1 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2015 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 01/06/2021

I have a 2015 Subaru Impreza with 31,000 miles (out of warrantydue to age). Thecar has developed a small oil leak from the cam carrier cover (aka valve cover) onto the exhaust manifold and the O2 sensor causing a lot of smoke that then enters the cabin. Subaru's estimate $4973. 87. reading Subaru forums I've come to discover that this is a pretty common problem in vehicles dating between 2012 and 2017. due to the smoke it creates in the cabin, and the health risks there in, and the short life of the part in question, I'd recommend a recall be issued.

2 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2005 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 01/09/2015

I own a 2005 Subaru Impreza wrx sti, upon starting vehicle, idle, and driving there's strong fuel smell under the hood and inside the cabin. I have popped the hood and confirmed is coming from back passenger side of intake manifold where the fuel lines, rails, and injectors are. I have confirmed this to be relating to soa's recall for the 02-03 Impreza wrx's hard fuel line / rubber hose leaking issues. I live in southern California so appears extreme cold weather not the cause. Leaking fuel is a huge safety issue!.

3 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2005 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 01/06/2014

The contact owns a 2005 Subaru Impreza. The contact stated that fuel fumes were emitted inside the vehicle. The dealer stated that the fuel lines and the intake manifold gaskets needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 139,476.

4 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2005 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 02/01/2013

When car is in motion and the heater is on the smell of burnt oil which becomes worse when the car comes to a full stop, valve cover gaskets leak on to the exhaust manifold due to poor engineering many parts need to be removed to gain access which in result causes a very expensive bill.

5 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2004 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 12/01/2012

Upon starting the car during the colder winter months, a raw fuel smell will begin to fill the cabin if the hvac system is turned on to vent fresh air. This smell is strong enough to cause lightheadedness and the sensation of nausea. Upon further investigation, the passenger side fuel line is leaking fuel underneath the intake manifold, to the extent that you can visibly see a puddle of fuel boiling on top of the engine block. This happens because there are two hard metal fuel lines running to the fuel injectors connected by a small piece of rubber hose with clamps. However this hose from the factory is cut too short, so when the temperature is cold enough the rubber looses its elastic properties and as the metal lines vibrate / move with the motor, it leaks fuel out of the rubber hose. This problem has been addressed by Subaru in the TSB #09-36-03. They offer to replace the rubber hose and hard metal fuel line for model years 2002 and 2003 Impreza wrx's free of charge. Having been an owner of a 2002 Impreza wrx before purchasing my 2004 Impreza wrx, I had this service performed at my local Subaru dealership. I am disgusted to find out that this coverage does not apply to the model year 2004 Impreza wrx, when it features an identical motor and drivetrain to the previous years (2002, 2003. ) this means that the fueling system is identical as well, and that the previously acknowledged raw fuel leak is happening in my car as well. The fact that the 2004 Impreza wrx has the same motor. And same fuel system, and Subaru of America will openly deny coverage to have the parts replaced is truly disgusting in itself. Raw fuel leaking on top of a hot engine block, around sources of ignition is the most extreme of safety hazards, and now I own a vehicle in which I cannot transport my wife and child. I am truly disappointed in Subaru for turning a cold shoulder to this.

6 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2002 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 12/11/2009

I recently bought an 02 Subaru and it seems that every time I cold start the car when it gets below freezing outside there is a horrid gas smell in the cabin of the car. On further investigation it is visible that there is a pool of gas accumulating on the motor from underneath the intake manifold. I have just noticed this and called the dealer and they said they had never heard of this. Looking online it seems to be a regular issue and there is no recall or information on how dangerous it is to have raw fuel on a hot engine. I am at a loss and a little concerned for my safety.

7 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2002 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 01/15/2006

This issue is for a 2002 Subaru Impreza wrx wagon. There is a strong fuel smell in the vehicle cabin when the car is stoppped at idle. The Subaru mechanic said there is a clip attaching the fuel line from the tank to the engine under the intake manifold which is loose. They adjusted the clip but said it would be about $800 to fix if the problem occurred again since they would have to remove the intake manifold to repair. The smell came back a couple of days later. I have done research, and there is a TSB for this particular issue, but no recall. Looking at postings on this issue, there are hundreds if not thousands of people with the same issue. It seems to be particular with the 2002 wrx. It seems for an issue that has enough history to occur to generate a TSB that is also such a potential safety issue would warrant a recall.

8 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2002 Subaru Impreza
