Driving in the rain made the power steering belt come off. The result was I was unable to steer the van and had to sit on the side of the road. We had to get a shop to come and get the car and put the belt back on.

While driving in 4 inches or more of water the power steering intermittently fails. The belt can be heard slipping and then re-engages. The local dealership tightened the belt once but after the most recent incident they state nothing else can be done except for the dirver to "go slower". Also, rear brakes do the same.

Engine shuts down repeatedly when decelerating; loss of power steering, brakes; may or may not restart immediately. O2 sensor, battery, ignition cables, belt drive & tensioner, 60k service, 3 service visits: problem still occurs, but less often. Twice, nearly lost control as ps & pbs failed in a turn; engine shuts down particularly while decelerating or braking, as in turns and at traffic lights. Worse when ac was on. Sounds to me as if an ignition controller shuts down under low voltage ("brown-out") conditions.
