S10 appropriate handling control re defective new Chrysler vehicle fwd to potus re how corporations are allowed to operate in the USA. Within a week of the consumers mother purchasing the vehicle, he heard an abnormal noise coming from the engine. The dealer told the consumers mother there was nothing wrong with the vehicle and that was just the way the vehicle sounded. The consumer stated the vehicle has 54,000 miles and with such low mileage, the vehicles engine rod is about to fail. The problem with the motor was that the oil pressure sender mounted on the rear of the motor leaked. The leak was normally small and only leaked when the vehicle was in motion. However, over time, the leaking caused excessive heat to the motor which caused wear and tear on the head gaskets, pistons and rods.

Defective head gasket on my 1999 Plymouth Neon. Also has affected other Chrysler models check TSB no. 09-05-98 for more details. Chrysler should have had a recall on these vehicles. It cost me $586. 00 to have it replaced through nearby Chrysler dealership. They said they have replaced quite a few of these. If so why in world have they not warned people of these vehicles that the problem could happen to them before it results in more costly repairs. A service bulletin should be sent to these owners stating that if they find any oil leaking problems it could be the result of a defective head gasket. Chrysler should be paying all or part of the repair costs for this defect.

Dealer noticed oil leak at last oil change. . . Assumed it would was head gasket as they are known to fail. Estimated cost to replace $1200 but dealer received "deal" from Chrysler so I only pay $485. If this is a known problem in nearly all Neons manufactured for this body style, why didn't Chrysler issue a recall?.
