I was driving in traffic and I put on my brakes suddenly and the srs light came on and remained on all day. I took it into the dealership and they ran a diagnostic which cost me 97 dollars, the code was b0113 right side air bag defect. I was quoted 2,000 dollars to repair. The air bags on my car have never deployed and I think there is a defect with the air bags and should be repaired by Toyota free of charge.

My car was parked in a parking lot and was hit by some type of vehicle. The damage was extensive and the airbags deployed and the seat belt locked on the drivers side. The damage was to the right side. There was no one in the car and no witnesses as to what happened but it has been 4 weeks and my insurance is suddenly refusing to pay after issuing a work order to the repair person because the air bags deployed. There is a boat ramp across from the parking lot. I do not know for sure what hit my car, I just do not feel it is fair that usaa is telling me the airbag can not deploy without the ignition being on. I have not had a rental and had to drive my son's hunting truck which is very uncomfortable. They tried to say there was no way the car could have been hit in the parking lot. I have witnesses, one who confirmed that we found my car in the parking lot with the damage done and I was very upset when I saw it because I was sick and stress adds to my illness so I had someone drive my car to the repair shop and the guy told me it did not need to be driven again and to call in a report to the insurance company. The shop has almost finished the work and now the two investigators who came and interrogated me today and completely shocked me with what they were saying upset me greatly. If the airbag can not deploy when it should and has come out when no accident then why is there a problem with my airbag deploying when an obviously large vehicle hit it and did almost 9000 dollars in damage? please help me. I am a single mom who just moved from a home with black mold and my sister who financed the car for me has stage 4 lung cancer. I have so many diagnosis, I am on total disability. I am in the process of trying to buy a home after my kids and I have moved 5 times so I do not need this stress. I really need my car back. Thank you and god bless.

Air bags failed to deploy. I was involved in an accident in which my car was t-bone on the pax side and then my car crashed head on into a guard rail. The other vehicle was going at an estimated speed of 35 mph while my vehicle was crossing an intersection at less than 5 mph. The impact of the crash crushed the pax side of the car; jaws of life had to be used to extract the pax in my vehicle. Upon impact my vehicle travelled in a side manner and spun around hitting a guard rail approximately straight on. The entire front of the vehicle was crushed and the driver door was bent on impact. The vehicle was a total loss; nothing in front of the front tires was left on the vehicle. In spite of this, not a single airbag in the vehicle deployed. Police report done on scene as well as emt report state the same.

1. I was at nellis air force base performing a ceremony. After the ceremony I entered the vehicle with wife to go to the base shopping area. The vehicle was parked in a parking space with a concrete tire stop, and wall in front. Entered the vehicle to back out. It came out quicker than normal off axis and the rear bumper impacted the concrete protector to a pole with very little damage. I put the vehicle in neutral and felt no out of the ordinary indications. 2. I put it into drive with my foot on the brake to pull forward then back out. The car accelerated at full power sufficient enough to kick out the concrete tire stop behind the vehicle, and total the front end of the 2003 Toyota Avalon x LS to the tune of 17684 dollars. . I purchased the vehicle in December of 2008 and had no prior problems, and not being a recalled Avalon no warning. I went through the NHTSA database for Avalon from 2000--2010 and found I had the exact same problem others reported. 3. Toyota dealership was contacted at the time of the accident. When I called corporate later in the month they did not even have the vehicle in my name. I asked for an inspector and they sent one his name email etc is on file. When I called Toyota corporate again they said I would get a letter from their claims department. About the findings. In 2-4 weeks. They did not offer to pick up the rental or to provide any assistance. . Note: I put in speed control and air bags for I had to put in something to make the menu work. It accelerated out of control with my foot on the brake the exact cause is to be determined, I could not control the speed so that fit closest. The air bags did not deploy for it hit on an angle, a flaw in the design. If you accelerate at full power into a brick wall they should deploy. Parking space speed unknown put in 30 mph to make the form work. Form needs updating this should be optional.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Avalon. In December 2009, while driving 30 mph on a bridge the vehicle began to fishtail but she was able to control it. The vehicle began to accelerate suddenly and although she depressed the brakes, the vehicle would not slow down until she hit another vehicle while driving approximately 30 mph. The abs and skid assist lights were both illuminated on the dashboard. There were no injuries and a police report was taken. She also stated that the air bags did not deploy. She had not spoken with the manufacturer or the dealer to-date. The current and failure mileages were approximately 32,000.

Srs airbag light comes on intermittently have been back to the dealer multiple times and the light goes off, the one time it was on the technician placed the computer on it and no error code was showing even though the light was flashing on and off. Another technician replaced the main sensor module $700+ but the light started flashing again after the weather changed and started getting cold. Dealer says I have to bring it back for more diagnosis, also more money. Called Toyota corporate offices and they will not even talk to me about refunding the unecessary repair cost as car is out of warranty. Have seen multiple instances of this behavior being documented in the internet postings, why hasn't the nhsta directed Toyota to fix this safety issue. If the light is on the airbags will not deploy and multiple blogs have stated that Toyota airbags have failed to deploy in multiple instances. I think a major recall is in order for Toyota Avalon airbags for the 2001-2004 model years.
Problems with airbag light being on intermittently since about 2005. Just read complaint about airbag light in this position failing to deploy in 2004 Avalon(same as mine) in an accident with injuries. Have taken mine in to dealer but light always goes off before they look at it. I'm very scared now that I see that just this year a 2004 was involved in accident with problem with airbag light staying on and airbags did not deploy although vehicle totaled. There should be a recall.
I had an auto accident and ran into a tree. Car totaled however, the air bags did not deploy. Car was a 2004 Toyota Avalon xls, 4 door model.
Air bag warning light flashes continuously from time to time, then operates normally after instrument panel start up check. Many similar comments may be found on internet by searching 2004 (and other model years) Toyota Avalon. Dealers nor Toyota manufacturing appear not to have an absolute/accurate resolution. Some technicians feel the problem (among others) may be related to a steering recall repair as a cable within the steering column could have been damaged in the repair process or steering system failure or as an inadvertent cable wear under normal steering conditions. Owners are bearing the cost of repair and loss of vehicle resale value. Unknown is the potential lack of passenger safety if the air bag system is inoperative. Accident records indicate that in some accident cases air bags have not deployed and passenger injury/death has occurred.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Avalon. While driving 40 mph, the contact's vehicle was rear ended and destroyed. His vehicle then struck another vehicle on the front end. The air bags failed to deploy. The seat belt did not restrain the driver from being pushed into the steering wheel and injured. The current and failure mileages were 12,000.
Arrived at an intersection's light and applied the brakes and car accelerated and crashed into the car which was in front. The air bags failed to deploy as well. The consumer stated when his wife arrived at an intersection, she applied the brakes, but the vehicle accelerated and crashed into the vehicle that was crossing from west to east. While his wife was going from north to south. Updated 03/29/10.

: the contact stated while driving 40 mph, the vehicle struck a deer and the air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was not taken in for service, and the manufacturer was notified.
2004 Toyota Avalon, srs light comes on while driving, Toyota can not get a fix because they state that the light has to be on when I bring it in. I have been able to do it only once and then it went off before they could get a diagnostic reading. The light will come on steady then flicker randomly. I was told by a Toyota representative at the dealership that if a accident were to occur while the light is on that the air bags would not deploy. They also stated that the computer is not holding the error code which would assist in finding the problem. I have taken photos of the light on while driving and this was at 43952 miles. To date the car is just above 90k miles and the srs light is still randomly coming on. I have tried many a times to get to a Toyota dealership while the light is on but it either goes out while in transit or goes out prior to dealership hooking up diagnostic equipment. I feel that this is a major problem to safety of my family since the airbags will not deploy if the srs light is on. Toyota should look further into these types of issues since it is in my estimation a major safety issue. I have photos if needed.
The airbag light comes on at random times. It stays on from a few seconds to 15 minutes. Last week I was driving a distance of 60 miles and my wife counted 19 times that the light came on. Repeated contact with the local dealer and Toyota have revealed that if the light is on at impact the airbags will not deploy. Toyota never sees the light on and will do nothing to try to repair the problem. They say it would be too expensive. I have a 7 year 70k warranty. I have provided serial pictures of the light being on. Toyota will not accept this as"we must see it", like I am a liar.
: the contact stated while traveling 15-20 mph on icy roads the driver lost control of the vehicle. There was prior braking and the vehicle passenger side front door struck a tree. The airbags did not deploy. There was a police report taken at the scene. Both occupants were wearing seatbelts, but the passenger sustained a minor cut. The vehicle was towed to the dealership where the insurance company deemed the vehicle totaled. The manufacturer sent an engineering analyst associate who determined the airbags should not have deployed.

It was a clear day dry road, about 5:30 pm on Aug. 16, 2005. I was westbound on state rt 9, in loudoun county va traveling at about 30 mph. A 2005 Honda crv, SUV, crossed my lane directly in front of me. I was so close that there was no time to avoid the accident, no time to slow down. I pushed the SUV sideways about 30 feet before coming to a stop. During the accident my Toyota Avalon air bags failed to deploy, (operate). During the accident I could see the side air bags on the Honda operate. As a result of the accident I was injured by the seat belt and my car was a total loss. No corrective action has been taken by Toyota with respect to this accident.
The consumer was involved in an accident and the air bags did not deploy. There was no indication that the air bags would not deploy. The manufacturer was called and the consumer is waiting for a reply. The dealer had not been contacted yet. The driver sustained bruises to her sternum, abdomen and left side from the seat belt. The cruise control was on when all of a sudden a hail storm hit and instantly changed the road into ice. The consumer swerved from the outer lane across the highway and into the median where the vehicle struck two vehicles. The traction control did not activate and the steering had become inoperative. The traction control was non-existent on all 4 wheels.
2003, Toyota Avalon, backing up, sudden acceleration, pole stopped car, brakes didn't stop racing engine, put car in drive, shot forward into golf course, brakes wouldn't work, put car in park, didn't stop car, hit trees, utility pole, tried to steer, little or no response, turned key off, car finally stopped, car totaled, airbags did not deploy, seat belt on, but impact made head hit left side of windshield, received concussion, overnight hospital stay. Reported to Toyota, they wanted car, we refused to let them have it. Toyota sent inspector he refused to open hood, or put auto on hoist to examine, refused to examine, just took pictures. Then Toyota attorney sent letter saying they couldn't see from their examination that the car failed. Had 3 wittiness that Toyota inspector refused to inspect car. My automobile insurance totaled auto and settled, they took auto.
When applying the brakes the vehicle surged forward. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a garage. No report of air bag deployment or injuries. The consumer had come to a complete stop, then pulled forward when the vehicle surged forward. The vehicle went over a 4-5 inch curb in the back of the garage crushing everything. The consumer tried to use the brakes but they didn't respond and the air bags did not deploy. The dealership stated that everything was fine.
While driving 5 mph, the driver applied the brake pedal and without warning the vehicle accelerated uncontrollably. The driver was not able to maintain control of the vehicle and collided into a fence. Both frontal air bags failed to deploy. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection. The mechanic was unable to duplicate the problem.
