The contact owned a 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager. The contact stated that the driver inserted the key into the ignition and turned it into the accessory position when the air bags deployed. The driver sustained injuries to the arms, chest and wrist. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that there was water intrusion, which could have caused the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and determined that it was not mechanical. The insurance company decided that the failure was mechanical, and classified the vehicle as being destroyed. The approximate failure mileage was 63,800.

My husband was driving our van, and he got into a fender bender and was only going 4 to 5 mph, and he lightly hit a pole due to sun glare, and it did not make a impact at all , and both air bags popped out, and I was injury badly. The dashboard that was covering the airbag flew off, and cut my head open, and the bag fractured my nose, and my whole top part of my body is sore and bruised. The air bags went off 30 seconds after the accident, and was very late. I could have been killed. My husband is bruised and very sore from the bag hitting him on the chest.

Chrysler designed the power distribution block cover to hold water and retain moisture. This causes the connections to corrode and fail leading to failure of critical, electrically-operated, safety systems including the airbag safety restraint system and the anti-lock braking system. Chrysler has been aware of the error and redesigned the power distribution box. However, they did not recall and offer to replace the failed component.
The vehicle ran off the road while driving 35-45 mph into a fence and then into a wooden pole and neither frontal air bag deployed. The consumer received a head injury with 6 staples and other small cut to the head and face. Consumer also cut right hand in the accident.

1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager - clockspring here has been a recall on all models from 1996 - 1998 for this problem. Am experiencing the same problem in my 1999 voyager.
Consumer had already fixed the recall #02-v-293-000 and sent the documentation to the manufacturer and had been waiting for reimbursement since January.
The steering wheel clock spring failed, which caused my airbag, horn, and cruise control to become inoperative. This is a known problem and a recall has been issued. However, my VIN number was not on the list to receive the free replacement. The dealer wants me to pay $300 to fix a known safety defect.
Consumer states horn, cruise control and air bag are inoperative. Vehicle checked by dlr who determined a defective clock spring. Related recall ea01007/air bag clockspring. Mr.
Air bags deployed while driving approx. 10 - 15 mph when dip in road was driven over. No impact of any sort with anything was made. There was no damage to the vehicle, except the air bag deployment.
No deployment of the driver's air bag during accident. Nlm.
I have received a recall notice for a radiator fan relay, which is not mentioned on your site. Today, I found a new leak of transmission fluid, the red lights are again flashing on and off, there are power surges in the control panels, the engine chokes and shudders. Oh, and the a/c is out again. We won't even mention the windhield wipers which have continually gone on and off since we have owned this car, or the airbag alarms, or the incredible amount of money we have put into this maintained car. My 20,000 car has become a 40,000 lemon. There is simply no excuse for this, mileage or not. I have attempted to keep this car because I wanted a "safe" car for my teenagers to drive. Now, it appears I have them driving the pinto of the 1990's. I thought I was keeping my kids safe!! when the engine failed, I had the car taken to an non dealer becuase I am fed up with their attitudes. . . What do you expect at 100,000 miles, etc. When the first diagnostic was ran on the car, a bewildering array of codes came up. After changing the spark plugs, all of the codes dissapeared. However, the electrical problems increased in intensity, and now I'm afraid my daugher will go up in a fireball. I already assume there will be no response from the manufacturer. . . . I am going to consider a suit as I consider these cars dangerous! fuel leaks, static charge buildups? come on!.
During front end collision no deployment of driver and passenger air bags.
The vehicle clock spring failed prior to recall notification (recall # 02v-293000). The consumer requested reimbursement but has not received it yet.
False deployment of both passenger and driver air bags when driving over pot hole, injury to consumer (facial/head), when deployment occurred. Mjs.
The clock spring had become inoperative. The consumer requested a reimbursement of the monies spent on repair, because of a recall that was issued. Scc.
