I started noticing a glare on my 2011 Toyota Camry on the inside on the dashboard. It appeared shiny and I figured I accidentally cleaned it with the wrong product. It started at the closet point of the windshield so I didn’t worry about it. Today (6/4/25) I went to clean it again and noticed the whole dashboard was extremely sticky and nothing would clean it off. Paper towels and microfiber towels stuck to it. I noticed the dash was coming apart when I tried to clean it. I called Toyota customer service and they informed me they sent a letter in 2018 about the class action lawsuit and that they were replacing the dashboard. I do not remember ever getting this letter. They woman tried to ask someone higher up about trying to help me since the cut off date was 2021. They said there was nothing they could do due to it not being done in 2021. This is a safety issue due to the glare when driving. I believe this needs to be a recall and that customers should be able to have Toyota fix it. It’s continue to melt and it’s going to end up ruining the whole car. Please take cere of this, please check it as a recall. I would assume this would mess with the airbags as well. I cannot afford to have the whole dashboard replaced, when it should be a recall due to Toyota being at fault. It’s their responsibility to test these things and they failed big time with this. A dashboard should not melt.

Malfunction of connections to radio system. All buttons surrounding radio, including radio control buttons on steering wheel, do not function. The screen still turns on and displays the typical home screen but the screen does not function either leaving the radio system stuck on the home screen. Again , none of the buttons and/or screen functions work connected to the radio. The clock time is still displayed and will change but it is the wrong time but once again, cannot be changed because the functions surrounding the radio do not work.

The engine pull broke. The mechanics told me it’s a common issue with Toyota so why is there not a recall. It causes the car to stall and today it would not go forward. This is safety issue if it happens while I’m driving.
P268115 engine coolant bypass valve I know my daughter received a letter from Toyota to her 2018 Camry to fix the same issue. But I checked and to my 2019. I have the same issue p268115 in my Toyota Camry 2019.
The panoramic sunroof on my 2020 Toyota Camry xse failed to close on two separate occasions. The most recent incident occurred about three months ago. After opening the sunroof, the glass panel would not close, leaving the vehicle fully exposed during heavy rain. I had to cover the opening with plastic and tape while standing in the rain, which caused water to enter the vehicle and led to illness from exposure. This failure poses safety risks, including: driver distraction if the failure occurs while driving. Possible water damage to electrical components, potentially affecting vehicle operation. Reduced visibility in heavy rain. Security risks if the vehicle cannot be secured. Online research and discussions with other owners revealed that this problem appears to be relatively common with Toyota Camry models equipped with a panoramic roof. My initial repair estimate was approximately $12,000, which is unreasonable given the vehicle’s value. I ultimately had the sunroof permanently sealed shut at my own expense. I have video evidence and documentation from both incidents, including an earlier occurrence on August 29, 2020, which was reported to a Toyota dealer but dismissed at the time. I believe this should be investigated as a potential recall.

Awd hybrid vehicle makes a noise at speeds under 20mph , that sounds like an electric motor or bearing - salesman said the noise is a mandated law by NHTSA ? or ? month later the maintenance tech forman took it for a test drive and said the same thing . That the noise was created (by a speaker ?) so the vehicle can be heard at low speeds / below 20 mph . I asked where the speaker is , he said he didn't know ! I asked if he could show me it on a diagnostics screen , he again refused . The noise sounds exactly like an electric motor . Mg1 , mg2 ? I can't hear the noise when backing out of a driveway or similar low speed situations ? I need to verify if this is true - is there an actual law that the vehicle has to make a noise ? and it was okayed to use a noise that sounds like the hybrid electric motor or bearing ? even if this is true the computer logic should be changed so that the sound pulses so that it is obviously a speaker and not a mechanical issue . ( like no grease ) and it should always work when it is most needed , backing up and slow driving / all the time under 20 mph . Service department should plug in a diagnostic scanner and prove to me that a speaker is making the noise . * why is this a safety issue ? because if they are lying , eventually ( when it is out of warranty ) this vehicle will break down . Are all 2025 Toyota hybrids making some kind of noise ? and if it is a noise created by a speaker - prove it are all 2025 Camrys making this same noise ? maybe they all have the same mechanical problem ? why wait till there is a crash , fire , or an accident ? as in the next section - additional details . And again if it is a legitimate noise generated for safety . At the least change the computer logic so it pulses and doesn't sound like a bad motor generator bearing . And have the maintenance techs trained to know where the speaker actually is . I don't want to share my personal information with Toyota . If they are lying.
Urgent safety complaint for my 2025 Toyota Camry se. I feel unsafe driving this car, especially with my child, due to extremely premature and unsafe tire wear found at only 17,309 miles. Key facts: mileage: 17,309. Problem: needed immediate replacement of 4 tires due to severe premature wear. Two tires worn to steel belts, risking tire failure. Faulty wheel bearing also diagnosed. Safety: high risk of tire failure. Unsafe feeling driving car, particularly with child. Maintenance: regular tire rotations performed. Alignment done at ~9,000 miles. This severe wear is unacceptable and unsafe. My 2 prior new Camrys had tires last 45k-60k miles. Expected these tires to last at least another 25,000 miles / 1 year. Finding steel belts at <18k miles was shocking/unexpected. Despite the danger & maintenance history, Toyota dismissed concerns, blaming only the tire maker (bridgestone). Toyota refuses to investigate potential vehicle causes (suspension, alignment specs, wheel bearing link) for this rapid, unsafe wear. Online research shows a pattern: other newer Camry owners report similar premature tire wear, possibly linked to larger factory rims. Extreme low-mileage failure suggests a vehicle safety defect. Urge NHTSA to investigate promptly to determine if a vehicle issue is causing this unsafe tire wear on these models, putting families at risk.
Driver door has remained in lock position when I tried to exit the car. Could not manually move the inside door lock and had to climb over the middle console to exit the car. I see this as a safety issue, as exiting the car slowly during an emergency could have caused an emergency. Also, for persons who are older or have physical mobility issues, climbing over console could be impossible. In addition to this issue, and possible related, is the fact the driver door actuator does not function properly. Hence, when trying to use my remote key fob, driver door will not unlock. This is potential for an emergency; for example, if trying to quickly get into car in a parking lot where there can be potential thieves, I am delayed getting safely into my car, since I have to use a key to unlock driver door. If I go around to passenger door, I would have to climb over console to get to driver seat. I am [xxx]. This is not ideal. I am original owner of the car. This issue has sporadically been a problem for several yrs. I took the car to 2 repair shops in CA. Neither could determine how to make the repair after having to remove inside door panel. I have read there are thousands of complaints about this over the yrs. , and Toyota has refused to make a recall campaign. I hope you can help initiate one. Current average estimate to try to repair this is $750. , and that does not include the lock that sometimes sticks in closed position. Intermittently, when leaving from a stop the car will have just enough power to pull forward about a car length before losing all drive power. The engine revs, but behaves as if it were in neutral. This happened a couple times when making a left turn from a stop sign leaving the car in cross traffic, powerless, with cars coming from the drivers side for a second or two before it had power again. It seems to happen in hot weather. It is intermittent. The dealership could not reproduce the problem. There were no warning lamps. I could make the vehicle available for inspection upon request. The first appearance was last summer. It did not do it over the winter. It happened again yesterday. When it happens it tends to happen for a few minutes before driving normally again. It may happen at start up or after the car has been driven for some time.

2019 Camry --> Toyota has customer support program 24te04 notification for problem with bad flow shut off valve. Problems are engine maintenance light and a/c not functioning properly. This vehicle was purchased new and currently has 3350 miles. The a/c has not functioned properly since purchased. Bredeman Toyota in park ridge, IL contacted and appt. Scheduled for 4/12/25. The service dept. Advised a diagnostic fee of $170. 000 would be charge. Toyota contacted about this since the vehicle should be under recall for this problem that could cause the vehicle to overheat. Case #[xxx] provided. I rec'd a call back 4/04/25 from dealership serv. Mgr. Mike cooper. Diagnostic charge would not be waived even though I was told they have replaced this part on numerous vehicles for the past three (3) years. I don't understand why Toyota hasn't been told to recall for this problem. Please consider taking this action against the mfg. This 2023 was bought brand new and has been driven for 2. 5 years. At just over 60000 miles the transmission failed. I have had this car serviced regularly with no indications or warnings of any problems until it just stopped shifting normally one day. Took it to Toyota and they ran a diagnostic indeed stating the transmission has to be replaced entirely. And because I am just over 60000 miles they will not honor a warranty on it. Transmissions should not go out at 62000 miles. This is a defect.

Just bought this car on 3/12/2025 was assured nothing wrong. When taking off it goes about 8 ft then hesitates causing the car behind to almost hit me. Twice it's happened. Pulling out of busy intersections is dangerous. Also it will down shift while driving regularly. Causing cars to run up on you. It also almost died at. A stop sign. Could be tranmission. Not sure exactly.

We took ownership of the vehicle in March 2025. It wasn’t until then when we finally attempted driving it that I realized the dashboard had begun melting. It is shiny and sticky. The Camry was owned by my wife’s elderly parents. Her father was disabled and had stopped driving the car before passing and her mother has dementia. Neither of them were aware of the dashboard recall program or the warranty extension that ended in 2017. Had her father and mother notified us of the problem we would have had it taken care of under the time limit, but they didn't. They purchased it new and the vehicle was mostly garaged, with only 37,000 miles to date most of which were in the first 2 years they owned it. The melting dashboard creates dangerous glare reflecting onto the windshield making it difficult to see. This poses a significant safety hazard when driving on a sunny day, not only to us but to those driving near us, risking a multi-car accident. We have had several close calls while driving this car. This situation has placed us in a difficult position. I am [xxx] and [xxx], we rely on this vehicle for regular transportation to [xxx] and medical appointments. We live on a fixed income and are unable to afford the cost of dashboard replacement. Given these circumstances and the fact that we only recently became aware of the issue we want Toyota to do the right thing and replace the dashboard as they committed to do. The sunroof on my Camry would not close. I took it to Toyota in were they determined that the cables bound up in the track and the only fix was a new roof assembly. This is a safety risk because if the sunroof cannot close it allows the vehicle to be susceptible to outdoor elements as well as safety issues regarding theft. The problem was seen and confirmed by the Toyota dealership, in where they replaced the roof assembly in its entirety under warranty. There were no warning lights that were triggered by the roof become inoperable. They appeared the day I took it in to get serviced, February 28, 2025. The vehicle has only been inspected by the Toyota dealership service center. We were told that there is no remedy to this issue, and that frequent use will ultimately lead to the roof assembly needing to be replaced again. A cost of $10,000 that was luckily covered under warranty. This is an insane amount of money, and the resolution of "don't use your sunroof" is laughable. When you purchase a car, it is to be able to use it in it's entirety. If I didn't want to use a sunroof, I would have purchase one with one. The dealership said they were not going to submit this as a possible recall.

1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? the transaxle (transmission) failed on my 2019 Toyota Camry, causing a complete loss of power while driving. This is part of the power train system. The vehicle is currently at Toyota of north austin for inspection and repair. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? while driving, my car suddenly lost power and stalled in the middle of an intersection. I was unable to pull over, leaving my vehicle stranded in traffic. Other cars almost hit me, creating a major safety hazard. I was panicked and scared, and the failure could have resulted in a serious accident. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes. Toyota of north austin diagnosed the issue and confirmed a transmission (transaxle) failure, recommending a full replacement. Toyota has refused goodwill assistance, leaving me with an expensive repair bill. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? the vehicle has been inspected by Toyota of north austin, and they confirmed the transmission failure. It has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? yes. Shortly before the failure, the check engine light came on. However, there were no other warning signs or messages indicating an immediate issue. The vehicle suddenly lost power while driving. The only related maintenance was a transmission fluid change at Toyota of north austin on 11/22/24, but there were no immediate signs of failure at that time.
Sun roof seals not properly installed, could cause leaking which in turn could cause a distraction to the driver while it's raining.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request the odometer system of the vehicle has malfunctioned. The odometer reading, which displayed 118,204 miles at the time of purchase, has stopped working entirely and does not record additional mileage. Evidence suggests that the odometer was tampered with or manipulated prior to the sale, as a vehicle history report reveals the car had accumulated 290000 miles before the purchase. The vehicle and odometer are available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? the odometer fraud poses a safety risk because it misrepresents the vehicle’s condition. With the mileage inaccurately reduced, the car’s actual wear and tear could lead to unexpected mechanical failures. Components like the engine, transmission, and brakes might have significantly higher usage than I was led to believe, increasing the likelihood of breakdowns or accidents. I was also unable to make informed maintenance decisions due to the fraudulent mileage reading. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes, an independent service center confirmed that the odometer is no longer functional and has likely been tampered with. Additionally, a vehicle history report (e. G. , from carfax or autocheck) confirms that the car had significantly higher mileage before it was sold to me. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? the vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, but it has been assessed by an independent mechanic. I am in the process of reporting this issue to law enforcement and my state’s department of motor vehicles (dmv). I am prepared to make the car available for further inspection by any relevant authorities.

There is a defect on my front panoramic sunroof panel. The glass is too thin and the stress and tension caused the glass to break and shatter. No object struck the sunroof.
There is no way to turn off the features after looking into the manual. While I was driving on the interstate, my wheel jerked to the right towards the off ramp when I heals it straight. It was fighting me. Another time a bus was pulled to the right in front of me to pick up the people, and my car abruptly braked despite being in the clear and having pushing on my accelerator. But my vehicle jerked into the left lane over the right when I made a right turn from a stop, nearly causing me to be rear ending by traffic. As I was driving approximately last week, my car made a complete harsh stop at approximately over 30mph causing me to have severe neck and head pains that have only been increasing since. I was in the clear from the car that was to my right at the intersection. My car had also jerked to the left lane instead of the right lane when I was stopped making a right turn using my turn signal. And also, I noticed that my settings would reset when I program them. No other person messes with my settings on the dash. I have a schedule to get my neck and head checked due to increasing pains.
Hi, I bought a new Camry 2025 xse hybrid from dan cava Toyota, fairmont, wv. The Toyota company says 47 mpg. However, I filled complete tank 3 times and each time the odometer showed estimated 430-440 miles for 13 gallons, which is equal to 34 mpg. As a customer, I feel I am cheated by Toyota company. I bought this Camry only for a better mileage and safety. Please let me know what I should do. Thank you very much. Regards, thangasamy.
Low oil engine warning comes of day after day, physical oil level is fine but keeps coming on after 2 oil changes dealer claims that it’s a software glitch and Toyota is aware of it. . No fix as of yet also claimed vehicle is drivable…. First came on at 20 miles.
I was driving up a steep driveway inside a parking garage. While turning a corner, the accelerator pedal began pulling away from my foot, and the car started speeding up on its own. I managed to apply the brake to stop the vehicle. I checked to see if there was anything near the pedal, like a mat, but there wasn’t. No indicator lights were on. This is the first time the car has exhibited this issue. The vehicle has not yet been inspected but is available for inspection.
My transmission is no longer working and confirmed by the dealership and mechanic shop. My Camry has 60,900 miles when the transmission broke.
My 2019 Toyota Camry se experienced a transmission failure due to slipping gears. The issue became apparent when the car started hesitating during acceleration, with noticeable jerking and a lack of smooth shifting between gears. Despite routine maintenance, the transmission’s performance progressively worsened, with the slipping becoming more frequent and severe. Now I'm unable to drive my car anymore.
When in motion, the backseat windows can be lowered and the entire car is subject to the loudest woofwoofwoof combined with shaking, and excessive vibrating.
My 2023 Camry has 'floormat-hold-down-clips' on the drivers side only. The passenger side has none and without them it allows the mat to roll up. Aside from being annoying, it is also a tripping hazard. My wife and I are both in our mid seventies and broken bones are a real concern. I contacted Toyota customer service and their solution was not to anchor the loose floor mat down but to give me a replacement mat ----fixing nothing.
Just bought this car in may 2024 and a few months after owning it my check engine light came on. They said the issue is with a coolant bypass valve and the issue is common with Toyota’s like mine. There is currently no recall, warranty is fighting me to fix it and the repairs will cost me over $700! Toyota needs to recall for this issue.
On October 22, I drove my daughter to her high school that is about 6 miles away from my house and dropped her off around 6:50 am. On my way back, after driving around 2 miles, I was turning around a bend about 25 miles per hour when my car suddenly started accelerating. Startled, I stepped on the brake immediately, but the brake was not working to my surprise. I stepped a second time, and then a third time to no avail. In the meantime, the car was surging forward into the darkness at a higher and higher speed. I panicked; I remember uttering,” OH, my god, OH, my god” a couple of times and then don’t remember what happened. According to the sheriff’s car crash report, the car veered off the road to the left, glanced off a tree and continued in a straight line and crashed into an electricity pole at about 65 mph and stopped. Obviously, I was in a state of shock and woken up by someone asking me repeatedly, “are you okay?”. I was dazed. When I opened my eyes, I was surrounded by blinking lights from an ambulance. I just sat there bewildered. The window next to me was utterly broken. My left leg was folded. I felt it with my palm and realized that it was broken. I felt my right leg and it was okay. I was asked if I could pull my self out of the car through the passenger’s side door, but I couldn’t move my left leg. So, I gave my back to first responders, and they dragged me out of the car and laid me on the tarmac. Two people held me by my legs and two others by my shoulders and picked me up to a stretcher of an ambulance. My t – shirt and pants were cut up and removed, and I was wrapped by blanket, and taken to the back of the ambulance. Preliminary checking suggested my left leg was indeed fractured, therefore, was wrapped carefully, and I was taken to an emergency room. X-ray of my leg and CT scan of my head and chest showed that my left leg had serious fractures. Surgery to stabilize the fractures was performed. And a second surgery will be performed in two days.
Toyota 2017. 75000 miles transmission is bad.
Over the 10 years I have owned this car, it has failed to start about a dozen times. 1/2 the time I am at home and 1/2 the time I am away from home. Sometimes if you wait a few hours it will then start, often times it has to get towed to the dealer. Upon arrival at the dealership, it usually starts. The Toyota dealership has been unable to correctly diagnose the problem. As such, I spend money on repairs that do not actually fix it. The latest "diagnosis" is that the steering lock actuator motor needs to be replaced. Cost about $900. There is no guarantee that replacing this part will fix the problem. Calls to Toyota corporation go unreturned. I call them, log a case, the case is closed without a response. Rinse and repeat. Has happened three times already. Clearly they do not care. This is a very serious problem. Below is just the latest incident that happened on 10/15/2024.

Dashboard making noise.
Shifted the operating car from park to drive when the car suddenly and unexpectedly took off even though I was not touching the accelerator. The car accelerated across the street and slammed into a parked car. The airbags did not deploy which would indicate a low-speed but the pre-collision system did not stop the car which would indicate higher- speed. My car was written off as a complete loss by my insurance carrier and the damage to the parked car that was hit was extensive.
While driving your 2025 Toyota Camry, I experienced an unintended acceleration and brake failure causing a collision to occur on October 10, 2024 with only around 7000 miles. I was ready to park my vehicle in the garage of my company with very low speed between two vehicles, then it suddenly accelerated on its own and the brakes would not stop the vehicle. My vehicle collided with a wall only around 3 feet before my vehicle. I have concern that this incident resulted from a defect with my vehicle, so I noticed Toyota's dealer and Toyota. I suspect this is a control system failure since this is a new hybrid vehicle. I have heard online that there are several accidents happened for Toyota hybrid vehicles having similar experience: new vehicles with low speed even with foot on the brake. The unintended acceleration under low speed with foot on the brake is a safety issue. However, Toyota did not think this is a vehicle defect after its around two month's investigation.
