Takata inflators;the air bag warning light has been flashing on &off &now it's on all the time , the bag was supposed to have been changed by the dealership on Jan. 19 2017 @ northpark Subaru here in san antonio TX. ,how can I verify that the bag was indeed replaced & why did the airbag light started to flash after the bag was replaced a short time afterwards , not all the time , but every now & then & now it's on all the time ? is it safe to drive & how can I confirm that the recall was indeed preformed ? when I picked up my car ,to me it looked like it had'nt been touched ,to be honest , but I did'nt question it @ the time , am I wrong to think that ? any way I was not told which bags were replaced , driver side or pass side or both , I don't know , can you help ???.

Takata inflators - I contacted Subaru and they are still months away from being able to replace defective equipment. We are unable to use the vehicle for our family because of the safety issue.

Takata - psan inflator, never notified.
The contact owns a 2010 Subaru Legacy. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 16v694000 (visibility/wiper) and 16v358000 (air bags) for the passenger side air bag inflator. The parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
Safety|service campaign: wqr53|NHTSA campaign: 15v323000 05-08 leg/out pass. Air bag inflator:: sent this email to Subaru today: been calling albany Subaru (albany, CA) and downtown Subaru (oakland CA) for 2 months for service on this recall. Both say they have no parts, will call me, I'm on the list, they get parts to do 2 services a month, there are over 400 on the list. . . Don't you think this is unacceptable for a safety recall? when can I drive with a passenger again? NHTSA.

I rec'd notification that the front passenger air bag inflator needs to be replaced, but the parts aren't currently available. In the meantime, I was advised to not let a passenger sit in the front. That's a difficult advisory with which to comply. Can't the front passenger air bag inflator be DE-activated for the time being? has this possibility been considered? I've also written to Subaru about this situation. Thanks, joe.

Takata recall: I'm writing to complain about Subaru's handling of the takata inflators. I called my local dealer today to set up an appointment to remedy the passenger airbag problem and was told there would be a delay of 2-3 months before Subaru will have the fix available. The email I had received stated that I should not let anyone use the front passenger set during that time. That is unrealistic. Then when I went to this website to file a complaint about the delay, I noticed that as of a few days ago, the driver side airbag is also being recalled. If this means no one can drive the car for 2-3 months, this is even worse than the original problem. My suggestion would be that Subaru give me a car to use for 3 months, until they can fix both airbag problems. Thanks for any action you can take with these problems.
Takata inflators: the manufacturer is taking a long time to fix this serious safety problem. I got my notice in February 2016, and it is now April and I have not been notified that the dealers have parts to fix my vehicle. This is too long.
Subaru issued a recall on the 2005-2008 Legacy and outback due to an inflator in the front passenger air bag needing to be replaced. For free. Fine. . . . There is a shortage of parts and we are expected, and I quote to "not allow passengers to ride in the front passenger seat" this is a safety hazard it says in all caps and "in the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the front passenger air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking vehicle occupants and potentially causing serious injury or death. " my local dealership said it could be a year before we are in line to receive parts. Could cause death to sit in the front seat. Why are we not given loaner cars? how is there a shortage of an inflator? this is unacceptable and a potential for death to myself and riders?.
I brought my car to the local repair shop when my airbag light on the dashboard was coming on intermittently. Unfortunately I had to take the car to the dealership for them to diagnose the problem. When I called bertera Subaru I made the first appointment they had available, which was two weeks from when I was calling. I dropped my car off on my scheduled appointment on July 10th at 10:30 am. Bertera informed me that my car should be ready for the end of the day. At 4:00pm bertera called to tell me that they were unable to take a look at my car and would not get to it for the rest of the day. Disappointed with the customer service, and still wondering what was wrong with my air bag I had to make another appointment for Monday July 13th. On Monday bertera informed me that my car was "cleared of all recalls" yet my airbag sensor needed to be replaced for $384 and if I didn't replace it I will still have to pay $120 for the diagnosis and that it is a safety hazard to continue driving because if I got in an accident the airbags would not deploy. I instantly looked online where I saw hundreds of complaints from Subaru owners with airbag problems. When I received the copy of my service the airbag light error was code 26. There was power and ground on input side, but the indicator "internally shorted". Since the airbag does not work when the light isn't working properly this is extremely dangerous. I urge the NHTSA to let all potentially affected owners know about it. Please consider this complaint to further investigate Subaru and add this to the existing problem of takata defective inflator and propellent devices airbag recalls. This "internal shortcut" is also contributing to the defect in airbag deployment. Thank you for your time, stephanie desmond.

Airbag warning light on the dashboard comes on intermittently , but now stays on the majority of the time. Took car to dealer for passenger airbag recall and they told me the airbag light on the dash is fault code 26. Many other Subaru owners reporting this exact same issue, which is related to faulty soldering of components in the overhead map light console. As this is a critical safety issue (passenger airbag may not deploy in an accident), Subaru should issue a recall to repair or replace the faulty component(s). Beware- serious safety issue. Also feel that the takata inflators is related to theis issuse. I have had this airbag issue since I owened the Subaru complained to the dealership but I would have to pay for the fix when I no that there is fault in the way the components were welded.
