1 Radiator problem of the 2000 Plymouth Neon

Failure Date: 06/22/2005

My 2000 Plymouth Neon lx lost power at an intersection, I had it towed, found out that a hose (that I believe either connected the radiator and the transmission or was for the radiator only, not sure, wasn't explained very well to me) had fallen out for no apparent reason, causing all of the fluid to leak out. When taken to a dealership, I had to have the radiator replaced, luckily my transmission was ok. About one minute before it happened, I noticed the car was shifting hard, and seemed like it was trying to shift while I was stopped at the intersection. By the time the light turned, most of whatever fluid was already gone.

3 Radiator problem of the 1998 Plymouth Neon

Failure Date: 11/01/2002

Was driving my 3 grand children when the temperature bell rang. I glanced at my gauges and noticed a high temperature reading and immediately pulled off to the side of the road and turned off the engine. After waiting 30 minutes or so I released the radiator cap and noticed what looked like oil in the water. I added water and then drove home at a slow rate of speed with the heater on. The temperature gauge did not go above low-med. I called my local garage and explained the problem and they suggested I have the vehicle towed to them. This I did, and upon examination the concluded the head gasket had blown. This vehicle only had 87,000 miles on it at the time of the failure. Upon research I see that this is not a new problem or isolated problem for the '98 Neon. I will now contact the dealer any advise? has Chrysler stepped forward and dealt with this problem? dt.

7 Radiator problem of the 1996 Plymouth Neon

Failure Date: 12/04/2001

For the second time now my car has a leaky gasket (which has contributed to having to replace the radiator this time as well). I have heard endless stories of this happening to Neons-when will a recall be enforced? this is obviously not an isolated problem when it is common knowledge among mechanics and owners of Neons that this could happen.

8 Radiator problem of the 1998 Plymouth Neon

Failure Date: 08/13/2001

When brake is pushed the turn lights would light up and brake lights wouldn't brighten. This was (08/13/01). In 10/10/01 was able to drive forward in reverse and neutral, didn't have a reverse, transmission replaced. In 03/12/02, found oil in the antifreeze reserve and radiator, replaced engine due to head gasket problem. In 04/15/02, transmission doing the same thing back on 10/10/01 , transmission is replaced again. In 10/31/02, transmission replaced for the third time, due to shifting hard, and same problem as 10/10/01 and 04/18/02. Also, at the same time the speed sensor went out so there was no speedometer working. We also had to replace the rear main oil seal because it was leaking and replaced the oil sending unit. ***dims 11 ivoq entry posted after 121/12/02 cut-over to artemis--------769334.

9 Radiator problem of the 1997 Plymouth Neon

Failure Date: 01/10/2000

Oil light went on, put several quarts of oil in throughout week but dip stick always read empty, oil light stayed on, took to lube shop where they identified a blown head gasket. Took to authorized dealer/repair shop, where they at first would not cover under warranty, but after inspection they replaced the head gasket, as well as a broken cam valve, faulty thermostat, and some exhaust parts, all of which were defective/broken unbeknownst to me.
