit since then. I told him that I was told this the last time and yet here I am again with the same problem. I had my brakes done again on Thursday December 30th, 2004. This means that my brakes have been done four times in the past six months since I purchased the vehicle.

16 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 07/01/2004

Steering wheel vibration when applying the brakes. The faster the traveling speed and the harder the braking action the more severe the vibration was.

17 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 06/09/2004

2004 Nissan Titan developed brake "judder" at approximately 4000 miles. Dealer replaced pads and resurfaced rotors - problem remains. Nissan design was faulty - need new calipers and/or rotors.
