The wiring harness to the passenger side head light keeps melting, causing me to loose the use of that headlight. I have already repaired the situation twice, now I am see that other Saturn owners have had the same issue. I called gm and there is no recall? how is that possible. I have struggled with this issue for 2 years. This is a serious safety concern, I can't see with one headlight. Please help.

Both headlight wiring melted. Replaced both side headlights and after 2 years the wire harness melted again the parking pawl gets stuck often. When putting the car in reverse the parking pawl gets stuck. Then it will eventually go into reverse but the car jerks and makes a clunking noise. The light issue I've been dealing with for the last 3 years now. The parking pawl issue has been like this for over a year now.

The lights (courtesy lights, dash, and headlights) on my vehicle were flickering. While driving, I began to notice a burning smell. I thought that it was coming from outside, but rolling down the windows did not help. After a few minutes, I saw smoke coming from the driver's side visor area. I had the car towed to a dealership and they stated that there was an electrical short in the wiring harness about the headliner that goes into the sunshade.
We were driving i55 south near batesville,ms. At about 7:30pm when the lights started dimming and all the lights on the dash lite up airbags, check engine etc. I immediately pulled off at the batesville,ms. Exit and headed east to the walmart. . The mechanic checked the battery and decoded the SUV and said that the problem was the wiring harnesses which rest on top of the battery. The main brain of the SUV litterly rest on top of the battery. The mechanic shook the harness and the SUV cranked but the lights were dim and we drove it home. I looked at it the next day and the harness is fastened to the top of the battery and it wasn't completely fastened. When the person installed the new battery at autozone it must have not gotten completely fastened. I looked further and noticed that the conduit on all three branches had disintegrated and wires were exposed. There was a wire tie that was clipped below to the battery box and since the conduit disintegrated this causes the wires to pull out from the brain of the SUV. I pulled the wires back up and wrapped these three branches with tape separately. At the bottom where the three went together,I put extra tape and another wire tie to the battery casing. It still jars loose on occasion and I can tell when the light dims at the odometer. I generally raise the hood and push on the first harness until the light stops dimming on the odometer. I won't drive this SUV out of town. I think this was a poor design and gm could have put the brain somewhere else. I retired from gm's delphi packard electric division and used to check first piece sample wiring harnesses. I am thinking they probably used the wrong conduits because they weren't heat resistant, but these wires shouldn't shake loose unless they are unseated or broken. These three connections can completely shut the SUV off even when you are driving if they come loose.
I have a 2009 Saturn Vue xe with only 40,515 miles and the wiring in the headliner above the windshield and driver side visor caught on fire! the fire was put out with a fire extinguisher. A burned area about a foot around is now in the headliner. It blackened the white paint on the outside roof. The melting wiring insulation in the headliner dripped and burned a hole in the driver leather seat. What a stinky mess! thank god it was put out quick enough and didn't catch the whole vehicle on fire! obviously this isn't an isolated problem based on my google search. I've reported this problem to gm customer service. They said no open recalls on this vehicle. However, I suspect gm is aware of this problem.
The ignition lock on my Saturn Vue has been giving me problems over multiple occasions since may of this year. It locks and at times doesn't allow the key to turn the car on and sometimes once on, it doesn't allow it to shut off. I have taken it into a certified dealer for repair and it took 3 tech's to find that the only issue they could find was a wiring issue under the car but still nothing with the ignition lock as it works on and off. I have reported this with Saturn once already and they have done nothing to remedy the situation. I have been stuck at random stores and late for work and even had to rent a vehicle to take our son to see the specialist in another state. We took it for a oil change today and new battery and once again the tech had a difficult time with turning the key. However seeing as it was at a walmart oil & lube express, they were not equipped to handle that type of repair. Today's mileage is 132200. I am highly recommending against anyone I know of buying Saturns at this point. The customer service is far less than desirable and I wish I had never made the purchase myself.

I notice the beginning of the week when I started my car the air bag light and the service engine light remained on in my vehicle. I called my mechanic immediately and he told me that seemed be be a wiring or mechanical issue with the vehicle. He stated that Saturn did have a recall on the vehicle for this issue and I needed to get a hold of someone immediately. That is why I am filing his complaint asking for immediate assistance with the critical issue with my vehicle. Please if someone can contact immediately.

Passenger headlight went out. I attempted to fix it, but a new bulb doesn't resolve the issue. The protective cover over the wiring going to the light is melted and there are noticeable burn marks around the light and light housing.
My 2006 Saturn view was discovered to have wiring located directly above the fuel tank chewed causing the metal exposure of the wire. This wire was not shielded, as should be, and due to location above fuel tank could have been a deadly situation due plastic fuel hoses just below the wires. All wiring into the fuel tank and adjacent to fuel lines should have extra shielding in case of not only chewing by rodents but possible rubbing actions.
2007 Saturn Vue green line (hybrid) regarding new (8/24/2007) campaign #07195. Saturn of tempe service advisor jered schager described to me a local incident, likely related to this campaign, where the vehicle quit running suddenly during a merge onto a freeway, which almost resulted in an 18-wheeler crashing into the vehicle. There was no crash, but the vehicle had to be towed from the freeway. This was not my vehicle. This was related to me while my vehicle was being repaired for this campaign. My symptom of the problem was a "check engine soon" light. I was led to believe that if I had not taken care of this problem soon, then I probably would have been stranded somewhere (hopefully not in the middle of the desert in 130 degree sunshine), or worse yet in an accident. The fix to my vehicle was to reroute some jumper wiring and reprogram the ecm & tcm.
2007 Saturn Vue greenline (hybrid) has experienced multiple faults related to electrical charging system. According to manufacturer's advisory letter, after the "check battery" light comes on, the vehicle charging system is disabled and the vehicle's 12 volt battery will provide 20-60 minutes of run time before the entire. Electrical system is totally disabled. After 3 trips to the dealer service department, the "check battery" light continues to come on.
2007 Saturn Vue hybrid model: known issue: wiring harness, but no recall. Car looses all battery power when driving. Very dangerous situation. Saturn knows of issue w bulletin to replace part of wiring harness.
The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Vue. On August 3, 2007, the contact took the vehicle to the dealer because the ignition lock was sticking. The dealer replaced the ignition lock housing and wiring harness. On October 12, 2007, the contact expressed his concern to the dealer regarding the failure and was informed that it was his responsibility. He stated that he would like his vehicle to have the features that are mentioned in his owner's manual. The current mileage was 5,025 and failure mileage was 1,548. The consumer stated the key could be removed from the ignition in any gear. The dealer informed the consumer the only way to stop the ignition from sticking was to take the steering lock off. The consumer declined. Updated 12/04/07.
The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Vue. After purchasing the vehicle in July of 2007, the contact had to take the vehicle back to get a new one three hours later. When he took the vehicle to the dealer for 5,000 mile servicing, the dealer discovered a recall, informed the contact, and made the repairs. Within twenty days, the contact had to have three hybrid electrical wiring harnesses replaced, the entire vehicle was re-wired, and a new transmission was installed. All the instrument panel and air bag lights illuminated intermittently. The dealer stated that if the air bag light is illuminated, it is inoperable. On two separate occasions, the contact had to have the failures repaired again. The dealer stated that there was a new recall related to the emission, but they could not perform the repair. They recommended a shop (freemond auto) and they replaced the factory fitting for that make and model. While at a traffic light with the brake pedal depressed, the engine shut off and restarted. The vehicle rolled back while the brake pedal was still depressed. The contact is still experiencing wiring and transmission failure. The failure mileage was 4,800 and current mileage was 16,311. Updated 4/7/08 updated 04/07/08.
2007 Saturn Vue green line (hybrid gas electric). The vehicle stalled in traffic and battery light was on after restart. The battery light problem was previously reported to Saturn of cerritos who did a firmware update to fix it. After 2nd occurrence vehicle was taken to Saturn of anaheim where a wiring harness was replaced.
The instrument cluster needle go off or don't light up intermittently. (the gauge remain lit). The car has been taken to the dealer over 5 times without successfully fixing the problem. It's obviously a loose connection in a wire. Without the needles we are unable to read speed, rpm, temp or gas.
