1 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager

Failure Date: 08/29/2003

Transmission apparantly failing to shift, seems stuck in 2nd as vehicle has no horsepower and will not accelerate over about 25-30mph (can't tell speed), will not shift gears (reverse still works). At the same time the speedometer stopped working and check engine light came on. No other apparant side effects (I. E. A/c still works, belts intact, fuses ok). Occurred while operating with passengers (age 5 and 5-mos. Old) - why would Chrysler corp. Allow such an apparant safety hazard to exist? this vehicle has been well-maintained and has just over 40,000-miles - is this all Chrysler products are good for? recall?.

3 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager

Failure Date: 06/15/2002

The power window on the drivers side just became sluggish and finally went down and wouldn't come back up, a bracket was broken, the entire assembly had to be replaced. The transmission would not go into gear during very cold weather and it was not a consistent problem to begin with. When you put the car in drive the engine would rev but it would not move forward. Then finally after warming up a few minutes it would lurch forward and be fine. Finally this past week it began making a grinding noise in reverse and refused to go in reverse. The car was put into drive and the grinding noise continued. Just fyi when I contacted Chrysler corporation about this problem, because I think a car should be able to make it to at least 100,000 miles before you start experiencing major problems, the customer assistance rep told me that I was unrealistic to expect my car to make it 100,000 miles. I find this amusing since this is the first car that I have owned that has had any major problems before 100,000 miles. My transmission mechanic also told me that he can only guarantee my repairs for 90 days because there are so many problems with the transmissions in these vehicles.

4 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager

Failure Date: 05/30/2002

Originally noted the reverse gear had a delay when purchased new, but was told it was normal. While driving home from airport car slowed and appeared to lack power (clutch slippage), 2 miles later upon deceleration and accecleration heard a grinding sound and noted a sluggish forward motion. Made it back to home and shut car down (nite time). Restarted car in morning and noted that car would not back out of garage, also tried putting car in nuetral, but care would not move (appears to be stuck in a gear). Vehicle currently unmovable. Contacted manufacture and requested assistance with parts (I would pay for labor), but the reps (more than one) I talked with said that they decline to provide any assistance. They also told me that their word was final and that it would be useless to ask to talk to anyone else. Since I am in the military they refered me to military sales and service (they said that I might try arbritration). Whatever happened to good faith and loyalty to customers.
