Noises During Shifting Problems of Saturn VUE

The contact owns a 2004 Saturn Vue. While attempting to shift gears, the contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the front driver's side near the engine. The check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 78,000.

The contact owns a 2003 Saturn Vue. The contact stated that when she drove the vehicle, she could hear a loud winding noise; she also noticed that it shifted very hard in second gear, as if a "horse were kicking the back of the vehicle". She noticed the issue every time she drove the vehicle. The vehicle also slipped in gear on the highway and she pulled over to the side of the road and turned it off. She took the vehicle to a dealership and was told that the vehicle was fine and a year from now, the transmission would become a problem. She called the manufacturer and was told that if it was a vti failure and under 5 years, they would pay 100% of the repair costs and if over 5 years, they would pay 50% of the repair costs. The vehicle had not been repaired to-date. The current mileage was 60,662. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.

Let all consumers of the Saturn know I purchased my new 2003 Saturn Vue from york PA Saturn (sutliff group) and they have patched up my 2003 Vue by replacing valves, sensors etc. On the vti transmission/transaxle 4 or 5 different times, which they well know will not fix the problem. I still experience transmission failure during extended periods of driving or times of traffic jam situations. I have experienced transmission problems from the 10,000 mile point on til this time. Does not shift properly into higher gear , still makes grinding noises while turning and accelerating and otherwise fails to operate properly. Transmission was looked at by dealer 5 times avoiding the issue of transmission replacement. Several close calls have invoked me to start a major campaign against the Saturn corp. Saturn needs to have a replacement transmission - consumers can't afford all of these repairs for what is clearly a faulty transmission that has been discontinued! next step is class action suit by owners!!!! all I ask is for gm/Saturn to replace my faulty drive train (engine and transmission) free of all labor and parts with the new type drive train that is in the new 2007-08 Vue !!! its that simple Saturn! and until this happens this transmittal will continue on to websites, public posts, flyers, in front of Saturn dealers etc. Etc. . . Ps. I have copied the consumer product safety, the government recall bureau, astm, and other sites to let them know of this hazard/safety problem. After regular preventative maintenance, 2003 Saturn Vue has continuously experienced transmission problems from 70,000k point on. Vehicle drops gear (often in busy traffic, at intersections, occasionally while just traveling down a road at 30-40 mph), does not shift into higher gear (causing sudden loss of speed during highway travel), makes loud grinding noises while turning and accelerating and otherwise fails to operate properly. Recently had vehicle serviced ($1,000 in charges) and was told that modular was cracked and transmission fluid needed replacement. Problems continue after servicing. Have read extensive reports and complaints involving Saturn Vue vt1 transmission. Saturn needs to have a recall - it's consumers can't afford all of these repairs for what is clearly a faulty transmission that has been discontinued!.

The vehicle has been taken to a dealer approximately three times for the same failure. The dealer stated that the transmission was defective and needed to be replaced. The VIN was unknown. The current mileage was 60,000 and failure mileage was 4.

I had my 2002 Saturn Vue parked in a neighbor's driveway. Twenty to thirty minutes later, my car popped out of gear, backed up, turned, and rolled off an embankment, landing in between trees and onto shoulders. When I called the week before the acccident, I explained to the service department I had been experiencing problems getting my car into gear. I asked them to check that out and I also scheduled an oil change at that time. While servicing the vehichle, they told me that the gear problems had been a fluke of the Vue. Prior to that, I had no gear problems other than a noise when I shifted that I reported to the dealer in September. The dealer told me that the front axle nuts were not torqued properly. They were retorqued per bulletin 02t52. The house that my car had been parked at has a sensor in the driveway, so I know the car took at least 20-30 minutes before it popped out of gear. I reported the porblem on the morning after my accident and was told by the dealer to call the customer service center to report the problem, I have recommended that someone from the Saturn corporation come to look at my vehicle, and the scene of the accident. I believe that there is a problem with my transmission/ and perhaps the transmissions of other Saturn Vue's. Dt.

I have also found a metal clanking sound coming from the front driverã‚s side of the vehicle when shifting the car out of park, or reverse. It still continues to have problems between the speeds of 12 to 30 mph, again the problem presents itself mostly when the vehicle is coasting and losing momentum. The vehicle would be slowing down without any aid of braking of any kind and as the vehicle would attempt to down shift, it would sometimes make a clanking noise, or buck, or in the most extreme cases completely stall out. Also the wiper sprayers have broken twice, and the dealer expects them to break again.
