I want to report that I found a loose bolt poking out of the drain hole on the rear passenger door of our 2015 toytota Corolla. It was oriented in such a way that only the threaded end was poking out the hole and held inside the door by the bolt head. I took it to the dealer and as a courtesy they removed the door panel and determined it had come from one of the window parts (regulator or motor). They reinstalled and tightened the bolt. I read on the internet this was a serious problem with previous Toyotas and created safety concerns. This may be a continued problem with Toyotas. It was obviously a very small chance that the bolt actually landed in a fashion to partially stick out of the drain hole so I was able to spot this, so I can't help but wonder if other window bolts in the car have, or will, come loose and fall into the interior of the doors without detection. This may also be the case with many other Corollas sold. Bolts that become loose and fall off of window parts could lead to inadvertent and dangerous failure of windows on the road. I suggest you investigate this potential safety issue.

1. Weather stripping will not stay on driver door 2. Cd player of radio system was throwing out the 6 cd's as driving- replaced stereo. 3. Under 70,000 miles- cv joint went out - replaced. Prior to replacement loud clunking sounds and steering difficult- other owners same issues I am reading. Needs recalled 4. Appx 77. 000 miles no warning alternator went out and was extremely hot and smelly-replaced. 5. Appx 78,000 miles between 25-35 mph transmission keeps slipping. I was driving down a street and once on interstate it hit the other gear hard/clunked- Toyota dealer called Toyota and they said replace transmission. Currently in the shop. Called Toyota and filed a case- they respectively understand my concern, however, they did not seem concerned of the safety hazard of this issue and probability of this issue causing a death. I have friend same issue and I have read about this same issue on the internet. There needs to be a recall. Luckily it did not go out on me driving on the interstate going 70mpg. Scared of the vehicle and distrust competency of Toyota. Are they unwilling to admit the transmission problem is a safety issue? needs recalled or investigated please help the consumer. I am worried about others safety.

7. 5y old Corolla le with 61,000 miles of gentle driving/excellent maintenance, all of a sudden, the alternator failed and the car steering wheel is locked, throwing me into panic. I managed to pull into a bank parking lot at chase bank on 161 w spring creek pkwy, plano. My previous car was 1995 Corolla, had same experience. I would never feel safe in these vehicles. I feel these denso alternators may be defective at such low mileage and gentle use. Anyone else have similar issue with denso alternator [model 104210-5480]?.

My car was hacked almost killing me. Cyber attack 10/31/15 as I was driving the battery/alternator kept draining forcing me to pull over to side of road. A strange gas also was periodically spraying out of vent fogging windows w/white film making it difficult to see & breath. Each time I pulled over car recharged itself on grass/dirt. At least the 8th or 9th time this happened the steering wheel jerked to right & w/in 1-2 seconds I went from 45-50mph-0 like hitting invisible building in middle of road. Pushed gas pedal to floor, not enough speed to pull off road. No lights, power, engine died. My body was jarred forward abruptly. A red light started blinking & beeping at bottom of consul & gas started coming out of vent again. I struggled to get out of car for fear of being hit from behind as it was pitch black out, also wanted to get cat out car which I left in field before police & ambulance arrived. I had blood down to socks. I was in hospital 1 week and no accident report was filed, my cat is still missing. I called dealership to report mechanical/electrical defect & was avoided/resisted for 3 1/2 weeks/over 30 hours on the phone before it was suggested I call manufacturer & another 2 weeks before they cooperated & filed claim. This has been a full time job trying to get someone to take responsibility. I sell real estate & cant work/earn money with no car. 12/11/15 Toyota sent inspector to place car was towed to pull info off data recorder. 2/1/15 I still have not received report. I have 3 year one pay lease expiring 9/2016, no money & no car. This has been an absurd, brain draining exhausting waste of time w/no end in site. I've reached out to ftc, consumer protection, govenors/senators. . . I just wanted them to take responsibility, loan or give me a car while they inspect and have had zero recourse to date. They want to sue me for cost of car/impound/storage fees.

After replacing the alternator in my 2009 Corolla in July 2015. My timing chains and water pump malfunctioned while driving on the highway. I was unaware and so was the mechanic that the timing belts were damaged until after the water pump and serpentine belt was replaced. Due to timing issues from the previous malfunctions, I am now in need of a new motor. My vehicle has all required repairs or maintenance completed as scheduled and my vehicle has not even made it to 80,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that while traveling on a hill, the alternator assembly warning light illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was merged to the side of the road, where the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the alternator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
All the sudden I was driving the vehicle and it stop all together and it will not start up again. I have checked everything that could be check from alternator, battery, fuses any visible damage to cables, ect but no luck at all.

At 89,000 miles, the battery light came on early in the day but I continued to drive it after stopping at Toyota who confirmed it was a "battery light. " later in the day, while traveling close to home at about 25mph, all the lights came on in the dashboard and the car started to seize steering wheel became difficult to maneuver and I could barely get the car over to the curb (it happened within minutes). The car completely shut down. It turned out to be an alternator gone bad. Frightening experience but I am glad it happened at 25 mph and not on the freeway earlier in the day, or it could have caused an accident. In the future, I will get all warning lights checked out promptly and not assume that a battery symbol means only the battery is dying. Perhaps Toyota needs an "alternator light" as well, as this is a serious situation.
I was driving my car home from work. Suddenly the car won't move forward and on the dashboard all the lights keeps light up and blinking and the car gradually died on the road. It's so dangerous. I see emc is listed recall but I don't receive any letter from dealer to fix its problem. Please let me know with VIN number above is on the list of recall. I have checked the alternator, it works ok and the battery is ok (just replace a few months ago). If it is recall, should I bring it to dealer to fix it even I didn't receive their letter.

This vehicle has had the water pump go out the breaks the alternator has had problems with the emergency breaks the air bag has had the struts replaced the gas lever stopped working and now the trunk release won't work I have replaced now 5 tires because one blow right after I got the car and now my car has just 85 thousand miles on it. I have heard so many good things about Toyota but this is the worst car I have ever own I will never buy or advise anyone to buy a Toyota again.
I am the original owner of a 2009 Toyota Corolla which I purchased new from a local Toyota dealership. I have always had them do recommended service, etc. And have taken great care of this vehicle. In July 2014 my car was making a rattling sound and I took it in for service. At that time it barely turned over and started, although I had replaced the battery in 2013. The car had a faulty alternator and when they were doing service they also discovered a broken water pump. The car only had apprx. 27,000 miles at that time. On 8-9-15 the car barely started and as I backed out the battery light came on and I lost my power steering. I had to have the car towed to the dealership and the problem was another defective alternator! the car only has less than 32,000 miles and another alternator. Although the part was just out of warranty, the dealership covered the part, but I had to pay 132. 00 labor and go without a vehicle for 2 days. My family and I always own Toyotas and have excellent service from the cars. This one, not so much! now I'm wondering what will go next. I think this will be my last Toyota.
Prematurely failing: struts (repaired summer of 2013), water pump (repaired 10/15/13), brakes (repaired 10/15/13), and alternator (yet to be repaired).
After starting the engine and driving approximately 100 feet, the dashboard lights: abs, anti skid symbol, battery and oil lamp appeared. Lost power steering, windshield wipers ceased, it was raining heavily. Drove approximately 6 miles to home. The next morning, car started without any issues, drove approximately 100 feet, the same lights appeared and power steering again ceased. Able to drive approximately 5 miles to work. Made an appointment with dealership for after work. Car immediately started with the above mentioned lights appearing again and without power steering. Drove approximately 2 miles, all power in car stopped, and car immediately stopped. Was unable to restart car, car was towed to dealership, where the service member stated the car needed a new alternator. When asked why this would occur with only 25000 miles, the service department was unable to give me a response. The alternator was costly. I am the original owner, purchased this car in July, 2009. Service my car regularly as suggested in manual at a Toyota dealership. I am disappointed with needing such a costly repair as I have never experienced this in the past with other makes of cars. All of which I have owned for 8 to 10 years each.
Car had just been started, was departing a parking garage and power steering suddenly failed, followed by engine failure. Car would not start again; battery was completely drained. Alternator had gone bad and was replaced.
2009 Toyota Corolla. Consumer states issues with screeching noise the consumer stated the noise would occur, when she started the vehicle, followed by the battery light illuminating. The battery light would eventually go off and then the vehicle would make the screeching noise again. The problem started intermittently in October and one day it completely drained the battery. The battery was replaced and the issue continued, becoming more frequent. When the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, they informed her the problem was the drive belt, which was replaced. The noise continued and a hot burning smell appeared after the screeching noise. The consumer went to get a second opinion and was informed the problem was the clutch pulley in which a recall had been issued, but not for her model. The consumer then went back to the dealer with the new information and was told she needed a new alternator. The consumer also stated there was an issue with the vehicle idling in a strange manner. The vehicle randomly vibrated and idled very low when stopping at a red light or stop sign.
My 16 year old daughter was driving my 2009 Toyota Corolla when the power steering went out of the vehicle. She had to steer the car out of traffic and park the car. The alternator on the car had quit working and caused her to loose control of the car. Thankfully she was able to get out of traffic without a collision. The reason we bought a new car was to try not to have problems usually associated with older more worn vehicles.
The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Corolla. The contact was driving 60 mph when the vehicle began to lose power abnormally. The instrument panel gauges would fluctuate oddly and the power steering, power brakes and headlights all became inoperable. The dealer made two attempts to duplicate the failure and advised the contact to have the battery replaced and that the symptoms would be normal if the battery was the culprit of the failure. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who advised the contact to have the alternator replaced. The contact did not inform the manufacturer of the failure nor was the vehicle repaired. The current mileage was 52,000 and the failure mileage was 42,000.
Turned on my 2009 Corolla after work and battery light was on. I went to test it at auto zone and they said the battery is no good. I called keys Toyota and they said bring it up and they will replace it. I made it about 3 blocks from auto zone and power steering went out and brake light come on and car started to chug. I took this car to the nearest Toyota dealership where they informed me that its a bad alternator, power steering, and water pump w battery charging issues. This happened all in like a half hour. Battery light never came on before that day. This could have been very dangerous if this would have happened on freeway. Toyota wake up. What happened to quality? my Corolla is not even 2 years old and has just over 30,000 miles and this? the dealership did pay for my rental and is fixing this issue free of charge but 4 things wrong in less than 1/2 hour?.
On Friday, March 12, 2010, I was driving my 2007 Toyota Corolla home on my lunch hour and my car stalled twice on a sharp turn. I nearly lost control on the turn because the steering became (quite unexpectedly) very difficult. At first I didn't realize the car had stalled, causing the steering problem. That was the first time the car stalled. I immediately took it to my local Toyota dealership. They said it could be a computer problem, battery, alternator, etc. , and they'd run diagnostics on it. After being there over four hours, all they said was that the battery was "marginal" but it took a charge. I asked about putting in a new battery and the service rep said he didn't want to do that. I wasn't charged for the diagnostic or battery charge. I believe, now that I've heard about the stall issue today in the news, that this problem is why I wasn't charged for the diagnostic test; however, I was not informed there have been problems with stalling.

I was in a car accident 10/23/00, in which I hit another vehicle from behind. I was driving at 45mph. My air bags failed to go off. Lukily, I was wearing my seat belt. The estimated damage to my vehicle is over $6,000, which is more than the car is worth. Also, in Feb. Of this year, while at a stop light, another driver informed me my left tail light was on fire. The fire caused my alternator to blow, and the battery to drain. I took my car back to the dealer, they couldn't find the cause. I took my car to a Toyota dealer, and not only could they not find the cause, but they said they had never heard of that happening before. After towing fees, battery, alternator, all new fuses, tail light and wire harness I spent $500.
