2 Suspension problem of the 2018 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 07/29/2025

Brought my vehicle to costco to have the tires replaced. After the vehicle was put on the lift, the wheel broke off. Fortunately no one was underneath at the time. Costco did no further work because of this so car was then towed to dealership. They confirmed that the strut mounts were rusted so badly that it caused it to just break away from the top mount. This suspension issue also caused additional tire damage. There was absolutely no indiciation that there was an issue with the strut and I am glad that it decided to break off while on a lift getting service instead of when I was driving it. The vehicle is only 7 years old and mechanics at dealership confirmed that corrosion should not have happened that quickly and suspect a design flaw that is trapping moisture, therefore accelerating corrosion.

3 Suspension problem of the 2025 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 04/24/2025

Urgent safety complaint for my 2025 Toyota Camry se. I feel unsafe driving this car, especially with my child, due to extremely premature and unsafe tire wear found at only 17,309 miles. Key facts: mileage: 17,309. Problem: needed immediate replacement of 4 tires due to severe premature wear. Two tires worn to steel belts, risking tire failure. Faulty wheel bearing also diagnosed. Safety: high risk of tire failure. Unsafe feeling driving car, particularly with child. Maintenance: regular tire rotations performed. Alignment done at ~9,000 miles. This severe wear is unacceptable and unsafe. My 2 prior new Camrys had tires last 45k-60k miles. Expected these tires to last at least another 25,000 miles / 1 year. Finding steel belts at <18k miles was shocking/unexpected. Despite the danger & maintenance history, Toyota dismissed concerns, blaming only the tire maker (bridgestone). Toyota refuses to investigate potential vehicle causes (suspension, alignment specs, wheel bearing link) for this rapid, unsafe wear. Online research shows a pattern: other newer Camry owners report similar premature tire wear, possibly linked to larger factory rims. Extreme low-mileage failure suggests a vehicle safety defect. Urge NHTSA to investigate promptly to determine if a vehicle issue is causing this unsafe tire wear on these models, putting families at risk.

The left front suspension lower arm making weird noises while driving. Looks like it is related to open recall on same model "t he left front suspension lower arm may have an improperly manufactured bolt hole where it connects to the ball joint. " but my vehicle in not included in open recall - called up Toyota customer service and they asked me to go thru NHTSA.

9 Suspension problem of the 2024 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 06/20/2024

On June 20th, 2024, my vehicle started making a vibration and roaring sound at 3k miles at speeds as low as 35 mph and gets louder the faster you go. The steering wheel also has a vibration. The noise and vibration get worse when you turn the wheel the left but when returned back to center it stops or is quitter and less vibration. When turning to the right it does not do it at all and will sometimes it does. I have taken it to the dealer 3 times now first time they said OH it just wind noise. Second time they said we found the noise but don't know what the problem is. 3-time service manager rode with me, and he pointed out the sound and I said yes that sound. They then replaced both front wheel bearings. And they told me on pick up that the noise was completely gone. 2 minutes after leaving the noise was still there and even louder. Toyota seems to not able to fix the problem. This is a safety issue that needs to be addressee knowing that it involves the suspension in the front end of the vehicle.

10 Suspension problem of the 2018 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 05/16/2024

Car was brought to dealership for brake vacuum booster recall. After being assessed it was lowered to the ground and the front rh strut /spring assembly broke free from the vehicle - the internal portion of the mount was completely rusted apart thus detaching from the outer “shell” of the strut mount leading to a completely unsafe condition that required repair. The vehicle has 145,000 miles and no other signs of rust near this part, parts related too, or on the body panels near this area. Parts have since been replaced and car is operational. Could have caused accident if coil spring broke free of assembly during regular driving. No warning lights, strange noises or other indicators spoke to how decayed this part was. Not caught during inspection prior to car being purchased 2 yrs ago.

11 Suspension problem of the 2018 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 01/12/2024

I brought my car in for maintenance and while the vehicle was on the lift, the top mounting bracket of both front macpherson struts failed and allowed the coil spring to decompress to the furthest extent allowed by the other suspension components. Both struts catastrophically failed within 10 minutes of each other, causing a loud violent bang, but not immediately when the tires were lifted off the pavement. By all measures, this is a design flaw that allowed moisture to be trapped in the top strut mount which greatly accelerated this component's failure. Every other visible portion of the strut and all other components on the under carriage look almost pristine, showing almost no corrosion. The maintenance and subsequent repair did not occur at a Toyota dealership.

12 Suspension problem of the 2018 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 11/16/2023

Front, right, strut disconnected from upper mount during driving.

13 Suspension problem of the 2014 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 09/01/2023

Starting in 2023, around 80,000 miles, my 2014 Toyota Camry hybrid has started pulling to either side under braking. I replaced the pads & rotors at my local Toyota dealer in September and it actually made the problem worse. November 22 of this year, the master technician at my dealership found multiple lower suspension bolts loose. They re-torqued everything to spec and the issue has not been resolved. I have reached out to Toyota corporate and informed them of the issue. Parts have been ordered for a separate customer support program to fix the brake booster system, which makes noise in the pedal, but is independent of this complaint. We will be reinspecting in greater detail to provide information to Toyota.

14 Suspension problem of the 2008 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 08/05/2023

No complete failure has happened as I chose to not drive the vehicle as I feel it is unsafe. The rear trailing arm body mounts rust to a point that I feel the structural integrity is compromised. At first glance the mount appears intact but after tapping lightly with a small hammer pieces of the mount fall off leaving a large portion of the mount missing. I have attached pictures of the mount before checking the mount and after to show how much of the mount is left. If this mount were to fail it could cause loss of control of the vehicle and a crash.

16 Suspension problem of the 2012 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 02/18/2023

On 2/18/23 I took my car into the repair shop to investigate a clunking sound upon braking. The control arm was broken and the level of corrosion is extensive. I am the original and only owner and the car has never been out of florida or on the beach or immersed in water. Toyota of north America in plano, TX said they could not receive my pictures and that there was no one at Toyota that I could send documents to. They said if there was a recall I would be notified.

20 Suspension problem of the 2013 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 04/26/2022

Truck has only 93,000 miles after 19 years. Housed in a garage. Gets undercoat wash mid-winter and post-winter. Yet frame severely rusted out to the point that vehicle can't be loaded or tow 3,500 lb boat/trailer.

21 Suspension problem of the 2012 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 04/07/2022

When I first purchased the car I unlocked the lever to adjust my steering wheel and from that moment further my car never drove the same. If I do not play with the lever for the tilt steering and move steering wheel up and down while driving my car does not drive normal. The tires either feel like they were laying down flat when making a turn either way to the left or the right and the car seemed to be at a different position than my steering wheel was. I changed my lower control arms, inner tire rods(front), outer tire rods(front),this is all since January of 2022. I contacted the dealership immediately when I began noticing the problem and they told me nothing was wrong with the car and they couldn't not help me. Now when I am driving it sounds like a belt shifted on a tire but hasn't or something is rubbing. My steering wheel shakes when braking, and my steering wheel is really tight. If I put my traction control on off and drive it somewhat drives better but the rubbing sounds from the front still appears. If I play with the tilt lever and move steering wheel in and out or up and down I can feel the transmission almost like releasing from straining but never feels as if it is straining if that makes since. The lever for tilt steering is sometimes really loose like it is about to fall off but other times it is so tight that I am afraid it will snap if I lock it back. No one seems to understand what is the issue at the mechanic shops I brought it too. And I am so scared of driving it that I have parked it since August because I am afraid for my safety and my childrens safety. I have heard and read about other Camrys this year model having similar issues. One time my abs light and traction lights came on during my drive and then went off moments later. If I dont play with the lever and tilt steering during a drive, the steering wheel while shake, car wobbles and sounds like mud tires are on it, and the car glides all over the road and turns make as if tires flat.

24 Suspension problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 12/10/2021

The front dash assembly is melted over time and is so bad I cannot see out the front windshield. I told the dealership that I believe this was a recall and they said it was but that the specific job for that expired ? I didn’t know recalls expired. They are willing to fix the current situation with the current system failure of the over heating window switches but a major problem is the visibility up front. I have to wear sun glasses just to see through that horrible glare from the melted dashboard. Also not sure if their is any suspension issues with my 2007 Toyota Camry. The steering wheel shakes some and I’ve purchased new tires wheels and some rotation balance and alignment and no additional work or parts where needed to fix that problem. The alignment did reduce some steering wheel shaking but it’s getting worse again. Any help would be appreciated and if we could get the dealership to fix the front dashboard that would be phenomenal. Thank you.

27 Suspension problem of the 2014 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 05/10/2021

While driving at highway speeds the steering seems to "stick" a little. I would explain it as the front end seems to pull from side to side, and then the drive wheels seen to stick so you have to fight with the steering wheel to get the vehicle to maintain lane travel. The dash lights came on that same night when this started. Maintenance req, airbag, seatbelt, battery, brake, low tire pressure, and traction control lights all came on. They remain on and have not gone off.

29 Suspension problem of the 2017 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 01/05/2021

My car is 46k and already have a suspension problem that was brought to my attention when my car started vibrating while driving on the highway. The tires are feathering in the middle which I was told was caused by a bad suspension. I've been going to the Toyota dealer to do my 5k maintenance and no one single person has ever mentioned this problem to me until now that is super late and very dangerous. I'm always traveling and doing road trips from KS to FL and from NY to FL and from canada to NY and so on and this could have caused an accident. This must be happening for a while now since the tires were just replaced at 19k.
