1 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2009 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 09/20/2020

The vehicle has only 122,000 and is in good physical condition, yet the transmission is slipping badly. After doing some investigation, we found out that this is often the case for this model and year after 120,000 miles. We brought it into our local gm dealer/shop and they told us it needs a new transmission, which ranges from rebuilt at $2500 and new for over $4000. This seems very wrong considering kbb says it books for $4500?.

2 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2008 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 08/02/2020

The transmission was slipping between 45-50 mph at about 1500-2000 rpms the only way to avoid it was using the manual mode. It was only happening after the vehicle was warmed up too by the end of my 200 mile drive today it was slipping bad and it has fluid I topped it off this morning hoping that was the problem but it was not and I consistently checked it throughout the drive and it did not go down or lose fluid.

Transmission started slipping.

4 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2008 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 02/13/2019

Since we have had this vehicle the transmission keeps messing up. The transmission slips after it is put in gear. Once put in gear and the accelerator pedal is pressed there is lag between the sound of the engine rpm increasing and the gears engaging and the car taking off. The vehicle also rolls backwards a worrying amount when it is placed in park. Also when you go to drive the vehicle doesn't wan to go out of the low gear. This has happened not once or twice this is consistent. We have kept it maintained since we bought it. The most recent was just 2 days ago.

5 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2003 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 03/11/2017

March 11, 2010 the transmission in my Vue was not running properly. I had it towed to the dealer who had determined that my Vue fit in the vit transmission "recall". A new one was installed for 50% of the regular price. March 11, 2017, yes 7 years to the day, my transmission begins slipping, smoke is coming from under the car. The car will not move in either drive, reverse or overdrive. The car was acting like it was in neutral. I do believe a transmission should last for more than 7 years. First transmision had 95605 miles and this one 108095 miles on it.

9 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2008 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 09/10/2013

2008 Saturn Vue with 87,000 miles. Out of nowhere I started having issues with the transmission. 80% of the miles are highway miles also. Transmission now slips when going from 2nd to 3rd gear. Earlier today when I put the car in reverse the transmission would not engage so when I pushed on the gas the engine simply revved like I was in neutral. My issues seem similar to many others here. Disappointing to say the least.

2003 Saturn Vue, auto transmission. . . . Transmission failed at 99,400 miles. Saturn dealership repaired the transmission because of the 100k warranty. I had to pay 25% of the new transmission, which was $1,000. The brand new transmission came with a 12,000 warranty. Four days ago, the brand new factory transmission started to slip and whine. Car taken back to dealership in raleigh, nc. Vue now has 113,204 miles. Informed that transmission is out of the parameters of the warranty and the repair cost will be $5900!!! I called corporate headquarters and they couldn't care less about my situation. Now I am out of a vehicle. Saturn knew of the faulty transmission in these vehicles but put a bandaid on the situation. 17 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2004 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 05/21/2008

Our 2004 Saturn fwd v6 Saturn Vue has developed a "shudder" in the drive train that's prevalent in the 30-35mph range under moderate acceleration. It is akin to a transmission slippage although we've never lost traction to the road. The vehicle presently has between 50 and 55 thousand miles. The frequency of occurrence is difficult to predict but seems to be happening more often as we put on more miles. We have addressed the issue to our local Saturn dealership and they have looked into the problem however have found nothing in the onboard diagnostics that would reveal any failures. They kept the car overnight and drove it numerous times but could not reproduce the problem. They have been as helpful as possible but to no avail. Our concern is the issue, which certainly seems transmission related, may present itself at a bad time and could possibly cause loss of traction at a crucial time and leave us (my wife mainly drives the vehicle) in a vulnerable position. However, until the dealership witnesses the problem they have no obligation to do anything. Can the NHTSA bring this to the attention of gm and Saturn? again it is a 2004 Saturn Vue with the v6 fwd configuration.

19 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2002 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 07/08/2006

I have a failed transmission, on a 2002 Saturn Vue with 56k miles on it. I brought it in three months after I bought because the transmission was slipping they claimed they changed the fluid, did a tune up etc. , but the ride really didn't change. Well the transmission finally went out, and they're ordering parts to "fix" the transmission instead of replacing it. In fact they don't make the transmission anymore (which is understandable, who would continue to make something that doesn't work) but now if mine goes out I have to either have parts replaced, or get one out of a wrecked one.

22 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2002 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 09/15/2004

9/15/04 vehicle lost power when accelerating to make a left turn. I almost had a collision from an oncoming vehicle. Vue hesitated again and lost power while attempting to accelerate to get up to posted speed. I had the accelerator floored, rpms shot up to 6000 and I was only able to go 20 - 25 miles per hour down the road. Attempted to drive home at the end of the day, but Vue wouldn't exceed 20 - 25 miles per hour. With 21,937 mile, I drove to Saturn of rochester (mn) and dropped off advised dealer that transmission slipped and engine raced. 9/16/04 Saturn of rochester (mn) technician drove car and felt transmission slip. Technician drained fluid and found metal in fluid and belt slipping. Dealership called to advise that transmission needed to be replaced! returned to owner on 9/23/04. 9/27/04, with 22,060 miles, brought Vue back to Saturn of rochester (mn) because service engine soon light was on. Saturn vie was only able to go 20 - 25 miles per hour down the road ã‚ once again, had to take back roads to safely get to dealership. Technician indicated that they had to rebuild the transmission that they had replaced! when I asked if they had any problems with the Saturn vie the sales person said he hadn't heard of anything. The general manager made the same statement. Using the internet I discovered numerous listings on the national highway traffic safety administration web site. I printed out the information and provided it to the general manager - - he plead ignorance. While my vehicle was being repaired I asked the shop manager if they had experienced any problems and he told me that they had replaced several transmission and that it was widely know that there was a problem.
