Had pps recall repair done and later issue returned. Air bag sensor light stays on.
My air bag for pasenger side is on -I had it checked and it's a sensor- which is very dangerous-please solve this problem-ithank you.
Faulty airbag sensor, will not pass va state safety inspection. I have gotten numerous tickets due to this issue. Need a recall today!!!!!! this is just ridiculous.
The passenger air bag sensor has been intermittent for the last year and on a recent trip failed to function during actual driving, disabling the air bag, turned on the "service airbag" display and light and would not clear. This occurred several times and then became permanent. The seat was occupied and it was a intermittent failure that became permanent. Since the fairlure occurred while away from home and on the weekend, took the vehicle to a shop who read the code (b0081) tried to further diagnose the failure and then indicated the most probable cause was the ppu unit (whatever that is) there were none available locally so drove the car home (columbus OH to dallas, TX) and parked it being careful with my driving as my wife was in the passenger seat. Doing internet searches indicated that this is a common problem with the car and gm has refused to acknowledge it because the car is no longer in production even though the problem existed during the actual production cycle. Why does g?m not recall the car with an obvious safety defect that can affect lives??.
The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Sky. While the vehicle was stationary, the passenger air bag sensor remained illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 55,000.
The issue is the airbag control system. The sensor for the passenger seat is faulty and will prevent the airbag from being deployed. Gm acknowledges this problem, but says parts are not available. However they are readily available from many sources including ebay so their claim is without merit! I can not safely drive this vehicle knowing my passenger's safety is compromised. Please compel gm to fix this problem now. Parts are available!!!!.
I get a "service air bag" message when I start the car. This was previously repaired in 2011 after I got the same message at that time. This is a problem with the passenger air bag and it has been diagnosed as the air bag sensor module needs to be replaced. I understand from web searches that this problem is occurring often for this model of the Saturn Sky.
Passabger airbag sensor stopped working after a friend weight 185 sat in the seat at 64k miles.
Typical engineered problems @ low mileage: seat air bag sensor, dash info lights, check engine light and extremely noisy ac system. A recall would be nice, but the car is an orphan. (a discontinued vehicle, with little support. ) safe at any speed ?.
The passenger presence sensor has failed in my vehicle. Any passenger in the car faces added risk if an accident were to occur. It is prohibitively costly (my estimate from the dealership is $800) to do this repair. Given the frequency of this identical failure across this vehicle platform, I find it to be a manufacturer's defect and request their assistance.
Passenger seat occupancy sensor failed. It is a known issue with these cars and gm has done nothing about it.
Passenger seat airbag sensor failed. Vehicle was stationary. Warning on dash.
As with every other Saturn Sky out there the passenger seat airbag sensor has failed. As everyone else has said , you guys are full of it ,you will wait until people die with this issue. It is a safety problem step up and recall it.
Air bag passenger present module in passenger seat has failed giving an error code. This is a known problem on Saturn Skys as the forums have several reports of similar failures. I see that BMW has just issued a recall for these sensors. The Saturn Sky and pontiac solstice should also be recalled.
Airbag sensor has failed for second time in two years.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Saturn Sky. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle the air bag sensor light had illuminanted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who indicated that the passenger seat sensor was faulty. The seat cushion was replaced and the failure was remedied. The contact indicated that approximately 12,000 miles later the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 33,000. Jft.
Dashboard message center indicating a "service air bag" message when car is started. Receive the message every time key is turned on. . . I understand from other owners of the Saturn Sky this is a common issue related to the passenger side seat sensor. Gm will not cover the cost to replace the sensor, even though it is a part of the vehicle safety system. The failure of this component should not be considered a normal "wear and tear" component and/or a periodic maintenance issue. Gm has issued recalls on other gm models with the same or similar issues, so why not the Saturn Sky. It seems gm needs government intervention and/or lawsuits, before it will take action. As a Sky owner I should not have to be concerned whether or not my air bag will deploy, due to a defect in a safety system. A car owner¿s expectation is the air bag system will function properly for the life of the vehicle, just like the expectation the seat belt will function properly during the life of the vehicle.
2007 Saturn Sky recently, a light came on the dashboard which read "service air bag. " the consumer was informed by a reputable auto garage shop, the vehicle needed a sensor which activated the air bag, at a cost of $800 plus, and after the repair was completed, he would need to take the vehicle to the dealer to be reprogrammed at an additional cost of approximately $125. 00. The consumer went to the dealer, and was informed the sensor would cost $ 1,692. 00. The consumer declined the repairs. The consumer went online and discovered, the 2009 model was recalled for the same issue.
Passenger presence system (pps) sensor failed.
The airbag detection system, which are housed in seat sensors in the passenger front seat have failed.
My airbag sensor quit working. At this low mileage there should not be an issue. Now my car is out of warranty and I'm forced to pay to have it fixed out of pocket. From my research this appears to be a common issue. I encourage the NHTSA to investigate the issue and have gm recall vehicles with a similar issue. It is for the safety of the public.
Air bag seat sensor failure will not pass safety inspection in my state. Va.
I have had 2 Saturn Sky's, both have randomly disabled their airbags while driving due to a faulty sensor in the passenger seat. When I went online I found this is a common problem and even read news broadcasts about this specific sensor failing. The following website is one of those stories. My dealership has stated that it is not a recall matter. . Read more...
Sensor in passenger seat.
The passenger airbag sensor came on. This should be part of the gm recall before somebody gets hurt or killed.
Service air bag warning is activated due to a defective sensor which results in air bag not functioning properly or being deployed in the event of an accident. This is an obvious safety concern that should be addressed by recall.
I went into a parking lot and over a speed bump with a passenger in the car. As soon as we went over the speed bump the light on my dash that shows an airbag being deployed lit up. Now the dealership says the passenger presence module for the passenger air bag is bad. Since this is a "Smart" airbag system the module has to be changed and calibrated at the dealer. This was one of a very few time I've had a passenger in my car and seems beyond comprehension that this sensor would break with such limited use and cost $1000 to replace. I have found through my research that many thousands of gm products are having very similar issues with very similar cost to repair. Sure seems like gm knows there is a problem but has found that it's more profitable to keep replacing them at the owners cost!.
I had my 2007 Saturn Sky inspected, and the check air bag sensor came on. The vehicle has 17, 000 miles and has never been wrecked. It lives in a garage.
The air bag seat sensor in my vehicle failed and any passenger in the car faces risk if an accident were to occur. It is my understanding that the owner's cost to fix this item is prohibitive ($700 - $1000), and that the early failure of this part is somewhat common for this vehicle. I think because of all the complaints about this it is a problem and may cause someone to get really hurt. Left defective could be really serious to a passenger.
The air bag seat sensor (pps) in my vehicle failed only 12 mos after its 'bumper-to-bumper' warranty expired. Any passenger in the car faces added risk if an accident were to occur. It is my understanding that the owner's cost to fix this item is prohibitive ($700 - $1000), and that the early failure of this part is somewhat common for this vehicle.
The passenger seat airbag sensor has failed in my car. This has resulted in a condition in which the passenger air bag is permanently disabled, a potential large safety hazard. After researching this issue, it appears as though this is a common problem among the Saturn Sky and pontiac solstice cars, and there is no outstanding recall to remedy this issue. There are many of these cars on the road today that are operating without a functional passenger air bag, putting passengers are significantly greater risk for injury in the event of a collision. Given the prevalence of this issue, its severity, and the cost to repair, I feel as though a safety recall is should be considered for these models.
The passenger air bag is not on. There seems to be a defective sensor problem in the seat. According to many posts on the internet, this a very prevalent problem with the Saturn Sky and the pontiac solstice. Why has there not been a manufacturer's recall for this problem? it certainly is a safety hazard to the passenger.
Passenger presence module-service air bag warning is activated and comes on periodically due to a defective sensor which results in air bag not functioning properly or being deployed in the event of an accident. This is an obvious safety concern that gm is aware of and has been recalled in other model cars except for the Saturn Sky and pontiac solstice. It is a major safety concern and one that should be addressed by recall.
The Saturn Sky was purchased with a failed sensor on the passenger side seat for the airbag. Upon research I discovered that this is a known issue with the Saturn Sky and pontiac solstice. It affects multiple years and gm has known about it since it started happening. Yet upon review there has not been a recall issued for this problem. This is clearly a safety issue in regards to the safety of the passenger in a two seat car. Gm is now issuing recalls for almost everything and I have read multiple reports to your organization in regards to the airbag sensor problem, but gm does nothing. When is this issue going to be taken seriously? I wish I had the statistics on how many have been injured or killed due to this failed sensor so I could include that.
Air bag sensor in passenger seat is defective. Light comes on, indicating sensor problem. This makes it impossible to pass safety inspections in the state of virginia. Looking at $800 to replace what appears to be a known problem in these cars.
