1 Rear Suspension Shock Absorber problem of the 2011 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 06/23/2014

I was driving in the right lane in a school zone, on a straight stretch. No other cars were near me. The steering wheel suddenly pulled to the right, causing the car to hit the curb. My first thought was, I had a flat tire, but I did not. Since it was not far, I decided to take my car to pohanka Toyota where I purchased it and have it serviced. The dealer replaced the right rear wheel hub, bearing and shock absorber. . . . Updated 10/22/14.

2 Rear Suspension Shock Absorber problem of the 2010 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 05/28/2013

Tire dealer informed me that left front and right rear struts were leaking and that all four should be replaced. Took car to Toyota dealer (car under extended warranty), where dealer said he would replace only left front strut, and that some leaking was acceptable (manufacturer's policy). Strut was replaced. However, wheels were not aligned, as is important whenever struts are replaced. Also, it's not good practice to replace only one strut--no one replaces only one tire (or on older cars, one shock absorber) for the same reason--it can create a dangerous imbalance. Toyota's leaking strut policy needs to be investigated.

3 Rear Suspension Shock Absorber problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 11/09/2012

Took my vehicle to the dealership for routine maintenance. They told me that I need to replace my front struts(found front shock absorbers leaking) which would cost $1254. I did search online and found that this is a common issue among 2007 Toyota Camrys. Would Toyota do anything about this premature defective issue?.

4 Rear Suspension Shock Absorber problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry

The vehicle was taken to a local repair shop where a mechanic informed the contact that the hydraulic fluid was leaking from the front and rear shock absorbers. The vehicle was then taken to an authorized dealership for a diagnostic test on two occasions. When the problem was duplicated, the dealer stated that nothing could be done to repair the vehicle as it was no longer under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000. 6 Rear Suspension Shock Absorber problem of the 2002 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 07/05/2002

Purchased new vehicle from dealer. Heard knocking from rear passenger side. Took back to dealer and left for the day. Vehicle returned to me and told noises were normal. Unsatisfied, I took to another dealer. The new dealer identified the problem as a broken strut in the rear passanger side wheel. Is this negligent. Is this a safety concern. Vehicle has not been fixed yet.

7 Rear Suspension Shock Absorber problem of the 1997 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 04/04/2001

At speeds of 25 mph or more the rear of the vehicle suddenly bounces sideways requiring immediate steering corrections constantly in order to aviod accidents. While driving in wyoming at 72 mph , the rear wheels hit a crack in the pavemant causing the vehicle to bounce sideways and spin out of control and off the highway. I have since visited the dealer and learned that the shock mounts were defective and loose. I replaced the shocks and mounts/supports at a cost of over $1000 and still have the same problem. I am afraid to drive the car at speeds over 35 mph and considering selling it and buying a safer vehicle.

12 Rear Suspension Shock Absorber problem of the 1998 Toyota Camry

A year after I purchased to Toyota Camry, the rear shock absorbants got extremely noisy and it feels like it will break any time I have to drive over a small bump. I have contacted jim coleman's Toyota in bethesda maryland when I took the car for service around 19000 miles. I was told that all Camry's have this problem and Toyota is going to make a recall and fix it. Up until today that has not happened. My warrenty rans out at 36000 miles. I currently have around 25000. So I like either Toyota or the dealer take responsibility and fix the problem. Thank you.
