My car is leaking water in to the trunk, spare tire well, under my back seat and the back floors. My mother had the same problem with her Neon. I just spoke to a woman who owns a Neon and she is having the same problem. There has to be a defect somewhere for this many people to have the same problem.

Every time it rains my spare tire well fills with water and the interior has puddles on the floor. My car smells like dirty socks and is growing mold. I am still looking for a solution.
The trunk seals leak. Excess water is collected in the spare wheel and surrounding carpet. The carpet begins to grow mold. This is a problem because a lot of people will not realize that there is mold growing in the spare tire section of their trunk. Mold can be toxic and even deadly. I have cleaned this area once, but now I will clean it again to try and kill of all of the mold.
I bought this 1997 Plymouth Neon on 8/19/2005 used with 66000 miles it seemed like a solid vehicle but in sept/oct we had quite a bit of rain and I noticed puddles in my back seat area on the floor both sides,I checked around the car for open windows ect. . . . . There was nothing I checked the trunk and it seemed damp but nothing as to make the rear floor wet like it was. I was just wondering if this is a common problem with this model?I know it is not a safety issue now but what if this was a problem to the previous owner and now with me it could turn into a safety problem if the floor was to get rusty and rot through someone could end up getting severely injured. If there is any info on this problem could you please let me know somehow thank you for your attention in this matter.

Water is coming in the trunk somehow seeping inside the spare tire area and leaking into the back of the car soaking the back floor boards. / strong gas smell in my car when operating - so bad that the windows have to cracked for fresh air - cannot find any leaks- my grandchildren are being transported in my car daily- was told that this does not sound like a defect and I will be responsible for any cost - problem since around November 2004 / brakes squeal everytime I brake -had new rotors and brake pads installed December 2003 - noise is so loud sometimes it is embarrassing.

Puddles of water in the rear passenger compartment after a rainfall. I have put November 5, 2004 but it has happened twice before.
While driving, doesn't matter what type of surface all the gauges on my 1996 Neon failed. Sometimes if you tap the dashboard glass that covers the gauges they come back on or if you hit a bump in the road they come back on, but this isn't always the case. This has happened approximately 4-6 times over a six month period starting in may, 2004.

1. Every time it rains outside I have a lake on the inside of the car, mainly on the passenger side in the back and in the trunk which is molding the carpet and items kept inside. 2. The back up light on the driver side doesn't work properly, due to the moisture. 3. The turn signal on the passenger side blinks really fast, and stays on on the inside of the car. 4. The turn signal on the driver side has to be manually turned off after turning left. 5. The steering wheel has locked on a steep turn resulting me going off road, luckily not hitting anyone. 6. Headlights are very poor at night. 7. Radio reception is getting worse. Stations that used to come in won't anymore. 8. Car shakes at different speeds and at a light. 9. There is glare on the windsheild from dash that causes poor visibility in the day time.
Head gasket failure, reverse lights go on and off sporadically, window seals and seals to the trunk are falling off, the trunk is taking in water which is draining into the vehicle's rear floor.
Broken tie rod ends both sides, transmission failure, head gasket failure, read door driver's side will not close at all, trunk will not unlock with key, brakes wear every 3 to 4 months, high rate of oil burn off. The car had less than 60,000 miles on it.
