1 Engine Stall problem of the 2017 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 11/01/2019

There are two separate issues with this vehicle which has not been resolved through dealers help and no recalls have been issued yet for these problems. First: the engine stalls around 16 to 11 mph. The acceleration slows down rapidly after 16-15mph then it ramps up at 13mph and then slows down around 11 mph speeds. This issue has been persistent since the ownership of the vehicle. Nhtsa needs to look into this problem since it can be a potential safety risk and can cause accidents. Second: the battery on this vehicle was dead suddenly over night without any visible clues. No map or dome lights were kept on. The vehicle was switched off properly and next morning the battery was dead. Somewhere in the vehicle (the suspect is infotainment system) the battery is draining. This has happened twice and had to change the batteries. These issues are huge safety hazards that needs to be address immediately.

2 Engine Stall problem of the 2013 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 05/22/2019

Valve spring recall Subaru dealership "fixed" my car due to this recall back in February 2019, according to manufacturers procedure. This included adding oil and also coolant to my vehicle. It was returned to me as soon as it was completed (took 4 days approx. ) however, recently, the week of the 20th of may 2019, that is about 3 months after the "repair" done for the recall, my engine stalled while I was driving on the road. Fortunately I was close to home and after struggling it turned on and I drove it home. Had to tow it to the dealership to get it fixed again. I am afraid the issue with the engine, is far more serious, and Subaru is not acknowledging the issue as they should. Stalling in the middle of the road can be extremely dangerous. This needs to be fixed in a better matter. To which I think, all affected vehicles with this serious issue, need a new engine.

5 Engine Stall problem of the 2013 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 01/22/2019

Received a notice about safety recall (NHTSA id 18v-722) involving risk of valve spring failure that could lead to engine stalling and risk of crash. Called our local Subaru dealership in golden, CO to have the issue resolved. Was told that the earliest that they could get to it would be may of 2020 (15 months). "too many cars are being recalled at the same time. 150 ahead of us in the queue for this repair. " this translates to only 10 recall repairs performed per month. Said that they hope to move us earlier, but no promises were made. No comment about their liability should the failure occur during this over-one-year timeframe while waiting for this safety recall to be performed.

6 Engine Stall problem of the 2012 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 01/21/2019

Subaru has sent a recall for the above vehicle. The recall number is wty-84 / NHTSA id 18v-772 (December 2018). I was told by my local dealer that the next available appointment is in September, 2020. I then called their recall hotline and was told that parts have not yet been sent to dealers, that a second letter will be sent to owners after dealers have received them, and that I could then get in immediately. However, they cannot say when that will be. This is an engine problem that can cause a stall while driving. The letter sent by Subaru is clear about this being a potential danger. The dealer only told me that, if the engine stalled, they would pick me up and give me a loaner vehicle. They added that that any stall would happen gradually and I would not be injured. Needless to say (perhaps), my concerns about driving this vehicle are not assuaged. I have been told many different things by Subaru, and they don't fit together. Either Subaru doesn't know what it's doing, or it is telling its employees to deliberately lie. Subaru is not taking responsibility for a problem that is the fault of the company. I want to get my vehicle repaired. I want to know that I am driving a vehicle that is safe to drive. And I want to be able to trust Subaru. None of these things are true at this time. Since Subaru is not doing the right thing for its customers, an outside organization must force Subaru to do so. I hope that the NHTSA will do just this and force the company to treat this issue with the respect and concern it deserves.

9 Engine Stall problem of the 2008 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 02/03/2010

2008 Subaru wrx manual trans. 22,500 miles. Between the time the engine comes off high idle (after being started cold) and when it is completely warmed up, the engine will drop its rpm to 0 causing an engine stall when the clutch is depressed in order to change gears. This recently happened when entering a roundabout when I was going to shift down from 3rd to 2nd gear. At this point I only have my left hand on the steering wheel and right on the shift lever. The engine stalls and I loose power steering. Power braking also seems decreased as I was unable to prevent the car from running into the central island of the roundabout. This happens consistently in cold weather. Dealership has tried repairs, but is unable to find anything wrong (3 separate admissions for service for this problem over last 9 months). Computer error codes returned were 301,302,303,304. As of today the car is at the local Subaru dealer for the second day this episode.
