1 Transmission Noise problem of the 2016 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 11/22/2018

I was driving to a thanksgiving gathering, when all of a sudden the car julted. It was very odd felt almost like a pin was put in the transmission forcing the tires to stop spining. But was very brief. After another 0. 5 miles of driving on the freeway at 70mph it happened again but continuously with loud grinding and crunchy noises. After puling over the car was smoking. The transmission was extremely hot. No lights warning lights came on. Got a tow truck and it struggled to pull the car on to the trailer bed. And while it was rolling on you could still hear the grinding noises. We had 4 people in the car 2 small 5ft 2in women and 2 makes winning 180 lbs. We had food and duffle bags in the trunk and it was 40 degrees fahrenheit outside we were 1 hour into the trip and on flare roads.

2 Transmission Noise problem of the 2011 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 08/01/2015

2011 Subaru Impreza. Consumer writes in regards to a faulty transmission clutch. The consumer noticed on cold starts and especially if it was cold and/or rainy the throw out bearing would have a consistent squeal. Once the vehicle was warmed up and operating temperature was reached, the noise would subside. At 50,000 miles, the consumer went to another dealership and an inspection revealed the clutch was worn. The consumer was informed it was normal. At the same time, the consumer had an issue with the 5th gear grinding and not being able to put the vehicle into gear without it grinding. A faulty transmission part was replaced under warranty, also, the power steering rack failed and had to be replaced. Seven thousand miles later, the same noise in the throw out bearing had returned. The dealer was unable to find a problem. Not only was there a transmission problem, but, a knocking noise was coming from the engine. The dealer claimed they were going to replace the engine. However, the vehicle has been sitting a the dealer, for over a month.

3 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 06/17/2015

Faint whirring noise noted, no other problems- no change to performance, no warning lights indicating problem but when brought to dealership for a check told transmission needed replacement $ 7902. 88 never had any problems with this car previously, had routine oil changes (although one time within the first year oil light came on indicating oil was low but it was only 1500 miles from last oil change- brought in and had that taken care of), this car has never been in an accident either. I am perplexed by the need for a new transmission when it is a 2013 and has no issues other than what was stated here. I still own $9200 on it. It has just under 74,000 miles on it ( highway commute).

5 Transmission Noise problem of the 2007 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 11/12/2008

I have a 2007 Subaru wrx tr, I purchased a year an half ago, I was driving my car home from work when all of sudden my transmission just started making funny noises, I was able to coast home to my house, put in the driveway, then had it trailed down to my local Subaru dealer, I have not heard if under warranty yet but my car only has 26,000 miles and my 3rd gear is gone along with the syncros, in 1st and 2nd gear, I don't think this should be happen to a brand new car, I thought suabaru's were suppose to last forever that's why I got one, if it is not warrantied I will never purchase a Subaru again. Just wanted people to know that its not just them that was having problems, its alot of Subaru's. I think Subaru should live up to a warranty no matter what is wrong with the car, that is the whole point of have a warranty. So why buy a car if they don't hold up to what they tell you.
