Anti-theft Controller Problems of Oldsmobile Intrigue

Ever since 2010, I have been dealing with a serious gm passlock anti-theft system issue. It began with my vehicle not starting one day. It had power; all of the dash lights worked, radio, etc. . . , but it would not start. At first, I had no idea what to do, but I would always somehow get it to start after a lot of punching of the dashboard and shifting my gears rapidly over and over again. The problem slowly started occurring more frequently and I began to do some research on it and figured out that it was indeed an passlock system malfunction after confirming that my security light would blink when the vehicle would not start. I could get it to start after waiting 10 minutes with the key in the on position, when the security light would stop blinking after that 10 mins, I would turn it back to the off position and then back to the on position and it would start up, resetting the passlock system. Eventually, in 2012, the problem was occurring usually every 3rd attempt at starting up, and the passlock system reset trick would not work 9/10 times, it would sometimes take hours for me to get it to start. In November of 2012, I was driving on the highway and my car slowly starting shutting down, all warning lights flashing, and all the interior lights dimmed down to nothing, luckily I was able to pull over unharmed (also about 2 weeks before this, my driver's side turn signal relay system completely blew/failed). I found out that my alternator was completely drained and dead, so I replaced it. This fixed the problem for about 2 months, and then it started occurring again every now and then and has been occurring intermittently ever since; the passlock reset is currently working. Considering that the alternator was only a temporary fix, this is obviously a malfunction of the gm passlock system. This is very dangerous and has caused harm to my life (eg. School & job effected).

Passlock problem, the car will not start. I wait 15 minutes and it starts. This is a random event and has happened 5 times over the last 3 years.

1998 olds Intrigue. Sometimes when I'm driving the whole dashboard lights up and the car shuts down. Why?? also, sometimes the car won't even start, the security light comes on, and may not start for ten minutes, or 24 hours. . . I have a new transmission, I have had the car scanned, but no codes come up. I have changed the battery, the alternator has been checked, and recently had the key switch changed. The very next day it happened again!!! I was driving and out of nowhere, all of my dash lights come on, and the car just shuts down. The passlock security light comes on and stays on, disabling the car's ability to start. Gm has said there's nothing they can do about it, but I've seen hundreds of complaints over the internet of owners with the same problem. Just the fact that it may come on while I'm driving is a serious hazard in itself.

Oldsmobile Intrigue 1999 randomly the security light will come on and sometimes the car will not start for exactly 10 minutes. It has become very annoying because it has caused me to be late for several engagements. I have taken the car to the local gm dealer multiple times while under warranty and each time they claim they replaced the "broken part", but still after a couple of months it comes back and once again it won't start.

98 olds Intrigue security light comes on intermittently with no provocation. Often the car decides not to start and I am left stranded for up to half an hour while the security system resets.

Passlock (anti theft device) locks up and you can't start your car.

The car will not crank the starter at times (about 3 times a week). Sometimes it takes two tries, sometimes it takes 35 tries, it will not crank over. All of the electrical items work fine, but the engine will not crank over. When it eventualy does the car starts fine and runs fine.

The vehicle anti-theft system was on. The consumer could not start the vehicle. The dealership repaired the problem once, but did not resolve the problem. This was an intermittent problem.
