I took the car to a gm dealer for routine service. Service manager said key was worn down and could be removed while not in park. Said a new key needed to be cut and they charged for it. I told the manager I never had a key wear down, and the key was on a ring with other keys, including an older car, and there were no issues with keys wearing down. Manager said there was nothing he could do about it. Sounds related to the ignition recall, so I'm concerned that the service manager was not even aware of it, and still has not contacted me about the recall. If that is not covering up the ignition issue, it is a good example of poor reporting and tracking of the issue.

Purchased the vehicle may 2007 and in August 2007 the key stuck stook in the ignition and would not turn on-dealership towed and stated fixed it-now in August of 2010 same issue key would not turn on iginition no warrenty-had to get towed dealership stated there was metal fibers and had to be replaced telling me the first time all they did was lubricate it but not fix it. Costing me $270. 00 to fix. This is only a 3 year old car. The dealer stood with the iginition stating they still can't make it turn so was replaced.
The key will not turn in the ignition to start the engine and/or to stop the engine. I was told that the key was worn out and needed to be replaced but this did not fix the problem. This has occurred on a daily basis sometimes not allowing the vehicle to be turned off and at other times not allowing the vehicle to start up. If the vehicle stalls on a busy highway and cannot be started, this is a serious safety concern as well as if the vehicle cannot be shut down in case of an accident or fire.
My 2007 Saturn Vue all the time since I purchased it the passenger side deployment bag light will not work, unless I turn on the passenger heat , and the seat does not heat up, and I am still not sure it will work because it is an electrical problem, also my electric windows won't work on several occasions, and the ignition shift the key sticks and steering column locks when this happens, and it won't release the key. Dealer won't deal with it, wonder if there has been any other complaints because I do not feel safe especially when I have passengers, it cannot be trusted, not sure of any recalls, but it definitely needs to be looked into and fixed before anyone could get hurt.
Major transmission problems as well as ignition problems. Recently have smoke coming out of my steering wheel when car is started.
We purchased a 2008 Saturn Vue on June 28, 2008. The past 3 weeks, the key would periodically not release from the ignition - service department replaced the shifter saying it was not completely going into park. Also, the airbag light (for driver) starting blinking at the time the above occurred (this was also brought to their attention). When I started the car, it started to blink (only light blinking) and continued blinking when all other lights faded. No error message was received by the chip. Mile one Saturn claims that they could not replicate the air bag issue, therefore the service department perceived there was no issue and released the car to me. Needless to say, I went back in and told them I was not taking the car until they fixed the problem.
I too had problems with the key ignition as well as the passenger air bag light coming on. The key was fixed when I bought the car. Now my issues is with the windows randomly not working and passenger air bag on. My car window on the passengers side did not work for a year. It would work occasionally (when I tested the button) now the passengers side work, but the drivers side dose not. I was told by Saturn that they are unrelated issues. I can not understand that? my car is in the shop to have service done on it. The drivers side window needs to be fixed. At the cost of $265. 00 just the driver side, and they said that their is no problem with pass. Side. . . I can see that the windows are an issues with this type on Saturn. . . And no one is addressing this issues. Their is definitely a problem with the air bag system as well as the window system. I love my car, but what I'm reading here seem to show me that the problems are real concerning my car. And the service center said that they not related? I have a big problem with that. Some one need to check in to the window and air bag problem. Their must be a site that people talk about these issues?? The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Vue. When the contact attempted to start the vehicle, the ignition malfunctioned. It started up initially, but stopped a few seconds later. She also noticed that the fuel gauge did not move. All of the interior lighting in the vehicle illuminated and could not be turned off. The contact exited the vehicle and noticed that all of the exterior lighting was also illuminated. She attempted to lock the doors, but they would not lock. She attempted to activate her panic button, but that also did not function correctly. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that it functioned correctly once it was jumpstarted. The contact was not informed of what caused the failures, although the dealer stated that the vehicle had to be jumpstarted due to the lights being illuminated. The manufacturer was aware of the issue, but stated that there were no recalls available. The current mileage was approximately 38,650 and failure mileage was approximately 38,600.
Ignition problems. Locks up. Ignition was replaced at least 2x and worked on a few times. Lock finally disconnected. Cost $.
On 9/24/08 I purchased a 2008 Saturn Vue xr awd with 5945 miles on it at the time of purchase. It was a corporate fleet vehicle prior to my purchase. It has a "preferred package" including a factory-installed remote start. In the short 4 months I own it I have experienced a problem with the instrument cluster panel at least 10 times or more. Specifically, the instrument cluster display does not illuminate at all. No speedometer, no fuel gage, rpm's or turn signals yet the vehicle is in drive and running. What I've been experiencing typically happens when I use the remote keyless entry (rke) to remote start the vehicle & particularly when it's extremely cold or the vehicle has been sitting overnight for several hours. I remote start the vehicle then within 6-8 minutes I enter the vehicle using the unlock key on the remote. I put the key in the ignition and turn it to the "on" position which should then allow the vehicle to operate normally once it is put in gear. My vehicle's instrument cluster panel is completely dark with no display whatsoever yet the vehicle is running and in motion. One day I tried to remote start it as I usually do but it would not work even though I was in range and then when I put the key in the ignition it still would not start. On another day I was driving when suddenly the dashboard just went completely black for about 5 seconds and then came back on again. I have brought my Vue back to the dealership 3 times already and they say they cannot duplicate the problem and there is nothing that they can do. I just have to wait until it happens again. Unacceptable response on Saturn/gms behalf. I know there is an electrical problem but they wont listen to me. I have also had a control arm bushing replaced already. The rear windshield washer fluid does not come out which they say was clogged & fixed. Thanks to NHTSA's website I was able to find a power steering recall that the dealer didn't address - my entire reservoir needed replacement.
2006 Saturn Vue key won't turn . Car stays in locked position so can't crank car. Have to hit on key with something heavy to get it to engage and turn has been in shop where all they did was put some graphite in lock. Say on chat room that many Saturn owners have same problem and Saturn can't fix it.
(1) the ignition cylinder has been faulty since the vehicle was received at the dealership in April 2007. It was greased twice. Since possessing the car (bought may 2007), I have had increasing trouble turning the key in the ignition. The dealership just urged me to grease it, but finally, July 2008, they replaced the faulty ignition cylinder. (2) the batteries in this greenline Vue were leaking, twice, leading to a recall, and having them replaced.
My ignition lock gives me problems, it is hard to turn. Now I can remove my key in the on and started position. Means the car is started and running and I can remove the key.
The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Vue. The contact stated that whenever he placed the key into the ignition to start the vehicle, it would not turn or grind. He could not turn the key to start the vehicle. He took the vehicle to the dealer two times and they replaced the tumblers to remedy the issue. The contact did not feel that the dealer corrected the issue and the ignition was beginning to "catch" again. After the last visit to the dealer, he noticed that the steering wheel did not lock at all. The dealer stated that the 2007 Saturn Vue was the only model year that did not have a steering wheel lock. The manufacturer agreed with the dealer. The current mileage was 24,240 and failure mileage was approximately 20,000. Updated 09/23/08 the consumer stated the steering wheel does not lock. Updated 09/25/08.
Ignition locks and unable to start the car. Read blog after blog and thousands of people have had (or have) this problem with their 2004 Saturn Vue. Most also record that once replaced by Saturn, for a huge price, the same thing happened again within 6-12 months.
Key gets stuck in ignition and will keep car running. Sometimes won't even turn car on with the correct key. Takes over 5 mins each time jiggling key to get key cylinder to turn over to start the vehicle. This happens on a daily occurrence and has not seemed to get any better .
2003 Saturn Vue, awd, v6,upon pulling out of intersection, accelerating, automatic transmission not up shifting on accelerating. Loss of power. Engine accels but vehicle movement slows. Transmission does not engage. Dealership states that the computer needs to be "dummied up". Vehicle is not use to a different driver. Can not pull out of intersection fast. Good car for very very slow person. . Not "vti" transmission. Dealership has dummied up computer many times. Seems to help for a while but after a while we are just use to acceleration slow to let the transmission shift before applying additional gas pedal. Rear drive unit grinding on turning. Dealer states that this a known problem and has a "kit" ready with all parts needed to make the repairs in the rear end unit. Price is over $1000. 00. . . I was not reimbursed for any costs. Failure on rear unit occurred at 70,000 miles. Vehicle purchased new and my wife drove, till 75,000 miles. Now I am driving the Vue and I would like to accelerate a little more quickly out of some intersection. Spark plug failed at 50,000 miles. They are to last to 100,000 miles. Very expensive repair to replace the spark plug, have to tear off the top end of intake manifold to get to it. Many expensive replacement gaskets had to be replaced and the labor also. I used my personal certified mechanic to save some money. Bad design.
