1 Computer Failure problem of the 2011 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 06/27/2016

The driver door lock is not responding to my key pad (stationary). My radio automatically turned itself off (whil driving on the interstate). When I researched the lock, I was told my car's computer may need to be "rebooted". Why do I need to "reboot" a computer after use for 4years? why is the computer faulty. This is not a luxury vehicle with several hundred computing options. I do not use the vehicle in a inappropriate manner. If the radio turned itself off while I was driving, I am concerned for a different part of the computer malfunctioning that could cost my life.

3 Computer Failure problem of the 2009 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 07/14/2014

1. While driving at approx. 25 mph, the car suddenly lost power; I was able to drive about 2 mph into a nearby gas station. The battery light was not on, but the orange engine light came on. After 5 minutes, the employee was able to start the car and I drove one mile to my home. My repair mechanic did a computer scan indicating possible problems with a switch and suggested that I drive around for about a week before returning. 2. A similar incident occured 10 days later. I glided into a parking lot, waited 10 min. , and the car resumed at regular speed. 3. On 8/7/14, I drove 2 mi. Back to the repair shop at a regular speed. A second scan could not be completed because the car suddenly stopped responding to the repair shop's computer. At this point the car is completely inoperable and must be towed to a Toyota dealer. I was advised that I may need a new computer. My 2009 Toyota Corolla has about 48,000 miles on it. I do not believe that a computer failure is normal within the age and mileage range of this car. Thank you for looking into this issue. .

4 Computer Failure problem of the 2006 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 06/20/2012

This is the 2nd time the computer ecu unit failed. My daughter drove the car to performance collision for some body work repairs. The body shop called to inform us that they couldn't complete the repairs because the car wouldn't start. I called aaa who towed the car to performance Toyota. After they inspected the vehicle the technician manager told me that the ecu unit failed again and this time it was out of warranty. I had to pay $725. 74 and performance Toyota again replaced the ecu unit. Toyota replaced the initial ecu on August 25, 2008 ( I filed a separate complaint) under warranty. I explained to Toyota that a computer should not have to be replaced at all and out of all the 7 cars I've owned over the pass 40 years this is the first car that ever had so many mechnical problems. Toyota claimed that the ecu computers don't last very long and need to be replaced about every 4 years. I don't believe these ecu are quality units and are defective. I'm hoping to get my money refunded.

5 Computer Failure problem of the 2007 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 06/13/2011

On June 13th 2011 my wife was on a NY state highway driving home from work traveling at 65mph and the car engine shut off. My wife was very lucky as she rolled to the side of highway that she was not rear ended. My wife restarted car after 15 minutes, but car shut off 2 more times. My wife was able to pull into a car repair shop because the car would not restart. The next day repair shop said you need to get Toyota to a dealership. The repair shop said the main computer failed. The ecm, electronic control module. I had a diagnostic fee $40. 50 from repair shop that Toyota refused to reimburse me. I had car towed and Toyota fixed the problem they said it was a recalled. However I did not receive a recall notice until after my Toyota was repaired. I wrote two letters asking for the $40. 50 that I had to pay for something they caused. I did not request towing fees because I have aarp coverage. I explained in my letter to Toyota corp. That a $40. 50 charge is a small price to pay for my wife who could have been killed on the highway. You would think a company of this size would bend over backwards to make everything right in order 2 maintain customer loyalty.

9 Computer Failure problem of the 2006 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 02/20/2010

I recently encountered a power loss while I was driving my 2006 Toyota Corolla, the opposite of the acceleration problem that is in the news. After stopping to fill up the car with gasoline, I could only get the car to go about 5 to 10 miles an hour when I used the acceleration pedal. Despite using the hazard lights, I was concerned that someone was going to ram into the car as I limped into a garage to have the car looked at. The vehicle had to be towed to the nearest Toyota dealer who uncovered (after a computerized system check) an internal ecu failure. . . Some sort of computer circuit failure. The only advanced warning about a computer failure that I can recall receiving occurred earlier in the morning when I noticed the dashboard lights weren't working right. The ecu was replaced by the dealer. I do not have the old part.

10 Computer Failure problem of the 2007 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 02/17/2010

While driving on a crowded 4 lane street in wadsworth ohio , my car suddenly lost acceleration, it did not stall but the check engine light came on and the speed reduced to 5 to 10 miles instantly with busy traffic all around me, I put my hazard lights on right away because there were cars coming behind me at normal speed, I slowly moved my car cautiously to the furthest right lane, where I was able to go into a parking lot. This has happened on several occasions, I was able to get the car to my mechanic where he hooked it up to a computer analyzer, the result showed that the control module performance code p0607, which is a computer malfunction, we have contacted a Toyota dealer, we have an appointment for them to do there own diagnosis, and hopefully fix the problem, in the mean time I cannot drive car and not worry about my safety on the road.

11 Computer Failure problem of the 2007 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 06/10/2009

My husband's 2007 Toyota Corolla came to a complete and sudden stop while he was driving. Fortunately, he was able to get to the side of the road without an accident and aaa towed him to a Toyota dealer/service dept. The asst. Service manager had the main computer replaced at no charge on the warranty. He told us that they have seen the main computer suddenly fail only on Toyota Corolla's 2003 - 2007. This is serious and I am very shaken -- it could have happened in an intersection or on the freeway. His attitude implied that it was not uncommon.

12 Computer Failure problem of the 2006 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 08/25/2008

My daughter was driving the Toyota 2006 Corolla when the windows stop working, then the lights begin stop working so she parked the car. The car would not start up again so she was able to get someone with jumper cables to start the car. She contacted performance Toyota who instructed her to bring the car to Toyota. They informed us that the car computer's ecu unit needed to be replaced and they replaced the ecu with no charge since the car was under warranty. However, they charged me $257. 99 for a wire that had shortened behind the dash causing the fuses to blow. I believe that it was due to the computer failure but they disagreed. Then on June 20, 2012 while the car was being repaired by performance collision body shop they contacted me to inform me that the car wouldn't start. I towed it to performance Toyota and they inform me that the ecu computer failed and needed to be replaced. I will submit a new complaint for this incident.

13 Computer Failure problem of the 2006 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 01/09/2008

My 2006 Toyota Corolla completely shut off as I was driving on a dark country road. I was in the middle making a left hand turn. The only thing that was working was the battery. I was unable to start the car. I had to get my car towed to the dealer. I purchased my car in August of 2006 and the computer completely failed on January 09, 2008. The car only had 20,434 miles on it at the time of the computer failure. The dealer replaced the defective computer.
