The airbag light on the dashboard stays on and the information center states to service air bag. I researched this problem and found that it is a common occurrence in these vehicles. Something to do with the sensors in the passenger and drivers seat. This occurs whenever the ignition is on.

I have received the second letter in regards to the 17036 recall on the passenger airbag light not working. According to the website and the dealer a fix isn't available, but according to the letter and customer service at Saturn a temporary fix is. I have been getting the run around with Saturn they call the dealership and set me up with an appointment and when I went there the dealer had no available information for this recall. Called Saturn again today and got the same story she called the dealer and said they would call me right back after they order the part. The dealer did call me right back but said the part wasn't available yet for them to order and to wait until I get the final notice. I am tired of Saturn giving me the wrong information and being sent on a wild goose chase. My light isn't working at this time so I have no idea what impact that has on the airbag whether it would deploy or not if I needed it. I hope we never have to find this out the hard way.
Noticed in April 2017 that "service airbag" dash light has stayed on constantly. At the same time the "passenger air bag" indicator always displays"off". Thai is while a passenger is sitting in the seat. The car has 23,228 miles currently. I believe it is a safety issue. I'm worried that system may not work in a car crash.

My cars air bag light came on I took it to the dealer and it would not pass state inspection due to the passenger module sensor. I had to pay over 900 dollars to get it fixed. I have heard multiply people complaining about the same issue. Therefore I think there should be a recall. I did nothing to cause this failure to happen yet I am responsible to pay for it.
Service air bag light came on motion.
My vehilce has 39,00 miles on it. The service airbag light stays on. I contacted gm and they said no recalls at this time and to check back periodically. Therefore if we all have this problem then definitely there is a need for gm to check all of this out. And most of these vehicles has very low miles on them.
2007 Saturn Sky redline at about 20000 miles service airbag light came on while passenger seat was occupied driving on highway about 50mph. Light came on intermittently whether seat was occupied or not. Now seems to stay on continually.
The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Sky. After the vehicle was started, the passenger side air bag off warning indicator illuminated. The contact replaced the passenger side bottom cushion per the dealer's recommendation, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 74,000.
The airbag light came on in the car during a trip while driving on the highway. There is an internal fault in the passenger seat suppression module according to the local gm dealership. This results in no deployment of either of the airbags in the event of an accident/crash. This is a safety issue. The cost to replace this module is nearly $800.
The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Sky. While driving 55 mph, the passenger side air bag light remained illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 46,000.
Takata recall I started the 2008 Saturn Sky with someone seated in passenger seat ,air bag light said airbag was off for passenger side and service airbag light came on. Took to gm dealer and it was diagnosed as bad module and would cost $936. 62 to fix. I did have it fixed and paid the $936. 62 for safety sake. This issue really needs to be addressed and on recall before someone is killed.
Service air bag light is constantly illuminated. Car has 31500 miles on it.
The contact owns a 2008 Saturn Sky. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the passenger presence module sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.
The airbag light lit up, the dealer checked it out and said it was the passenger seat occupancy sensor. Said it was the same one that was recalled on Cadillac cts but was t recalled on the Saturn ! I also check with the Cadillac dealership that the car came from and they said the same thing! I looked online and found this to be a common complaint, sent an e-mail to gm and received no response! thanks for any help. Gary witt 859-749-5290.
As I was thedriving down the highway at 65 mph, the airbag light came on. The service airbag message came up and I noticed that the passenger airbag on/off light would alternate from on/off. The passenger was just sitting there in the seat properly. After I stopped another passenger got in and still stayed illuminated.
Service airbag light illuminated and took the vehicle to the dealer for repair. The assessment was that the passenger weight sensor had failed. The repair is to replace the entire seat at a cost of $948. The failure is to the sensor tape affixed to the bottom of the seat. It becomes brittle as it ages and cracks. That cause a fault to be sent to the sensor module. It cannot be repaired and the sensor is bonded to the seat bottom. There are no new parts being made since this vehicle went out of production in 2009. All sensor tapes are therefore old and prone to rapid cracking and failure. The Saturn Sky (and pontiac solstice - basically same vehicle) are full of horror stories about multiple failures of this part that renders the airbag inoperative. There new part continues to fail in most cases and must be replaced repeatedly even though it is the passenger seat sensor in a two seat sports car. That seat in most cases is rarely used. In my case the vehicle only has 19655 miles on it and has had a passenger in the seat on only about 20 occasions. There is only a limited warranty on the replacement and service techs state that it will fail again fairly quickly. This in not only expensive, it is dangerous. Most owners like me will likely forgo the repair and just drive it with the light on and the passenger airbag inoperative.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2008 Saturn Sky. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v061000 (air bags). The parts to do the repair were unavailable. In addition, the air bag passenger warning indicator illuminated. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
While driving on a trip up north, the air bag light came on and "service air bag" appeared in the driver information center. After taking into get fixed, the issue is a faulty sensor in the passenger seat, rendering the passenger airbag useless. After doing some research online, this is happening a lot with the Saturn Skys. It is very expensive to fix (around $1000) and very dangerous, and should be a recall.
A few days ago the pass air bag light came on even tho the pass seat was occupied.
Passenger air bag light on dash indicates problem with passenger sensor. I was driving with my grandson who weighs about 110 pounds and suddenly the light came on. This is alarming since I don't know if there was a collision, it would prevent the air bag from deploying and my passenger would not be protected. Upon searching the internet it is obvious that this is a common problem with the Saturn Sky and should be recalled since it impacts the safety of the occupants. The sensor is a think plastic circuit which is located under the seat covering and gets worn out. Totally unacceptable and seems that general motors would want to address this issue to prevent loss of life and potential law suits.
Passenger airbag does not respond to whether someone is sitting in the seat and the airbag light is on on dash.
Service air bag warning appears on dash with no passenger in the vehicle. The warning appears every time I start the car. When a passenger is in the vehicle the passenger air bag indicator always reads "off".
Passenger presence system has failed prematurely. Issue has caused air bag light to activate and has also caused airbags to be disabled.
Passenger airbag indicator light is on. Diagnostics indicate module must be replaced ($700. 00 to $1100. 00). Research indicates a replacement module may fail again.
Service air bag light is on when engine starts & won't turn off. Had replaced.
