1 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2019

These cars have a problem with the passenger seat sensor, which turns on and off the passenger side airbag. While gm did issue a recall about a year ago, the parts used were a simple "band-aid" fix. My car was repaired a little over a year ago, and has done 5000 miles since, and the "repaired" part has failed again. Gm is refusing to fix this under recall and/or warranty and the cost to fix this is $1000! this is a safety issue, and it should be covered, or the recall should be active once again! absolutely ridiculous! this is a common problem with other Saturn Sky and pontiac solstice owners as well.

2 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2017

2007 Saturn Sky redline. Consumer writes in regards to passenger side airbag suppression system safety recall. The consumer stated the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time completing the recall repair.

3 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2016

My 2007 Saturn Sky with 81,000 miles on it displayed "service air bag", took it to gm dealer who diagnosed it as a passenger presence system (pps) fault and said the cost for repair would be $1000+. I paid them their diagnostic time ($105) and elected to repair myself. Removal of passenger seat bottom cover indicated a break in the flexible circuit pad which detects passenger presence. Cost for replacement seat cushion assembly (includes pps) from gm is over $400 but still cheaper than paying dealer for this work. This is discussed all over the internet and a common issue with the Sky & solstice and gm recalls have been made on other vehicles having similar issues (Cadillac cts) but gm refuses to issue a recall on the Sky or solstice. This is a very costly repair for such an important safety device with known flaws in it (plastic ribbon cables cannot withstand repeated force applications forever). I understand most people elect to just continue driving with this issue, due to the extremely high cost of repairs, which leaves an adult passenger unprotected during a crash with airbag deployment (pps deactivates passenger side airbag if child is present. Gm should be forced to issue a recall on this or provide extended warranty on this safety critical item.

4 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2016

Passenger sensing system for passenger side airbags shows pasgr presence module invalid data, gm dealer says they will replace only if I pay about $900. I investigated and found NHTSA action number dp16001 may 16 2016. I want to add my vehicle into this claim. This is a severe issue just because no one has been injured doesn't lessen the importance this could be handled by gm by volunteering to replace and repair when a vehicle comes to their service center for the defect.

5 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2016

I bought a Saturn Sky redline last year with 31000 miles. Shortly after buying it the "service passenger side air bag" light came on. I am now finding out that this a very common problem with the pontiac solstice and Saturn Sky models with low mileage. It is not covered under warranty and has no recalls issued. When this happens the airbag system in the car is rendered useless. Gm wants around $700 for labor and $300 for parts. This is a major safety issue that happens on almost all of these cars with very low mileage. Gm has issued recalls for Cadillac, Buick and other models of their cars but not the kappa vehicles. This is totally unacceptable and needs to be addressed. These vechicles have no working airbags! the consumer is expected to pay upwards of $1000 to get it fixed with parts that are going to fail again? I will not be buying another gm vehicle again unless they do the right thing. I don't have a working driver information center and have no odometer thanks to this problem.

6 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2015

Passenger side air bag seat sensor defective.

7 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2015

My passenger side airbag sensor is faulty. It then shuts down the entire airbag system. Once the passenger presence sensor fails, it stores a code in the srs module and lights up the ¿service air bag¿ light. The airbag on the passenger side becomes disabled once this light is illuminated. This can pose an increased risk of injury to the passenger in an accident. The same problem has occurred in other cars with the airbag sensor brand/type - including the Cadillac cts- these were recalled. Why has the Saturn not been recalled if it is the same part? please look into this issue before people get hurt or killed!.

8 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

The passenger presence module failed with less than 45000 miles on the vehicle. Passenger side air bag function is disabled. This is a high failure rate item on this vehicle and its sister vehicle the pontiac solstice. The vehicle is stored indoors and well maintained without abuse. The part is available for inspection upon request.

9 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2014

As so many other Sky and solstice owners have experienced the passenger seat airbag sensor has failed rendering the right side air bag inoperable. After some research this is apparently a defect going back to the time of manufacture. Very little use of my seat has made my car unsafe for passengers obviously from a defect. Gm has been of no help to resolve this safety issue other than a charge of a $1000. 00 to replace it. A recall is required here. This is no different from the ignition key issue.

10 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2012

The passenger presence sensor light has been on for awhile. It had been 'fixed' once before when the vehicle was under warranty. The exact same sensor went out several months after warranty expiration June 2012). Concerned because this faulty (disabled) sensor will not deploy passenger-side airbag in an accident.

11 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2012

The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Sky . The contact stated that the passenger side air bag light would illuminate whether the passenger seat was occupied or not. The dealer was contacted and stated to the contact that the sensor would have to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 7,025 and the current mileage was 7,420. The VIN was not available.

12 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2011

In March 2011 passenger side airbag sensor failed. Never in an accident. $700. 00 to replace. Now, March 2014: mileage 44,000. Again never in an accident. Airbag sensor and diagnostic module failure. It will be $821. 00 to replace.

13 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2010

Air bag sensor for passenger airbag is faulty after ~5k miles of someone sitting in the seat. Numerous other Saturn Sky owners, especially 2007 owners have this problem.
