The consumer stated that the windshield wipers worked intermittently, and sometimes would not shut off. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, and was told that the problem was due to the power distribution center of the vehicle which was malfunctioning. To repair vehicle would cost approximately $700. 00. The wiper problem would occur at startup, while turning and or while in motion. The transmission would become a problem as well.
Started when I would take off in first gear, it would vibrate really hard, like a manual transmition does when it needs to down shift. Then I was almost in a collision, when I was stopped on the side of a hill, and went to pull over, and to my surprise I rolled backwards, as if in nutral. My trasmission was gone. After a very large tow bill, and 1500 rebuilt transmission, my dim lights only work when they want to, the passenger window is to the point where it almost wont go up. . . . . There's almost too much more to go on.

May 29, 2004 on a state highway and traveling at 55 mph when we felt a "thump" under our van. Upon pulling over, saw an oil slick left on road from vehicle. Transmission had a hole punched through from inside. Both Chrysler dealer and transmission supply said they see many like it every month, where a set pin lets go and a small shaft slips over far enough to contact transmission case and destroys it. Vehicle had 49564 miles on it at the time. Transmission replaced at a cost of $2004. 29. I have old case at home.

A bolt in the transmission of my 1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager came loose and shot through the transmission housing exiting under the vehicle. This became known when the repair facilities took the damaged equpment apart. It was reported by the facilities that this has been a common occurrence in this vehicleand that they had repaired five in our town alone in the past two years. Resulting in over $2000 in repair costs.
While shifting from park to drive vehicle did not move. Consumer had vehicle parked for two months, and stated that the vehicle would be towed in the near future to the dealer for analysis.
Consumer stated that vehicle can be put in any gear without stepping on the brakes first. Toddler was able to put the vehicle in gear while standing on the seat. Consumer called Chrysler, and was told that this was a special feature of this particular vehicle has, and it will not be changed or recalled.
While driving at 45 mph consumer heard a grinding noise coming from the vehicle. A few seconds later, vehicle stalled in the middle of the road. Vehicle was towed to the dealer, who informed the consumer that a rod was blown.
10/30/03 knocking noise coming from engine. Took to firestone in December after it got extremely loud. Was informed to go to dealer as they could not find the issue. 12/10/03 Chrysler replaced flywheel. Was informed that the delay in repairs was because 2 other replacement flywheels had cracked in the same fashon. I found no recalls for this issue. I do not have the old flywheel nor did I see the damaged one.
Failure of the transmission.
My wife was driving our kids on the highway at 65 mph when the van suddenly shifted into second gear. This nearly caused a huge accident. I then find that the transmission needed replacement. I researched this problem and found that this is not a unique problem by any means. Chrysler is aware of this problem, and has not made any significant changes to their transmission. This "safe mode" where the transmission goes to second gear is made to allow the driver to drive to a safe place. If Chrysler can't make a more durable transmission, they should be able to at least make the "safe mode" go to nuetral instead of second gear at high speeds. On a more sad note, $2,400. 00 later for a rebuilt transmission(the best price I could find), I found out the the van isn't worth much more than that anyway. Too bad, because I actually like the van and how it works for our family. I will have to go to another brand after this one completely dies.
I bought a 1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager. I have noticed the shifter to put it in gear does not lock, meaning the brake does not have to be pressed before shifting into gear. We found out after our 4 year old accidentally bumped the shifter sending it into drive with our 2 year old in the back seat I was able to jump in and stop the van before it hit another car. I checked several other vehicles and found that the brake actually has to be pressed before you can move the shifter. Is this a recall with my van? it doesn't seem normal. I need some advice.
Auto transmission shutters we shifting from 1 to 2 and 2 to third gear.
While driving the transmission "fell apart" without warning and caused loss of front wheel drive. A broken transmission pin caused this problem. The technicians said that this is design flaw and Chrysler was aware. Scc.
On February 7 2003 my wife drove my 1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager home just down the street and heard a bang under the floor board drivers side. The long and short of it is that our transmission had a catastrophic failure. Needless to say it cost us as much as we have paid for the vehicle since we acquired it from a very reputable car company.
While driving on the highway at 45 mph vehicle's transmission blew. Dealer notified. Please provide additional information. Ts.
While driving our 2003 Plymouth Grand Voyager (with 72000 miles) we heard a loud bang from under the front of the car. Transmission fluid was found under the car. We had the car towed to the dealership and learned the transmission pin had broken. We were informed this is a common problem, more than 30 remanufactured transmissions are on back order. The cost of the reparis is significant and we cannot be guaranteed when the parts wil become available. I called Chrysler/Plymouth to determine if there was a recall and there is not. In their opinion, it is not a significant issue. How do we, as consumers, make this issue known to ensure a recall notice is issued and the proper repairs are made? god forbid this problem occurred on a busy highway!.
Consumer states vehicle's transmission blew up while driving without warning. Dealer notified. Please provide additional information. Ts.
Driving on highway, my check engine light went on. Then van could not go faster than 35 mph. I would hear straining on the engine and the rpm gauge would show a higher rpm rate for the low speed I was travelling. The transmission needed to be replaced.
Speed control device quit working at exactly the same time the transmission would not come out of first gear regardless of the speed. This is a problem with Chrysler products and I expect them to do something about it ASAP!!! mr.
My daughters (ages 5 and 2) were sitting in the front seat of my van and hit the gear shift and knocked it into gear and the van rolled into my brother-in laws truck almost pinning me between the two vehicles.
In July 2002 the vehicle was running and a child was able to put the vehicle into drive without the brake pedal being applied. The vehicle crashed into a neighbor's garage. Also in April 2003 the vehicle was off and the owner was able to shift the vehicle into drive.
When driving at low speed vehicle jumps and hesitates. Dealer stated transmission needed to be replaced.
Transmission would not shift into higher gear. Dealer notified and made repairs. The consumer states the 1st time they had replaced the amj 6443 and the 4800878 trans input sensor. This did not take care of the problem and the mechanic suggested the fuel pump was defective and should be replaced.
Transmission made a loud bang and then the car would not accellerate, and the transmission dumped all the oil on the road.
No summary listed for above vehicle.
We had the transmission rebuilt at 62,000 mile - broke again at 47,000 miles later.
While driving, vehicle stalled without warning. Could not restart vehicle. Took to dealer and dealer indicated transmission case was cracked and pieces inside were broke. Nlm.

98 Plymouth Grand Voyager - 70k miles was informed by a Chrysler service center that I needed a new transmission. 96 Plymouth Grand Voyager wipers activate on there own occassionally - airbag light comes on and stays on occassionally.
When at the shopping center parking lot traveling at 5 mph transmission went out, and wheels locked up. Contacted dealer, and dealer was not willing to do assist.
While driving at 50 mph vehicle died. Consumer was able to start vehicle again and drive it in lowest gear. There was no reverse or over gears. Consumer took vehicle to a mechanic, and they stated that transmission had been replaced before. Please provide any further information.
Consumer was traveling on highway and vehicle started roaring, vehicle wasn't shifting. Dealership was aware of problem. Shift sensor and input speed center were replaced.
