I was preparing to put the car in reverse to back out of a parking spot. When I depressed the brake pedal, it went all the way to the floor. I had not had any previous problems. I did manage to get it home because I had about 2" of brake down at the floor and I only had about 4 miles to get home. A friend of mine who lives in another state has 3 Subarus and is an excellent mechanic. One is a 2007 Forester just like mine and he suggested it could be the master cylinder. We changed the master cylinder and were beginning to bleed the brakes when my husband saw the brake fluid squirting out of the rear brake lines near the passenger side. We looked closer and there was a pinhole in the brake line near the 4-way joint connector and both were covered with corrosion. I took a photo of it and sent it to my friend. He found the recall information and sent it to me. The photo from the recall article looked exactly like the one I had sent him of my car's problem. I called the Subaru dealer nearest me and told them the problem. They said they could not do anything since the recall covered Foresters from 2009-2013 but it did cover legacy and outback from 2005-2009 and 2008-2011 Subaru impreza, wrx, and sti. I feel since it is a safety issue and hundreds of thousands of their vehicles were affected, that they should honor it and repair my 2007 Forester because it is the same issue. I asked to speak with someone higher up and she gave me the national Subaru number. I spoke with 3 people last evening and one called me today. They refused to repair my car. It is the newest car I have ever owned and I have had it a little less than 2 years. Can you help me, please? I have no brakes, I am not rich, I need help please. Https://nhoilundercoating. Why is the brake line corrosion recall wqk-47 only for 2009-2013 Foresters? I own a 1999 Forester which has just had a catastrophic brake line failure that is exactly the same as what is described in the recall. Corrosion of the brake lines is in the area of the junction block that is located under the car behind the area of the passenger seat. It seems that vehicle safety should not be dependent on the age of the vehicle, especially something as critical as the braking system. When the system failed, the brake pedal became very soft and I could feel it sinking toward the floor. Pumping the brake pedal helped some, but it was still sinking uncomfortably quickly. I was less than a mile from home and was able to make it there safely by pumping the brake pedal. After parking, that was a large puddle of brake fluid in the area under the junction block. I am researching whether my local mechanic can fix the problem, but I do not understand why Subaru is not responsible when this is clearly the exact same problem described in the recall.

Brake warming light came on will driving at 35 mph. After the brake light cam on I drove 2. 5 miles to my home address. After I parked the car I noticed brake fluid on the garage floor under the left (driver side) rear tire. I checked the government website on recalls and found NHTSA campaign number: 14v311000 indicating salt water could splash on the brake lines through a gap in the fuel tank protector, resulting in excessive corrosion of the brake lines. The consequence: brake line corrosion may result in brake fluid leakage. Fluid leakage may result in longer distances being required to slow or stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. I had received a recall letter in July that indicated an issue and I would be contracted when parts became available. Recall campaign wqk-47 nhts recall no. 14v-311.

Regarding: Subaru recall campaign wqk-47 / NHTSA recall no. 14v-311 / July 2014. The remedy for this recall is inspection and testing of the brake lines. If there is no active brake fluid leak at the time of inspection, the lines/connections will be sprayed with anti-corrosion material. It is very clear in the documents that replacement will not be done under any other circumstances, regardless of how much rust/corrosion is already present in the brake line system. I find this absolutely appalling, and an extreme danger to unsuspecting drivers of these vehicles. These brake lines could be one day away from leaking, but if they are not leaking at the time of inspection, they will not be replaced. The owners of these vehicles should be protected from damage that has already occurred to the brake lines in the form of obvious corrosion. This remedy does not fix anything if rusted/corroded parts are going to be left in place, with most owners completely unaware of the hidden danger. I would like feedback from the government regarding this serious concern.

I want to also submit a statement about the problems I have had with my brakes,I also noticed others have had the same problems,as soon as I got the car I noticed the brakes were very soft. I took the car in,I was told they were fine. A couple weeks later I was in line at starbucks and the brakes went right to the floor,I pulled the emergency up narrowly missing the person in front of me. I called the dealer again, before I got the car back in again at dunkin dounuts it did the same thing. It had also started making a horrible smell and had no power. And a few other minor things. I took it in they said the brakes were fine,I argued they were not. The smell was supposedly some kind of fluid leaking on the muffler. Took it home brakes still kept doing the same thing, called back went back in the car was low on oil and the brakes were still doing the non existent thing, plus it still smelled bad and I had a list for them, they gave it an oil change, and said this time the brakes were fine but may need pads in 6,000 miles or so now the smell is normal thou, plus I told them it was not getting good gas milage and hitching, they said unless the engine light comes on they cant do anything. Well now lastly the rear seat belt works only occasionally,my brake light is on all the time and they only stop about half the time my tires are all worn out,at less than 10,000 miles which they say is normal (ok) and it stalls doesn't like to start, and is under recall it still smells bad,the cruise control only works when it feels like it,it uses oil, eats gas,and stalls doesn't like to start, and the brakes act like the anti lock feature is constant even when it shouldn't be?now after an accident and my air bags don't deploy I think it seems like a real trend here and I reported my accident to Subaru of America they don't seem to care.
