The contact owns a 1993 Plymouth Voyager. The vehicle was included in the recall under NHTSA campaign id number: 96v099000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock). The vehicle was taken to the dealer for repairs where the technician advised the contact that in order to perform the recall repairs, the contact would have to have the abs hydraulic control unit replaced first. The technician stated the abs hydraulic control unit was not covered under the recall. The contact stated the recall summary indicated that the abs hydraulic control unit could experience wear as a result of the defective component. The contact stated that the repair should have been covered under the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 189,556.
The contact owns a 1999 Chrysler Voyager. While driving between 5-10 mph, the vehicle would not stop. The failure has been occurring everyday since the vehicle was purchased. The brakes have been inspected each year. The contact stated that the brakes are not grabbing. The current mileage was 204,000 and failure mileage was 28.

The transmission goes into gear without depressing the brake. The guide plates had damaging spots. The brakes had excessive clearance and damaged the trailing edge. The vehicle would be in operation at a stop on a slight incline, the gear was in drive, with the foot removed from the brake and the vehicle would roll backwards; (the same for reverse), the lens covers on the vehicle have yellowed and or had become opaque. The contact complained about brake problems. There have been three accidents as a result of the brakes not completely stopping the vehicle. When applying the brakes the vehicle lurched forward. The vehicle has not been inspected to determine the cause of the brake problems.
When brakes inspected because of noise, brakes were found to be found excessively worn; a few thousand miles after last inspection.

It has been noticed that the brakes (the whole system) have to be replaced every three months. The last time the brakes had to be replaced was on 4/28/2003.
Consumer states of having problems with air bag light on and the horn and the cruise control don't work. Dealer was not contacted. Ts.
