5 Battery problem of the 2007 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 10/12/2010

2007 Vue hybrid. Numerous electrical problem related to the hybrid system within first month of ownership. Recently received "voluntary recall notice for hybrid battery. Battery "back-ordered" for over 6 weeks. Was told it was entirely safe to drive and it just wouldn't perform as efficiently. Car parked in garage and would not start. Returned from out of town trip and car started. Had to replace at our expense the 12 volt battery. The hybrid battery probably caused the failure of the 12 volt battery but gm doesn't acknowledge that in the recall. Gm should be mandated to pay for failed 12 volt batteries caused by the failure of the hybrid battery.

6 Battery problem of the 2007 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 08/29/2010

2007 Saturn Vue hybrid check battery light on when car started. Lost hybrid functions, the all check lights were visible, starting with battery, then engine, lost abs, traction control, and ability to steer car etc. Car stopped working and 12 volt battery could not even be jump started. Has been in the shop since August 30, 2010. Shop unable to tell me when car will be returned. Perhaps after October 18, 2010. Waiting for a replacement hybrid battery. This is the 3rd time car in shop for hybrid battery defects. I understand that there was a recall issued July 2010 but have yet to receive recall notice from gm. This is a nationwide recall but unable to find any information in print.

11 Battery problem of the 2007 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 05/06/2008

I have a 2007 Saturn Vue greenline and have had the hybrid battery replaced after having the car shut off and restart and losing all hybrid function. I then found out that all battery cells were leaking in my car. Now the car is in the shop due to 3 incidents of sudden acceleration in one day. First time I was parking and the car lunged forward while foot was on brake, second time at a stop light and third time stopping at train tracks and that was very dangerous. I then parked my car and had it towed because of the safety concerns. The dealership says they can not duplicate the problem and tried to return the vehicle with no repairs done. I refused and they still have possession of the vehicle. I have owned it one year and the mileage is approximately 17,000. The first issue was fixed 3 weeks before the second issue started.

12 Battery problem of the 2007 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 05/05/2008

I purchased a Saturn Vue hybrid almost a year ago and I have sustained approximately 12 occurrences of the vehicle just completely going dead. I have taken the vehicle to the dealer 4 times in 8 months. 2 of which were directed at the behest of recall issues related to the battery and battery harness. Both the battery and battery harnesses were replaced yet the problem still occurs. Today, I retrieved my vehicle from the dealer who just replaced the battery harness and the vehicle died two miles after picking it up when they informed me that no power appeared to be draining the battery. While I received quality care, the items were warranted and I received courteous service. The car still remains completely unreliable.

13 Battery problem of the 2007 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 03/22/2008

I have a 2007 Saturn Vue green line. Over the last few days the vehicle will stall on starting after stopping or coming to a near stop (braking and then accelerating). The engine stalls for several seconds, the battery light comes on and then the vehicle will restart. This has happened 3 times and then the check engine light came on. I took the vehicle to the dealer. Codes were reset and I was told that my gps unit which is plugged into the interior outlet may be a cause. After leaving the dealership, the same thing happened without the gps being plugged in. The stalling has happened several time since then and the check engine light is back on. The dealer does not seem to know what to do to correct.

14 Battery problem of the 2007 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 07/16/2007

Our new 2007 Saturn Vue green line hybrid SUV had a check engine and battery light at 2334 mileage. We luckily were in town and parked the car in our driveway, which was then toed to the dealership for repair. This could have resulted in failure of the vehicle in traffic or on an interstate with catastrophic consequences. Saturn had a tech doc#1978388 and TSB#07-06-03-004 as noted on our service receipt. It is very disturbing that they knew the problem existed with these vehicles and did not perform a engine harness jumper replacement and reprogram before the new vehicle was sold. I would refer the NHTSA to the edmund townhall forum at the web address below which has similar complaints, which also list incidences of the Saturn Vue green line stopping in traffic due to the same problem. . 16 Battery problem of the 2003 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 01/25/2005

I have 2 Saturns, a 2001 sc2 and a 2003 Vue. A few months ago, the battery on the sc2 went dead -- this was the 2nd battery since the vehicle was newly purchased. So now the sc2 is on its 3rd battery since taken off the Saturn showroom. The Vue was also purchased new and today the entire electrical system was dead. This vehicle is already on its 2nd battery so (it appears) that will need replacement as well. There appears to be a major electrical fault with Saturn vehicles that they refuse to admit. Otherwise, why would 2 Saturns (different models) go through a total of 5 (60-month) batteries in less than 5 years. I respectfully request that this company be investigated regarding this problem to determine why these problems exist. In the case of my sc2, Saturn (initially) refused to pay for the replacement stating that it was not covered under their extended warranty. It was only after I told them that had I purchased directly from ac delco the warranty would be honored and that they -- in their contract with delco -- refused the warranty services delco offered. They apparently knew of the electrical problems with their vehicles and wanted to fleece customers rather than pay delco extra for the warranty agreements.
