Rodents appear to be attracted to the engine compartment where they are eating critical wiring. The wiring is associated with the fuel injection system. I had the vehicle repaired with the dealership, costing me $600. After returning the vehicle from these repairs at the dealership, I parked the vehicle at home and again rodents entered the engine compartment and chewed up additional wiring the very next day. The new repairs cost me and additional $600. The home is located in a rural area under a carport. I have lived in this home for seven years and have other cars parked adjacent to the automobile in question. No other vehicles, however, have had or are having problems with rodents. I will be trading in this vehicle immediately. I can not afford these costly repair bills.

The contact inspected the vehicle and found that rodents had damaged the electrical wiring by attempting to build a nest inside the engine compartment. The wiring harness powering several rear mounted lights severed completely from its master cable. This harness runs along the left hinge of the trunk lid. The result is that I lost my tail lights, rear side marker lights, backup lights and license plate light. I consider this a safety issue inasmuch as I am subject to a citation for violation of safety requirements. I don't mind replacing consumable items, but a wiring harness should not fail in normal use, especially if it affects safety lights on the vehicle. Reference # for my complaint to Toyota: 200601100356.

Shifted (automatic transmission) into reverse. Fuse blew. Power windows and all dashboard gauges stopped functioning. Wiring harness, at the hinge, in the trunk had to be repaired.
1. The automobile would shimmy, shake and stop operating suddenly when the brakes were applied. This lead to several near accident scenarios. . When the automobile would shake violently and the engine would cut off it prevented the driver from proceeding on major highways and at intersections causing a dangerous situation. 3. The car was taken to a Toyota dealer for repair. Brake repairs were done but this was not the problem. This resulted in another very dangerous near accident during rush hour traffic at an intersection in which the auto would not start after shaking and coming to a violent halt.

Trunk hinges are cutting into the wire harnness for the tail lights and reverse lights. Fuses for the reverse lights and speedometer have blowen out several times when car is put in reverse. Dealer not notified. Please contact me with any further infomation or advice on this problem.
Dashboard trouble lights -- bulb out, check engine, reverse indicator on gear selector ( while in park or any other setting) came on. I brought the car to a licensed mechanic whom I've been dealing with for about fifteen years. He examined car and found that the rear wiring harness in the trunk along the left side trunk hinge had been stretching to the point where the wires were tearing, melting the insulation, poping fuses, and shorting out the individual circuits. I contacted the dealer after the repair and I was made aware of the problems and their factory representative claimed no prior knowledge of any such incident ever happening.
