Started my car, noticed oil lamp came on then off. Proceeded to drive and oil lamp light flashed again. Oil light came on at least a total of 5 times. Came to traffic light, came to a soft stop to observe traffic before attempting to turn right. Car then shut off and all indicators were on, such as, battery, engine light, oil light, and air bag. I proceeded to restart car. No problem with restart, oil light never came on again. I took car to Toyota dealership service department to find out why vehicle shut down and due to fear! Toyota employee told me they would do a diagnostic on my vehicle free of charge to find cause of shut down. Please note, I did an oil change oct. 15, 2013 and Nov 18, 2013 car shut down! after arriving at a Toyota dealership to have my car checked to find out why it simply shut down, then all of a sudden there was no time to do a check to find out what caused my car to shut down without warning. The manager gave me a very simple reason as to why and what caused it to shut down. Manager told me I have an oil leak inside the engine of my car. Manager stated I didn't have to buy a new engine, but I needed to do a 100-500 oil dip stick check. Why was the dip stick down to nothing in the first place? why was there no oil in my car? technician never put oil in my car. Toyota is responsible for damage to engine as a result of their mishandling of vehicle and making false statements regarding me. Toyota is responsible for stress on of my Toyota 2007 Camry engine. My life and that of others at risk because of Toyota. .

November 25th 2013 - again, pulling into a parking spot with my foot on the brake, the car shot forward, this time, it went right into a brick wall. Approximately 40 bricks rained down on the hood of the vehicle, the front end is smashed in, but this time, I had a passenger that was injured and kept overnight in the hospital. The airbags never deployed. The police that responded were shocked.

51 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2013 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 09/26/2013

Three separate unrelated incidents: 1. While driving in freeway traffic and attempting to blend into side lane, there was no power for a brief second and then a surge which made us decide to stay in the current lane. The repair man said he had heard this concern from other 2013 Camry owners, but I needed to learn to drive this as a new vehicle. 2. Dealer put us off when we asked about recall due to a problem with the airbags. When we e-mailed Toyota they referred us back to our local dealer. We felt caught between them. This has finally been dealt with. 3. Starting the Camry which was parked in our garage,(outside temperatures were below zero) there was a rumbling and a pop. I called our dealer to be sure I should drive into town. When I went to their local office, they told me that this had happened to other owners and it was because of the new federal guidelines for fuel efficiency which made parts closer together and the need to use a thinner oil which would settle and cause this bang. Yet, they also said that none of their lot cars had experienced this and they were not in garages.

53 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2010 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 11/01/2011

Every time I turn on the heating system of my Toyota Camry, I get this foul sulfur smell coming from the vents. I took it to the dealer and they say they ran tests on it but since they can't reproduce the smell there's nothing to do. Thus far Toyota has written it off to the sulfur levels in the fuel, yet I own a Toyota corolla as well and have never had this experience. At the dearlership they told me that the smell happens after the fuel is burned and passed through the catalyst converter, but I'm worried that separate systems -- the heating and the process of burning fuel -- cross together to bring that smell into the cabin of the car. I remember the previous big Toyota recall and how they tried to brush the problem under the rug, but I hope this doesn't happen here. That is unless NHTSA is willing to let people inhale such noxious and possibly toxic fumes.

55 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2004 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 10/05/2011

On I-5, in the fast lane outside portland, oregon without warning the car lost all power. I was able to drift to the side of the road but was still in traffic. When I reached a repair shop they diagnosed the problem as a chip failure in the gas pedal. This could have happened anywhere, without gas the car just stops, and the result could be far more serious.

56 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2004 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 10/03/2011

While driving on a busy city highway, the throttle body assemble stuck wide open. The car's computer shut it down, causing the car to stop in heavy traffic. The engine would not restart, as the stuck open throttle body made the engine race and the computer shut it down. As this was a know factory design defect, the newly redesigned replacement throttle body fixed the problem but Toyota charges about $1000 for the replacement part. With the many reported failures of this part and the decision to make a redesign to cure the problem, it appears that the customer absorbs the coporate responsiblity. There was no help from the local dealer etc! ergo my initiation of a complaint! with the large number of complaints over a long period, it is hard to understand why no recall was ever initiated nor was there a satisfactory investigation!.

63 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2010 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 03/25/2011

On Friday, 25 March, 2011 at about 4 pm, my wife experienced a sudden deceleration event on our 2010 Toyota Camry. She made a right turn & in about a half mile, the Camry suddenly slowed to less than 10 mph from about 40 mph. She pulled into the first parking lot to the right and shut off the Camry. She said no matter how much she pressed on the accelerator, the car was not responding to the accelerator. She said the check engine and the stability control lights were on. She tried restarting the car and drove a little in the parking lot, the 2 dash lights were on, but it was driving ok. She drove the car slowly approximately 5 more miles to our home. I arrived soon & I checked the codes with my diagnostic tool, and the ecu was showing an active p0121 (throttle/pedal position sensor a, circuit range performance). So we drove the car slowly to atlanta Toyota, 2345 pleasant hill road, duluth, GA 30096. During the drive to the dealership, the dash lights went off. I reported the code p0121 to the service rep, and the driving symptoms. The next day (Saturday, 26 March 2011) atlanta Toyota called me reporting that there were no codes in the ecu. I repeated the code that I had read. The rep stated they would check again. Again atlanta Toyota called me, stating no codes found, and they had test driven the car and could not replicate the problem. They did replace the accelerator pedal assembly. On the drive home from the dealership I noticed that the clock time had changed about 30 minutes, and all the radio presets were gone, as if the battery had been disconnected. I inquired and the dealership rep said the battery had ‘not been touched’. My concern is this – Toyota may have reprogrammed my car due to the sudden deceleration issue, (hence the clock & radio changes), and they are not being forthcoming regarding repairs. All they will say is, there were no codes.

64 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2011 Toyota Camry

65 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2002 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 12/12/2010

The car accelerates at a high rate with little pressure on gas. It seems to happen at random times when the car is warm. I could be stopped at a red light then have it happen when the light turns and I step on the gas. It also has happened when accelerating while still moving taking a corner while slowing then stepping on the gas once I have straightened out.

66 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2011 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 12/11/2010

I was driving into a parking area, idling forward so that I could back up and drop off my colleague at her house. I had my foot on the accelerator, barely idling forward, and all of a sudden the pedal was floored and the car was surging forward with a parked vehicle right in front of us. I jammed on the breaks, and immediately turned off the engine. Both the passenger and I were terrified. I went home, and will never drive that car again. I do not trust Toyota to fix it or own up to what is really going on. The accelerator floored itself, and then stuck there. I could easily have killed a pedestrian, my passenger or myself.

67 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2003 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 10/30/2010

The car stalls when in motion. No warning at all. Could be going 10mph or 65mph, and it suddenly goes to idle speed. Dealer said it is throttle body (electronic sensor?) issue and must be replaced for $1200. Warranty is 36 months or 36,000 miles. My car has 77,000 miles. According to the internet, this is apparently a common problem with Toyota. Outrageous!!!!!! not only is this one of the most dangerous problems that I have ever heard of, but Toyota and NHTSA seem to be ignoring the problem. My congressman and CT consumer protection will hear about this and I urge you to do something to help-------save (lives) Toyota drivers.

68 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2002 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 09/01/2010

Atlanta, GA, requires an emmission inspection each year. My 2002 Camry xle has passsed with no problem in past years. When the inspection tester was hooked to the car it reported "not ready" codes in all test categories and the inspection could not be completed. I took the car to my mechanic and he could clear the computer and get it to reset but almost immediately the codes would start to drop off to "not ready" again. He was able to get it to set long enough to complete the inspection that passed properly and then the codes began to drop off again. Calls to Toyota have received no information on what to do to correct this problem.

70 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2003 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 06/20/2010

On June 20 shortly before 6:00 pm I backed out of the parking space of our condo building, and I proceeded to drive the car with about 10 mls/hour toward a street cca 50 yards away. Before entering the street the car has to be stopped, however, without pressing the gas pedal, the car on its own accelerated. Immediately I applied the brakes, but the car did not respond. The car speeded into a grassy area, and from there to our overflow parking lot, and from there to a second parking lot. The tires burned the grass due to the applied brakes. Picture of the burned grass can be supplied if requested. The unstoppable car traveled about 170 yards. Due to the force by which the car hit four curves, the front tires were flattened and the front right wheel was severely damaged. The front end collapsed to the ground and the car finally stopped. My wife and myself were wearing the safety belts, which prevented to be thrown into the front windshield. . My wife was sitting next to me, there were no other passengers in the car. In addition the force caused both of the front airbags to deploy. Minimizing the human damage. The airbags caused a second degree burn on my left arm as determined in the er. The airbag also hit the front of my face. And slightly burned the finger on her left hand. Needless to stay that we were extremely shaken and frightened. Upon exiting the car I called 911 and reported what happened. An unknown neighbor called an ambulance, which came very soon with a large fire truck. We were taken to the er of a local hospital. We spent at 4-5 hours in the er of the hospital where we were x-rayed. Even as of the date of this report, some 2 months after the accident both my wife and I remain extremely shaken by this traumatic experience. My wife's spinal problems were enhanced by the crash, and her condition is being monitored by specialists. The car was not on the recall list. . I suspect the original micro chip to cause the malfunction of the gas flow.
