Takata recall- while the car is in motion it will simply stop, nothing will work. It must be restarted to resume and continue. It may not drive for long though. It does not happen all the time but it seems that this is very dangerous . At times the power will shut off momentarily but the car will continue driving. The lights will dim while driving, also. On one occasion the car would not start until the third crank of the key. This has happened on busy streets with my new 17 year old driver at the wheel. I will be calling a dealer soon. They have to feel some responsibility. I pray no one gets hurt due to this issue.

I'd been noticing that my car would quit at random times a little over a year ago, at first once every month or three, then gradually worked up to maybe once or twice a week. When I received the recall notice and took my key off my key ring. I had no further quitting incidents until I took my car in to the dealer October 31st. They did their thing with my key, and my car quit ten minutes later, on the way to an urgent appointment. I got it started again, then it quit again a couple of blocks down the road. I finally made it to my appointment, 5 minutes late. I put aside the "new" key, used a spare from then on, and the car seemed fine over the weekend. But on Monday morning I drove to the gym to work out, and the car would not start when I finished my workout and I walked the rest of the way to work. It started fine that evening, then again this morning, but conked out half way to work again. I got it started again before it coasted to a stop, but this is getting ridiculous. I think the recall is a failure, and gm needs to do something much more than replacing the key head for it to be effective. If I wasn't a strong man, I could have had many serious accidents by now.

2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue. Consumer seeks reimbursement for ignition switch recall notice repairs. The vehicle would not start the brake and security lights were on.
Ignition cylinder has failed and pass key is part of failure. Occasionally my car won't start because of this; mechanic says he has to replace the ignition cylinder and get me two new keys and recode them to the car. This will cost about $700-800. The car wouldn't start 5 times already and mechanic says its will only get worse til finally it doesn't work.

Passlock problem, the car will not start. I wait 15 minutes and it starts. This is a random event and has happened 5 times over the last 3 years.
I drive an Oldsmobile Intrigue 2002 with the passlock security system. It flashes while driving over the last week or so and today it left me and my daughter stranded. The car would not start. When I came back to the car later it did start. I found many web posts about this problem and apparently dealers can only replace the ignition switch to make this better.
The car would not start. After several attempts the security light came on indicating a problem with the passlock system. I kept trying and the car finally started. I brought the car to a mechanic who told me the ignition switch needed to be replaced. I was told this was a very common problem with gms and gm knows about it. The switch was $185. 00 and with labor the bill came to $350. 00. The Oldsmobile dealer said this was such a common problem with these cars that they keep many switches in stock.
Consumer stated passenger's lock key malfunctioned. As result, the vehicle will not start. . . . Passenger's lock key intermittently does not allow the vehicle to start, resulting in a 10 second delay until computer resets itself.
My 1998 olds Intrigue failed to start one time, then two times after that it stopped running without warning, within 3 miles of my house. It would then fail to restart for 30 minutes or more, as others have reported. After taking to be repaired twice, they were unable to repeat the problem. Looking over the engine, I noticed the wire running from the from the top of the engine was out of one of its holders. I replaced that and also cleaned battery contact. This problem has not happened again in the 2,000 miles since then.
