In oct2017. I took my car in for an oil change do to an oil bell telling me oil was low. They told me there was no oil in there at all. . And could not find any leak. They tell me it is the pistons and oil consumption problem. I now have to add 2 quarts of oil a week of my own. I never got a letter from Toyota stating a problem or how to fix it. . I want it fixed.

39 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2017

I bought this car brand new. For the past 4 years I've experienced more that average engine oil consumption. I contacted the Toyota dealership last year regarding this. They informed me that my car qualified for the recall on excessive oil consumption test. When the first test results came out I was informed that my car passed the test and that it didn't qualify for the recall repairs. When the following oil change was due I took my car to another Toyota dealership just to get the second opinion on the oil consumption test. I informed them that this would be the second time I was requesting the oil consumption test for my vehicle. Surprisingly the results came out the same way, that my car passed the test. As of recent, the situation has become worse. I'm supposed to turn in my car at the Toyota dealership for an oil change every 5,000 miles per Toyota standards, but after about 700 to 800 miles my engine begins giving noises when I turn on the car, which over time I came to learn that this kind of noise is an indication that the oil level is very low and I need to add more oil. My car is not leaking any oil, it's consuming more oil than how it's supposed to. I am considering doing the oil consumption test to another reputable dealership with no connections with Toyota to see how the results are going to be. In the meantime I would like to request a help from the NHTSA because I believe Toyota needs to be accountable to their actions. Thank you.

40 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2017

Excessive oil consumption. I was never made aware that my Toyota had this problem until I reached 100,000 which just happened recently. According to Toyota, my option for coverage ended 8/2016. I'm being punished for having conservative miles. Criminal and deceiptful.

41 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2017

Toyota issued TSB for "excessive oil consumption". I went to the dealership for their 'test' (I. E. , more than 1 qt of oil in 1,200 miles) and just barely "passed". But the problem grows worse over time and now burns oil extremely quickly. But Toyota told me today that since the care is now more than 10 years old, there is nothing they will do for me. Why won't Toyota just do a "recall" to fix this obvious problem?.

43 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2017

Am a person who always get my oil change on time since I bought my car. However, over the last year, I have notice the following issues: my oil pressure light come on halfway through your maintenance schedule. My engine burn through as much as 1 quart of oil in 1,200 miles I took my vehicle into the Toyota dealership on August 10, 2017 located on 1000 blairs bridge rd, lithia springs, GA 30122. They checked my vehicle and told me the following: I was told that my engine burning through oil is normal and nothing to be alarmed of they acknowledge damaged, oil-deprived engine only to deny warranty coverage; they quoted me over 3,000 to get fixed two weeks later, I checked my oil and I was completely out of oil. Over time, this issue is getting worst. I have contacted Toyota corporate office with no resolution; I continue to leave messages. I would like to have my car fixed since this issue is common in 2007 solora's.

44 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2017

Bought car used a year ago. Had oil consumption test done at 74,000 miles within time frame allowed. Was told engine was good. Now, at 80,000 miles oil is at bottom tip of oil dip stick. I called dealer where oil consumption test was done. Was told "we only added a quart. . . " at test's conclusion. I was not told at the time of the oil consumption test's conclusion that a "quart was added. " since I was not told a quart was added, I wasn't aware I had to watch my oil. Upon starting the vehicle, oil light flashed briefly but I couldn't make-out what it was. Following day, upon starting vehicle, it flashed again. Another day and it stays on very briefly but long enough for me to figure that it was the oil light. I let car sit on flat surface for an hour, checked oil and it just touched tip of dipstick. I added two quarts of oil.

The engine locked up and failed while on a over night trip leaving passengers stranded in the dark in the middle of the night. The oil light came on only minutes before, not allowing for adequate time to intervene. We were unaware at the time of the engines problem with excessive burning of oil. The garage mechanics were expecting to find an oil leak as the problem for the engine burning up and were surprised to find no leak. The car was purchased 8 months ago, pre-owned with 72,000 miles on it. When the engine failed it had 89,000 miles on it and $9000 left on the loan. Reluctant to pay thousands to have the engine replaced since the engine is known to have this recurring problem.

52 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2017

I recently bought a 2007toyota Camry December 2016 and ever since I bought it, it has been consuming too much oil. It would burn my full tank of oil at around 1k-1. 2k miles after an oil change. I,'m afraid that this much oil consumption will eventually lead to wrecking the motor and probably causing an accident. Toyota had a warranty for this type of issue but it expired last year. And I had no idea about this until just recently searching for this type of problem. To fix this problem in which I was not aware of in the first place, the only solution to this would be a recall.

53 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2017

The engine oil has burned up. Have almost no oil left after getting oil change less than 3000 miles ago. The is no oil leakage on driveway where car is parked. Oil filter is on tight and oil cap is on. My wife said she was getting a warning light of some kind that day so I checked the oil when she told me. I took my car, bought and added 4 qts of high mileage oil and zmax treatment to minimize any potential damage.

54 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2017

My car is excessively burning oil. I have a 2007 Toyota Camry le. I have my oil change every 3,00 to 5,000 miles at the Toyota dealer. My oil level would go low between oil changes. My husband would constantly check and add oil between oil changes. My husband asked me to ask the Toyota dealer to check to see if I had an oil leak. The dealer told me I did not have an oil leak and they did not know why my oil level was going low between oil changes. After my husband did some research, he found out the 2007 Toyota Camry has a problem with their engines excessively burning oil. Toyota and the dealer knew there is an issue with that type of engine burning oil excessively and they did not tell me! who is going to fix this, it's not my fault?!.

56 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 03/29/2017

We own a 2007 Toyota Camry le. We have always had it regularly serviced by the dealership it was purchased from. Around 145,000 miles, it started burning oil rapidly, around 1 quart every 1,500 miles. I started researching and found that Toyota is aware of this situation but, unless the issue happens within 100,000 miles, will not cover the repair. This needs to be remedied as they know there is an issue with their vehicle.

58 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 03/08/2017

I have an excessive engine oil consumption problem so on March 2016, I go to the dealer to check and said that my car pass the test without any suggestion to follow on, I still has this problem and even more serious so I go back to check then the dealer said once pass is not their issue ,I wonder what is the standard the pass or not pass and I call the main Toyota office to ask for help and they said ,I can ask for the second test but I just pass their extended warranty that is just pass half a month ago. My question is I know my car has the problem but I has no suggestion what to do and they keep delay the care of my car until the warranty is gone . Actually my first approach this problem is still under the warranty period but that is not count?? I do not trust Toyota car any more and I am so worry about the safety of myself everyday while I driving this car. My car is just 10 years pass and driving only 97320mileages when I ask them about my worry second time. Hope any good suggest and help from you otherwise I need to give up my car.

59 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 03/07/2017

I purchased this car used a few years ago. It has had a high oil consumption the entire time. It has been extremely aggravating and costly putting oil in the car weekly. As a single parent, I didn't take the car to be fixed because of financial reasons. I'm just finding out about the extended warranty and the time has passed for me to take advantage of the warranty. Toyota knowing about the issue makes it even worse. This should have been a recall instead of an extended warranty. I was considering buying a new Toyota until I read this. This makes me distrust Toyota because of the underhanded way they're treating their customers about an issue they knew about.

60 Engine Burning Oil problem

61 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2017

I discovered that Toyota has had issues with excessive oil consumption in certain model years. I have a 2007 Toyota Camry xle which was listed as one of the vehicles. This is my 4th Toyota of which I have put on over 1 million miles between these vehicles. Now with this 2007 which now has 211,000 mi. I find I am having to add oil every 1000 mi. Or the oil light comes on. I change the oil every 3000 mi. Toyota told me nothing can be done because the extended warranty that was given expired in oct. 2016. I bought the vehicle in July, 2015 with 146,000 mi. On it. I understand that a letter was sent out in may, 2015 regarding this matter. That apparently went to the previous owner or the dealership. Now after 4 Toyotas. . . . 1 million miles. . . . They say nothing can be done! I don't agree.

62 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2017

63 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2017

Excessive engine oil consumption: my 2007 Toyota Camry is consuming 1 quart of engine oil every 1,200 miles based on a latent design defect in the engine pistons and piston rings. Toyota issued a technical service bulletin and set the oil consumption levels at a ridiculous level (1. 2 quarts per 1,200 miles) and they continue to reject my request to pay to fix the problem. They say this is normal. Funny none of my other 5 Toyota's have ever done this!! I strongly believe this is a safety issue with my vehicle and has a significant monetary cost to fix the issue. Toyota knows they have a problem and wouldn't pay to fix the issue.

64 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2017

The engine has failed an oil consumption test. I did not know this was an issue, but now have been told I am outside of the window that they will repair. I did not know there was a window.

65 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2017

My 2007 Toyota Camry ce with the 2. 4l 4 cylinder engine is consuming engine oil at an excessive rate. Vehicle is currently undergoing Toyota factory "excessive oil consumption test", and showing low oil on dipstick. On line research has indicated many owners learning either their dealer or Toyota, or both are hesitant or refusing to perform corrective action at no cost to the current owner. On line recommendation is that this complaint should be filed with your agency along with two other entities involved in monitoring Toyota motor company and Toyota dealer response and remedial action.
