My door locks do not lock or unlock intermittently. It may be that the drivers door unlocks but none of the others and at times none but the rear hatch unlock and I have to crawl thru the SUV to get doors opened. When none of the door locks open, the key will not unlock the door either. Also, about 1/3 of the time when you use the clicker to lock the doors, the horn sounds indicating it locked but when I check, some or none locked. When I shift into gear from park or back to park, the locks do not engage or disengage or only some do. I took it to my mechanic because someone said it might be the lock actuators but he said that it couldn't be if they open the doors locked or unlocked the doors some of the time. He said he had also had customers that owned gm cars having the same problems and that there had been a recall of gm models to correct it. I just want to know my locks are working properly. I won't leave anything in the car when shopping or parked because I can't trust that the doors locked. If I felt unsafe for any reason going to my car, I don't know if I would be able to get in and I don't know when I come out, if someone is already in my car.

"takata recall". My mechanic found a faulty takata airbag while diagnosing a horn problem. My VIN is not on the airbag recall list or the ignition switch recall list. Also the faulty ignition switch is causing security system issues and causing my horn relay to stay permanently in the on position which is draining my battery to nothing. How do I get my VIN added to these lists so that these parts can be replaced under the recall?.

My horn started blowing early 1 morning and I had to disconnect my horn the switch went out the horn switch is in the air bag assembly. This was a common problem with the 2003 Saturn Vue.
The horn was sounding all the time was intermittent now on all the time , had to remove the fuse.
Went to use horn to warn another vehicle that they were swaying into my lane and when did so horn kept going off and would not disengage. Had to pull off road and was able to pull horn relay in order to get horn to stop before burning it out. Due to location of horn switch (inside airbag) the approximate cost for what would appear to be an easy fix could cost upwards of $700. Outrageous! now due to high cost vehicle will be without an important safety feature. . . . A horn. Recall should be issued.
The contact owns a 2003 Saturn Vue. The contact stated that there were multiple failures within the vehicle. The vehicle was hesitant to accelerate accompanied with a loud, humming noise. The horn sensor was melted, causing the horn to malfunction and sound continuously. The fuel tank was also fractured, causing a fuel leak and fumes to fill the vehicle cabin. The muffler was abnormally loud and the steering wheel would seize without warning and most frequently when attempting a left turn. In addition, the timing chain failed. The hazard light activation button also fractured therefore; the contact was unable to utilize the hazard lights. The dealer and manufacturer were contacted in regards to all of the failures experienced in the vehicle but neither provided any assistance to the contact. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 64,000.
For the last few years I have had issues with the power locks in my 2004 Saturn view where the unlock button did not work on random occasions. It then seemed that if it had rained this is when the problem would occur. It has since become a chronic issue making it impossible for me to use my door locks for unlocking whether with the remote or the button. This morning the locks unlocked themselvse and continued to attempt unlocking for the entire hour long drive at random intervals. I have had other electrical issues as well with this vehicle and have gotten no where with inquires to Saturn as to the issue. Since purchase the rear wiper works when it feels like it and a couple of months ago my horn began to blare while parked in the driveway all by itself. The remedy for the horn was to remove the relay as the mechanic I deal with did not have the code to determine the actual issue. I can only imagine the cost I will incur to rectify these issues, especially in light of the fact that Saturn no longer officially exists.
2003 Saturn Vue horn failure. I have talked with many other Saturn owners online in forums & chatrooms, that all have the same problem I have. The horn will begin to blow on it's own for no reason and eventually fail. I have contacted the local Saturn dealer and the cost of the repair is nearly $800-$900. I believe that lack of a horn is a safety issue and should be the manufacturers responsibility if it is a widespread problem with their vehicles.
The contact owns a 2004 Saturn Vue. The contact stated that the vehicle horn engaged without driver intent. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing and was informed that the horn module had failed and burned a hole through the safety air bag. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 48,000. Updated 06/25/10. Updated 09/07/jb.
The contact owns a 2003 Saturn Vue which was purchased in December 2002. She stated that there were numerous failures with the vehicle. While driving approximately 6 mph through a brush-less car wash, water entered into the sun roof housing. On a separate occasion, she also smelled oil burning and the dealer replaced the right inner cv joint boot. The hazards lights failed to operate normally and were repaired twice due to repeat failures. When she engaged the hazard switch, it collapsed into the dashboard console. The service engine soon light illuminated and the dealer stated that the thermostat failed and it was replaced. All repairs were made to the vehicle per the warranty. The rear lateral link assembly recall number 04067001 2002-2004 Vue rear suspension recall was also replaced. The driver's side window would not close; however, the driver's side switch was replaced. The fuel gauge indicated the improper level of fuel that was in the fuel tank; although, the fuel sending units were replaced. All of the repairs made to the vehicle have failed more than once. The horn would also operate intermittently on its own. The dealer found a shortage in the body control module and replaced the operating design system which forced the mechanic to reprogram the keys to the vehicle. The valve cover gasket failed a second time when the contact smelled oil burning. There were no related recalls for most of the other failed components. The failure mileage was 14,002 and the current mileage was 70,501.
On our 2003 Saturn Vue the locks kept unlocking and locking at random (whether the car was running or not), then it did not respond to the keyless entry. The horn kept going off randomly and could not be stopped. On 05/14/08 we took the vehicle in for diagnostics. We were told the bcm (body control module) needed to be replaced. We were told that a bad bcm could affect other components of the car. I feel that this could be dangerous especially while driving on the highway and the car suddenly stops. I looked the bcm for Saturn cars on the internet and there seemed to be several complaints about this being a recurring problem for Saturns. I don't understand why this part has not been recalled.
No known crashes or injuries. Horn on vehicle stuck in on position and can only be silenced by removing fuse. Defect is a poorly designed contact strip that is part of air bag assembly. Cost of repairs by Saturn is between $800 and $1,200 thus causing many owners to drive without a horn or properly functioning air bag.
Problem 1: my 2004 Saturn awd v6 Saturn Vue has developed a "shudder" in the drive train that's prevalent in the 20 -25 and 30-35mph range under moderate acceleration or coasting. Hooked up to a code reader, no codes appear; however, the torque converter is slipping as it displays a read out of over 8,000 rpm's when this occurs and the tachometer bounces back and forth with the shudder. Frequency of occurrence is higher in hotter weather and when car has been driven for several minutes. Slight whine also noticed by the transmission mechanic. Problem 2: this problem was noticed on 03-28-08. Vehicle was also purchased with defective horn. Two + weeks after the car was purchased I was hit in the rear quarter panel by a careless teenager that did not look before he backed out of his parking space. I realized shortly after that my horn was not properly working. There was no way I could have sounded the horn to alert him that he was about to back into me if had wanted to. Had it repaired recently in which the horn was found to be completely non-operational. Once repaired, it was apparent that all was working well with the horn as it honks when the doors are locked. We did not realize that the car would do that at the time that we purchased it. That should have been a big clue to the dealership that it was not functioning properly. I've been told that selling a car without a properly functioning horn is a safety violation. I'm appalled that this was not caught by the dealership! more over, they stuck me with an expensive bill to replace something that should have been operational at the time of sale! problem 3: repaired on 05-22-08. Also, both lower control arm bushings had to be replaced as they were found to have separated. Major front end noises heard prior to this getting fixed and slop in the front end when driving. Felt like car might loose control when cornering!.
I own a 2002 Saturn Vue, 4cylinder, fwd with approximately 86,000 miles. Early this year the body control module (bcm) on this vehicle began preventing the doors from unlocking properly. I first noticed the issue when my key fob for my security system began to fail to unlock doors, causing the horn to chirp irregularly. I later noticed that in certain situations, unlocking the doors using the power lock button on each of the front doors would not unlock the doors. When I went to manually push the lock, it sticks or does not disengage the lock, essentially locking all passengers in. After crawling to the back seat I am able to push the lock button manually and escape. My fear is that in an emergency, the body control module will somehow prevent me from getting out of my car.
The switch in the airbag module gets stuck and the horn blows continuously and when it wants to; it has failed for me at least 6 times in one day before burning out the horn. Then after a body control module was replaced (not needed) and the horn the following Tuesday the horn began to blow out of control again. I have had to disable the horn (a safety feature of a car) to keep from it blowing more.
My wife pulled up to a house that my daughter was visiting and honked the horn for her to come out. The horn continued to sound until the fuse was pulled. I have done research and it looks like this is a continuous problem.
The contact owns a 2004 Saturn Vue. On June 27, 2007, while driving approximately 60 to 70 mph, the gear cable failed. The contact called 911 and the dispatcher instructed her on how to stop the vehicle before a crash occurred. The vehicle has had many failures since it was purchased and was previously repaired under a recall for the suspension. One week ago, the horn sounded on its own at 2 am. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and they found a defect in the horn and air bags. The recall number was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 37,000.
The contact owns a 2003 Saturn Vue. While driving 35 mph, the power steering failed and the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle can be driven, but has not been diagnosed by the dealer. The contact stated the gauges did not function properly. The purchase date and correct VIN were unknown. The current and failure mileages were 27,000. Updated 02/01/08. The consumer stated a/c, horn, windshield wipers, internal lights, and odometer all were inoperable. The consumer stated austin Saturn tried to tighten the fuse block bolts, but it was actually worse afterwards. They replaced the bcm for half price. Updated 02/01/08.
Failed vti transmission. . Started on 12/03/03 with 9199 miles. Reduced power light, car would not go when placed in gear, fix-code p0107, map sensor low circuit voltage transmission control system on 6/28/04 with n14807 miles. Would not go in reverse, fix ed again. On 3/10/07 with 50107 miles stopped in heavy traffic then went. Intermitently shook in heavy traffic when at operating temperatures. As per Saturn not found. Also, air bag/horn issues, on 1/31/06 with 38441 miles air bag light was on. . Saturn alledged not found on 4/10/06, and on 41040 miles again air bag li, as per Saturn dtcb1800472,,dtcb1001, replaced modual assembly. Was charged $578. 40 . After that horn was going on own , assumed was part of alarm system . Horn burned out, and Saturn wanta about $1500 to repair when there iwas a an admitted design flaw. Alarm system was verified by outside source operational, not even sure if air bag will deploy in an accident.
It started with having strange clicking in the turn signals. Then the temp light would come on and the needle would bury itself into the red portion of the dial. We noticed no smell or problems with driving the car and the radiator and coolant resevior checked out to be fine. Next came the oil light on after we had already had the oil changed. Then the air bag light would stay on longer after starting the car. Then as suddenly as things started, everything went back to normal except the turn signals. A few weeks later it began. This time with the horn getting stuck, then the service light coming on and staying on along with the oil light. Then the airbag light started staying on longer and longer. By this time it is winter and I'm hearing strange sounds from the front of the car. One day we notice the horn is no longer working and the front end sound like it's going to fall off. We're afraid to use the heater defroster too much for fear the car may over heat. I take the vehicle in for oil change and diagnotic. It was not bought at a Saturn dealer. I am told that the housing for the oil filter is broken and needs replacing. I pay for half of that. I need new links in the front. The horn works. The temp gauge is going into the red. After I explained what was going on with the gauges. It was suggested I take it to a Saturn dealer. I went to my local Saturn dealer and they replaced the front links. They diagnosed the other problems airbag steer wheel contacts collapsed - $800. 00, shorted bcm- $449. 00, horn shorted- $101. 00, fuse blown-$23. 60, not including labor. Spoke with Saturn corp, they have agreed to pay $500. 00 toward repair of airbag as long as we go to the Saturn dealer. Presently we're seeking monetary assistance from the selling dealership which has moved over 50 miles away. This case is still pending.
Horn constantly on in the very early hours of the morning. Was told by Saturn dealer that this would cost over $700 because the entire air bag would need replacing! I needed to remove the fuse for the horn causing a safety issue for myself and family. This is a very large problem Saturn has with all of their vehicles and they refuse to recognize it.
Horn was always hard to honk. I honked the horn and it wouldn't stop. I had to remove the fuse to get it to stop. I took it to Saturn and they said it would cost $889 to fix. The horn and airbag are in the same module. I've seen too many complaints about this and I refuse to have to pay to fix a manufacturer defect.
Horn starts blowing when car is parked and off. This has happened 3 times. Dealer says defect in the horn module behind steering wheel air bag. Dealer says this is a common problem but will not fix as a recall. They want to charge me over $750 to fix. I declined.
When stopping the vehicle and sitting still for a few seconds, there is a loud thumping sound (occurring three or four times) from the rear of the vehicle (sounds similar to a loose fuel tank baffle). The dealer stated they weren't aware of any fix for this problem, though they tried a couple of ideas. While I've found this on several websites online, nobody seems to know the cause. Everyone seems to live with the problem. It's difficult to diagnose as it seems intermittant, but happens on average once per day. Being that this seems to be eminating from the fuel system, I think that Saturn should take this issue more seriously, and more than likely this is something they can correct by replacing the fuel tank, I feel that they just don't want that expense. Also, I would like to take the opportunity to complain about the horn switch, as it is extremely difficult to operate in a panic situation, which is what it is designed to be used in. Lastly, I beleive that NHTSA should investigate the awd system on these vehicles. I've done my own tests and I have to say I am surprised about how easily it is to loose control of the vehicle in light snow. When the rear comes on, if the engine is revving high, it can spin the vehicle around like a top.
The horn on my 2003 2wd Saturn Vue has malfunctioned and is non-operational. One day, while the car was parked and turned off, the horn activated by itself and would not shut off. The horn wound up dying completely and now the horn, relay, fuses, and wiring all need to be replaced. The horn activator is located inside the airbag unit inside the steering wheel unit. The horn activator is covered by a copper protective plate which deforms over time due to the driver having to press exetremely hard on the horn buttons to activate the horn. When the copper plate becomes deformed, the horn activates and is unable to be deactivated unless the main fuse for the horn is pulled. In my car, the fuse was not able to be located and pulled in time, leading to the unit failure. Now I have no horn and the dealership wants to charge $750 to replace the unit. From what I've read on Saturn forums on the web, this is a common problem for this make/model/year due to a design defect in the horn unit. Despite the fact that so many people have had this issue (some more than once), gm has refused to issue a recall.
Someone was preparing to cut me off, so I sounded the horn as a warning. The horn would not shut off. I pulled the fuse to quiet the horn. . Read more...
2003 Saturn Vue hood release cable and windshield wiper motor was replaced. The rear differential was replaced (warranty). While repairing the rear differential the technician noticed that the prompt shaft center bearing was broken (warranty). There was noise coming from the front end of the vehicle. The technician determined that the transaxle. The technician updated the tcm and added cvt additive (warranty). The check engine light illuminated on the dash. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who determined that the oxygen sensor was faulty (warranty). The air bag and horn were also replaced.
The horn in my 2003 Saturn Vue malfunctioned. When taken to the local Saturn dealer for repair, they replaced several components ($400) and ultimately told me they had to replace the computer module that governed the horn ($700). They also told me that this module governed the airbags. However, the airbag warning light was not lit because the computer module had failed. A horn part shorted out and resulted in my son driving a car with no airbags and no warning of that.
The contact owns a 2003 Saturn Vue. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. Additionally, smoke emitted from the center of the steering wheel where the horn was positioned. The contact also mentioned that the key released from the ignition while the engine was in operation. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The technician was unable to locate a problem. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 35,343.
The consumer stated that the horn went off on its own. The consumer had to disconnect the battery to stop the vehicle. The vehicle had not been taken to any mechanic for this problem. (11/23/05).
Upon pressing down fairly hard on my vehicle's horn it honked in a normal fashion and stopped upon when I removed my hand, but then it continued to honk on its own on an intermittent basis. At the same time, the service vehicle warning light went on. I was unable to stop this condition until the fuse was removed.
My fiance and I both purchased a 2002 Saturn Vue. During the course of normal driving she used her horn in alerting other drivers and the horn failed to stop sounding. The only remedy was to pull over and remove the fuse to stop the horn from sounding. This occurred three times during her ownership of the vehicle and each time the defective part was replaced the problem would return shortly after. After much inquiry we finally had a manager admit to us there was a product redesign to fix the problem with it shorting out which also affected the air bag functionality as well. Both safety issues. Now during the course of normal driving my vehicle, also a Saturn Vue of the same year, has suffered the same failure. Although this is my first such incident with the problem, I suspect this is not an isolated case. I was told that the part would cost roughly $1000 to replace when we had to replace hers three times! I am now finding myself in the same situation where I honked the horn and it refused to turn off until I pulled the fuse. I assume they will also try to charge me $1000 for it's repair.
