1 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2009 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 12/27/2020

While I am driving I have had intermittent incidents that cannot be replicated. "stabilitrak" warning light has not turned off. I have lost control of my vehicle while driving twice but was able to pull over after a few seconds. The vehicle will lose power to the dash. When I am turning the steering wheel gets very hard to turn and will turn off the radio. This will cause the car to loose power while driving. Then when I turn the car off I will be unable to get the key out or turn the vehicle on. I will have to restart the vehicle. I have replaced the battery twice and the alternator twice and this helped for 2 months then the problem persisted. I also replaced the wheel sensors to no avail. I have taken to 3 mechanics but they cannot replicate the issue. When the vehicle is in park, I will try to turn the vehicle on and then just tap on the brain compartment above the battery and sometimes this works. I have been left stranded more than I care to admit. While driving if the issues are really bad and if I have to drive long distance I will try to use cruise controll but it will not engage.

2 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2008 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 10/27/2018

On Friday October 26, 2018, my battery died. I had it replaced after the tow company diagnosed it. It was later discovered that the alternator was malfunctiong. My car on a busy intersection just died with on coming heavy traffic. I could not move or put it in nuetural to move it. It had to be jumped in order to clear the dangerous situation. My concern that the car just locked up, no power or ability to move. I could not use my hazard lights. A very unsafe situation. The vehicle was in motion and then I was accelerating then all of a sudden everything went dark. Please advise of what type of documentation you will need for this file? I am just writing because this was a safety related malfunctioning that was life threatening.

3 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2007 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

I own a 07 Saturn Vue. I purchased it after seeing a friend with one and I loved it. I also have a friend in kansas with one. After replacing the alternator and the battery, next day I will still need a jump. If I go into the store, I will need a jump. My friend here, hers does it as well, and so did my friend in kansas. Took it to a gm dealer, they guaranteed all parts,,, after spending countless funds and times, I am still having the issue,,, a day after replacing everything brand new again. I've been star fed in the rain, snow, and all hours of the night with my kids due to this issue. My friend in kansas had the original factory alternator rebuilt,,, and hasn't had a issue since(2yrs), after dealing with it for 4 months. I'm out of funds and patience so now the car is just sitting. My friend here,,, after hundreds of dollars, finally sold hers to a scrap yard. I searched online(mystery behind dying battery in a 07 Saturn Vue) and to my amazement,,, there are hundreds of people with the exact same issue. Every time the battery dies, it affects something else as well. My radio has not come back on since, I replaced the radio,,, within a week that radio would not power on as well. The lights will flicker, and sometimes you can't even tell car is actually on because nothing in the car will power on,,, seems to mostly do it in cool weather. No matter where I went or how soon after replacing everything,,, the battery would die,,, I'm assuming it's something with the alternator at this point. My friend rebuilt his and hasn't had issues in 2yrs, I've replaced mine 3 times in the past month and I'm still having these issues. Please search it,,, I am not alone,,, there are others experiencing this and are blogging online about it.

4 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2009 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 04/01/2017

The first problem occurred about a year ago, when a message stating "stabilitrack off" appeared while driving on the interstate. I continued driving with the message and parked as normal. The next time I started the car the message was gone. Several months later I went to start the car and it was completely dead. Door locks, radio, everything was dead. We replaced the battery and thought the problem was fixed, but about two months later I went out in the morning to a dead car again. Jumping the car was an instant fix, and the vehicle ran fine again for about 3 weeks. This happened about once a month for the next 6 months, with the "stabilitrak off" message occasionally popping up while driving. Each time it would not start a jump was required, and then the car would drive fine. There was never any indication that the battery was low, and it never quit while actively being driven. Over the past month the problems have occurred more frequently, and now happen about 3-4 times per week. I have to keep a portable battery charger in my glovebox to jump it myself. We have replaced the battery twice and still have these issues. We took it to an independent mechanic who was unable to find the problem, though he assured us the battery, alternator, etc. Were fine. At this point we are looking to sell the vehicle, because my kids and I cannot keep being stranded when it won't start. I no longer feel it is a safe vehicle for them to be riding in. Unfortunately we will take a huge hit when we sell, as the car is obviously not worth what we paid for it since these problems were unknown then. It has 80,000 miles on it now, and these problems started at 75,000 miles.

5 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2007 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 11/06/2016

My key would not come out of ignition, had to drill out ignition cylinder and replace housing also. Had to get a mechanic to key the cylinder and now the lights, a/c, and radio do not work after engine starts until it runs for about 8 minutes. Then everything works, but the check engine light stays on, the engine runs good, until it sits parked overnight and have to do it again the next day. Also had to replace the alternator. Still doing the same. Had it parked for abot two months and just start it and run the engine to preseve the battery. Use other vehicle instead.

6 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2006 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 10/01/2015

When you try to start the car when it's cold, all of the interior and exterior lights come on, radio comes on, and then the lights and radio go off and the power steering stops working. After a few attempts and about 5 minutes pass, it works properly. Some times, unexpectedly, all the lights in the car start flashing, the locks on the doors lock and unlock repeatedly while driving. We've replaced the transmission, the ignition switch, the alternator, and have a brand new battery (2x in 6mo). This car is possessed! I worry for the safety of my teenage daughter while driving this car.

7 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2006 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 01/19/2015

On 1-19-2015 I started my car (after it had been sitting for 2 days/it was very cold) and the exterior lights, interior lights, dash board, radio, blinker signals, all began flashing. It would stop for a second and start again, during this time the car seemed like it was going to conk out, but didn't. This went on for about 5 minutes. When I pressed the gas pedal the flashing would go faster. Also the seat controls and door locks would not work. After about 5 minutes it stopped and the car was fine. That same thing has happened roughly 4-5 more times, lasting 5-10 minutes each time. The car has only stopped running 1 time (luckily in front of home) and started fine the next day. Took video and went to local mechanic. They checked the battery and alternator (both fine-no $ charge), also checked recalls for car (nothing). Told me to go to dealership or electrical mechanic. Thought perhaps the alarm system, due to flashing. After going online, I have found alot of people that have had the same problem and it is not cheap to fix. This vehicle needs to be recalled to have the problem fixed. I could cause a severe, deadly accident if this happened while driving, also the doors would be locked because they lose power.

9 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2009 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 07/01/2013

Approximately July 2013, my instrument panel lights and radio shut off. The service stabilitrak warning message came on and then went off. I was unable to take the key out of the ignition. After moving the battery, the lights turned on and I was able to start the car. This lasted for an hour. It happened again and moving the battery worked. I took it to lou fusz GMC Buick. They tested the alternator, battery, and all of their components. They were fine. I took it to them in August, September, and October. I thought the problem was caused by the battery not being secured or I needed a new battery. I had the battery replaced by lou fusz in January 2014. Everything seemed to be fine until earlier this month. The same symptoms and issues happened again. I currently have the vehicle at a gm service center hoping they can resolve the issue. There is something seriously wrong with this vehicle. I am afraid to drive it. My concern is it may be overheating causing the wires to burn. There are other reports of the same issue with the 2009 Saturn Vue. Please assist me in resolving this matter.

10 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2006 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 08/15/2012

I have had problems with the seat warmer on the dirvers side since we bought the car. The radio chages from radio to cd by it's self. I have had to replace the alternator twice since 2012. There is seriuos electrical problems with this vechicle & gm should fix them!.

11 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2003 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 06/22/2010

We were driving to work in our 2003 Saturn Vue 5 speed, going 60 mph on the freeway when all of a sudden the rpm's started to go up and down when we let off the gas and would stall when we would shift. We figured it out pretty fast and looked for an on ramp while we tried to "pigeon" foot the gas and brake to prevent a stall in the middle of the freeway, then power steering went out and the dashboard lost power, we knew that something was very very wrong and that if we didn't' get off the freeway, we could be in serious trouble if the engine lost power. We spotted an off ramp ahead and with no power steering and no dashboard lights we crossed 3 lanes of traffic, just as we hit the off ramp the car started to sputter (rpm's going up and down) even with our foot on the gas, we lost all power and the engine quit in the middle of an intersection and almost got hit by a truck coming down the hill. Luckily he swerved and missed another car coming the opposite direction. We pushed the car to an incline and rolled the car into a park and ride where my husband tried to figure out what was wrong. He figured it was the alternator so we had a friend pick one up for us and meet as the park and ride. He replaced the alternator and as usual for jump starting a car, we turned off all electrical draws (radio, a/c, fan ect. ) the car started up, the rpm's fluctuated briefly, then it was ok. 2 weeks later the exact same thing happened on a highway going 50 mph, luckily we were able to pull over and try to fix it again. Same thing, turned off all electrical, jumped the car and started right up. 3 weeks later the rpm's started fluctuating and we figured out we needed to pigeon the gas and brake so it wouldn't stall and limped it home. Saturn says it's the bcm computer and it's a "common" problem. We now have to pay $700 hundred dollars and find a way to get the Saturn to the dealership without wrecking.

12 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2007 Saturn VUE

The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Vue hybrid (na). While driving 30 mph, the electrical system failed. The radio, power assist, all of the lighting, and the windows shut down, including the engine. The failure occurred on three different occasions. The dealer inspected the vehicle three times; however, the failure still persists. The dealer attempted to follow the guidelines, but they were unsuccessful. General motors stated that all they could do was send information to the dealer to attempt to rectify the failure. The cause of the failure remains undetermined. The fuel system was unknown. The failure mileage was 22,000 and current mileage was 24,000.
