Nissan Titan owners have reported 14 problems related to brake sensor (under the service brakes category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Nissan Titan based on all problems reported for the Titan.
The vehicle brakes frequently go out and start to shake and make a springy noise when you push down on them and the brakes lose power and cannot be applied safely. This may lead to a crash and Nissan cannot diagnose this with certainty so intervention from NHTSA is needed. I have learned that there is a possible faulty delta computer sensor and/or brake booster that Nissan cannot problem solve very well. This problem could or has led to crashes when you cannot apply the brakes at speed. It only happens when driving and the only way to stop it is for the vehicle to be pulled over to the side of the road and shut off and restarted. Please put out a recall for this so that way there are no crashes that can injury my family or others.

The brakes in our 2004 Nissan Titan failed while driving down the road, thankfully we were not going fast and were able to pull to the dirt on the side to stop. There was no warning. We had no deferred maintenance on the truck. Brakes were mechanically perfect. ( two mechanics verified this ) once we turned the truck off and back on the brakes worked again. Found a class action lawsuit in la for this exact issue. Contacted Nissan, they denied knowing anything about this issue. No help. Towed the truck to the dealership, they denied knowing anything about this chronic problem. Turns out its a delta stroke sensor part of the abs system. Nhtsa you need to order a recall, this is a public safely issue. There is no warning before failure. Please protect the public get these trucks off the road and fixed before one of them plows into your family. So saddened by Nissan, never again will I trust this company.
The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Titan. While driving 30 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to stop the vehicle. The brake warning indicator was illuminated on the instrument panel. The failure occurred once. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 9,700.
I backed my car out of the driveway and proceeded approximately 100 yards toward the entrance to my subdivision. I applied brakes to stop. The brake pedal pulsed as if abs was active and went nearly to the floor. The road was dry yet the abs acted as if I were on ice. I pumped the brakes multiple times. Each time the pedal went to the floor with abs pulsing. I was able to pull to the side of the road and stop before entering the intersection. A warning light was illuminated - I don't remember if it was brake or abs. I placed the vehicle in park and turned it off. Upon restart there were no warning lights and the brakes functioned normally. I parked the vehicle pending diagnosis. There are numerous issues documented online pointing to the delta stroke sensor. It seems that a problem with this sensor compromises the function of the entire brake system.
Brakes made a grinding noise when applied and didn't slow vehicle when applied. Turned off vehicle. Restarted and brakes worked fine again. This happened a few times before dealer said it was a c1179 delta boost sensor fault and they replaced the brake booster. Happened again two years later same problem. This time dealer said the rear axle seal was leaking and leaking on brakes also found that the ecm on the booster that was replaced 2 years ago was never updated. Reprogrammed. Problem reoccurred a week later. This has occurred on the highway, side streets, going straight, turning, driving at 60, driving at 10. No rhyme or reason.
Traveling at 10 mph the vehicle went dead. No brakes, steering. Luckily I was able to run it along a curb to stop it. Due to a crack in the exhaust manifold both O2 sensors had to be replaced as well as the mass air sensor. Running up a bill of $ 1700. 00. All due to manufactures poor assembly.

The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Titan. He stated that while driving 45 mph he crashed into two vehicles. The contact attempted to engage the brake pedal; however, the brakes failed and caused a front end collision. The air bags did not deploy and the seat belts did not latch. 2004 Nissan Titan brake failure. Power booster sensor is going out and causes mushy and violant brake pedal -- unable to stop safely. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. Dealer flashed the brake computer. . . It did not work. Said that the power boaster needs to be replaced at a cost of $900 plus. . . I think it should be recalled. Xtreme safety issue. There seems to be a TSB out on it. . But no recall. Need a recall. . . People could be killed.
This seems to be an issue for a lot of people so I'm officially reporting. I've owned this car for 16 years. In that time, I've repeatedly had issues with the braking system at different times starting in 2006, but definitely in 2009. I've brought it up with dealers in both saco, me & wake forest, nc. Each time they cannot find a problem. Finally after the last time the dealer said there was a bulletin about the computer needing an update. Which cost multiple hundreds to install. This install definitely decreased the incidents of multiple brake failings while driving, but didn't completely fix the problem. I'm just now learning that it's a faulty delta stroke sensor in the brake booster and is a known problem to Nissan for the Titan and armada models. I never got the postcard about the class action lawsuit, but it wouldn't have helped since they never identified the issue or maybe even hid it from me during my visits. Because of this I'm out of the window for the lawsuit and am still having problems. My '04 still only has 78,000 miles and multiple other people are having this same issue. Nissan just had to pay 25 million to a family that was hit by one of these affected vehicles, but still will not claim there is an issue with the delta sensor and brake booster. Please make them fix this issue to save lives and pay for something they know has been an issue for a very long time. The booster can be reset and the problem goes away, but to do this you have to stop the car with the brakes fluttering and not responding. Then you shut off the car for 10 seconds and restart the car. This usually fixes the issue, but it can return at any time. Usually when you've already been driving for awhile. Started back in 2006, but got worse in 2009. Computer fix lessened issue, but still occurs at random times.
2004 Nissan Titan - repeated problems with front brakes. Rotors, calipers replaced or resurfaced 5 times. Abs wheel sensors. Currently no emergency brake - Nissan states no adjustments to fix - on occassion front brakes fail to the point the truck will not stop. This happens with out warning. When it happens the brake peddle goes to the floor and you can hear and feel the front brakes vibrating. I have to turn off the truck, wait a few minutes and it will then work fine. There is no warning when this occurs. Brake issues has been a major issue with the truck since the day I purchased.
Abs system went out on front tires. Bad sensors replaced.

Started noticing a whining from the rear end, soon my "slip and abs" lights were lighting on the dash. Dealer told me it was only a sensor and replaced my complete rear end (for a sensor?).
