6 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2008 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 03/05/2010

This is a sturn Vue, 2008 - 6 cyclinder. First 18,000 miles were trouble free. Car shudders and hesitates - does it at any speed and not consistent with running time- tachometer flutters while it is happening. At 2nd visit to dealer to fix problem, told it is a computer transmission problem and no program has been written to correct. Told this is a normal operating problem. Have spoken to Saturn reps at GMC every day since March 15. Car is getting worse- not better, they have offered no hope of any resolution and will not recommend even trying to swap out parts. Keep on telling me the car is safe and will stand by their original warranty of 5 years/100,000 miles on transmission if it fails. Car gets lousy gas mileage since this started - went from 22. 5 mpg to 19. 5.

7 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2005 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 03/02/2010

While driving between 30 and 40 mph the vehicle experiences a vibration in the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was allegedly repaired by a gm dealer at no charge. The problem was not resolved. At least 4 other attempts to have gm repair the vehicle were refused by gm dealers even after the repair bulletin was extended into 2015. Not satisfied I contacted someone at gm and asked for a referral to another dealer in my local area. I received it and took it the referred dealer and explained the situation. After inspecting the car they acknowledged the vibration issue but said that before anything could be done the engine block mounts had to be replaced at a cost of approx. $1000. I thanked them and took the car to my trusted regular mechanic. I asked him to check the engine mounts (without telling him what happened at the gm dealer) and give me a report. Upon inspecting, he stated there was absolutely nothing wrong with the engine mounts. At this point, frustrated and angry with gm, I basically gave up. Furthermore, this occurred at the time of the gm ignition switch recall debacle. Our Saturn Vue also has a problem with the ignition. On multiple occasions we were not able to remove the ignition key from the ignition switch without pliers and a lot of time. It took over an hour on several occasions to remove the key. We found information online where gm acknowledged there was a problem with the Vue ignition switches, but several attempts to have the switch replaced resulted in refusals by gm dealers. I thought this was odd given the huge recall of ignition switches by gm at the time. We basically received the same treatment concerning the rear end powertrain vibration after the initial repair even though the maintenance bulletin extended the repair period. There was an alternate repair if the first repair failed, but the dealer wouldn't honor it.

9 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2003 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 12/04/2008

I have bought a 2003 Saturn Vue from ebay on July the 3rd, 2008 and was delivered to me on the 21st of July, when I received the vehicle it had a grinding noise, I did not know what that was until it broke down, the vehicle had no warning of this problem. I had a mechanic to look at it and stated it was a transmission failure vehicle VIN # 2. 2 liter with a cvt-I transmission which can only be purchased by the manufacturer can not be rebuilt with an outrageous price the vehicle has 95,000 miles on which no longer has warranty. As I was driving the vehicle which no sign of prior problem started to make a knocking and grinding noise as the vehicle was struggling upon the hill, I pulled over to safety on the side of the road prior to the stop. The engine was still running but the vehicle would not move. Someone helped me push it to the side and stated there may be a transmission problem with it. I got it towed to aamco where the mechanic confirm that this transmission was hard to find only through its manufacturer and the cost of $4,000. 00. Now, I am unemployed, single mother how could something like this be possible to top it off an additional $2500. 00 service charge that vehicle is a piece of trash I need help. The warranty is only to 75k miles on it. Please help me get some type of satisfaction to a running vehicle to help me find a job.

11 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2004 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 09/01/2007

We have a 2004 Saturn Vue awd and the transmission floats between overdrive and the lower gear constantly, when driving between 35 and 45 mph. There is a low grinding noise and a shudder in the car when it shifts to the lower gear, requiring your to downshift the car manually to avoid the problem at low speed. The car only has 53,000 miles on it and with all the complaints I've found online, I'm now afraid to let my wife take the vehicle on long trips. Surely gm has to know about this? . Updated 01-14-08. The consumer stated the dealer has reluctantly offered to cover the cost of the parts only. Updated 12/12/07.
